You can increase the GBA micro's backlight by holding the "L" button and pressing the volume button. L + Volume up button = increases the backlights light L + Volume down button = decreases the backlights light
this needs more views, seriously when i search gameboy micro i clicked the video with the most views and got the classic "out of breath yet talks really quietly" guy
I still put practicality and flexibility over looks, the Gameboy Micro would only be worth it if it also played Gameboy Color & Gameboy games as well, I'm kind of surprised it doesn't
@marcus trelle shhhh. They're not allowed to acknowledge emulators and piracy rom carts. If they do that, it takes the fun out of these guys making these great videos for us.
This is all true, if you do not have a Gameboy Micro i HIGHLY recommend that you get one, it's portable, compatible with any and every Gba game, and it's made very well! i have the same Gameboy Micro as shown in this video and i absolutely love it!
I remember being so psyched for this thing back in 05, got it, played Emerald on it for laughs for a while, realized it hurt my eyes after some time, and went back to my SP (which I played so much as a kid most of the paint is worn off and yellowed haha).
I wasn't a huge fan of the micro when it came out, but seeing this video somehow makes me want one of these things. Mark just makes the system exude class despite its shameful lack of Neo Geo MVS support.
Using the Waltz of the Flowers in the background totally made this review for me. XD Besides, I am still looking for my perfect dance partner. I think you have persuaded me. It's Amazon time!
Troll4ever31 ._. If you don't plan on playing with friends or buying a special link cable for it, then go for it. I have the 20th anniversary famicom one that I got on launch day and I still play it today. The buttons are not too small and the game looks nice on the small screen. Also being able to adjust the brightness of the back-lit screen was revolutionary! The battery life is also great! It isn't a must but if is a fancy way to play.
I think that's the main purpose of these reviews. Putting entertainment above information. Often I'm cool with that, which is part of the reason I like CGR .
Ok, so I've been watching CGR for years and my adoration knows no bounds. Whenever I want to get a big dumb grin on my face I flip to this channel. It has been my safe place in times of darkness and my main source of the video game tomfoolery I love. So I ask of you, is the Classic Game Room somewhere I can visit? Could I go to the intergalactic space arcade and give Mark a high five or something? I think it would be one of the greatest experiences of my life if I could do this.
You know what I like about your reviews? Even though you point out an item's flaws, you don't linger on them, and even then go to noting upsides. You compare it to other like items that are better in some ways, but different in ways that some people might prefer. I think the micro review is a good example of this. Keep on reviewing, Mark. :)
I remember when this came out. My ten-year-old perception of it was that it was obsolete technology (in light of the DS and PSP), and Nintendo was trying to squeeze every last drop of money out of the Gameboy line. I still think that to a certain extent, but it does have merit.
I saw a Game Boy Micro at a Pawn Shop for $90 back in January 2017 and also saw a stack of Game Boy Advance games right next to it I looked at it and I was like "that's the 1st time I saw a Game Boy Micro in person" "I've never seen one in person"
I have one of these! Along with my Game Boy Player for my Gamecube, I can play any GBA game, on the tiny micro screen, as well as my 32 in. TV at home.
I am still playing GBA on my Release-Purple original system (Pokemon Leafgreen Emerald FTW!). I h8 the lack of a backlight, but as a collector, I love that it plays original game boy games I grew up with it and I love that I can use AA batteries that last for hours and hours and I can easily buy new ones when they go bad.
I am not new. I am suscribed for more than 3 years. (I know... CGR was around much more) and I never saw Mike do so many funny things. If you know one more fun please let me know so I can see it :)
Love your videos, and just wondering, are you planing on making a Halloween special? I would love to see it. Besides that, love your videos and all, keep up the good work!
I bought this handheld back in 2008, had the original fat DS and hated playing GBA games on it because it was so bulky. Got the 20th Anniversary Mario edition for like $65 dollars. Sonic Advance 2 and Pokemon Ruby spent hours playing them on the Micro!
Man watching CGR in 2021 hits differently. Plus it would seem the never ending mission to review everything did end ): Miss these good old days.
Coming back to this 7 years later... How I miss these.
We miss you, Mark. Thanks for not leaving all of these up so we can still enjoy them years later. I would watch this show religiously.
Wait what happened to him??
@@LL-nn2jy He hates RUclips ever since it changes for the worse as far as how they pay and treat creators.
That "headphone dance" made my whole day. thank you ^^
EVERYBODY PUT YO HANDS UP!
The perfect console to play during class.
Haha I do that in study and I put it in my book
Just get an emulator and use it on you laptop in class
my school doesn't have regular computers we have chromebooks sadly
Marcus Christensen fuck no.
TheNorton27 Lol it's a handheld not a console jackass.
man i miss classic game room :( these videos were great!

YOU WILL NEVER TAKE MY WAIFU
VampireKatana wat?
I have no idea.
You do realize that you're talking to nobody, right?
I love how most of the reviews of consoles are about size and what can fit in it/where it can fit! Wish I could play Gameboy Micro on my Genesis
I miss so much this kind of videos. Pls come back with the games/consoles reviews.
I do say, this is a classy video.
Outdoor wall simulator 9000
DAMN! I miss these reviews.
Tchaikovsky - Waltz of the Flowers
Love it! Great review as always Mark. Brightens up my day whenever you post a video!
I still put practicality and flexibility over looks, the Gameboy Micro would only be worth it if it also played Gameboy Color & Gameboy games as well, I'm kind of surprised it doesn't

Mark, what on earth was that cartridge inside the standard Game Boy Advance model at 2:20?
This is all true, if you do not have a Gameboy Micro i HIGHLY recommend that you get one, it's portable, compatible with any and every Gba game, and it's made very well! i have the same Gameboy Micro as shown in this video and i absolutely love it!

Ah, How i miss videos like these. Just pure fun.
I love this guy, he is so lax
me too
Mark doesnt always review stuff with detail or presition but his reviews are so entertaining.
I miss these videos
Rewatching old episodes as a way to commemorate CGR's return. Seems the wait was never in vain, after all. 😃
Nice dancing Mark, it's almost hypnotic.
Miss this guy
just bought one for $5! Couldn't beleive it! Didn't come with a charger but got one on amazon! Works and looks great
Lucky!
+Henri V a week later and still in disbelief, had a streak of good deals lately! Picked up an Nes 3ds xl for $50!
jeez. from where?
I got one for 40 at goodwill along with an Xbox 360 elite. I had to battle a bunch of soccer mom's. It doesn't have a charger either :-:.
I know your comment is 7 years old, but you are lucky to get a GB micro for $5
Well done Mark, this is one of the most entertaining reviews ive ever seen from you. xD
Using the Waltz of the Flowers in the background totally made this review for me. XD Besides, I am still looking for my perfect dance partner. I think you have persuaded me. It's Amazon time!
3:32 Is So Hilarious! Mark Hitting Derek With The Game Boy Micro! Didn't See That Coming At First! LOL!
Should i get one of these? i got a gameboy color so i don't need backwards compactibility.
Troll4ever31 ._. If you dont mind the fact that the screen and buttons are super small , smaller than the SP, then its worth getting

FUCKING EVERYWHERE!
+Troll4ever31 ._. Yep you should, i play Mario games on mine all the time .
I think that's the main purpose of these reviews. Putting entertainment above information. Often I'm cool with that, which is part of the reason I like CGR .
cough cough rechangeable faceplates cough cough
i have to say it, this is your best review!
"You can even hit people with it!" RIP my sides after that
I love how there's a big car in the background and he's just chilling reviewing the Game Boy micro
We all know the only reason you'd want a Game Boy Micro: To play Pokemon
It has one of the coolest intros of all gaming shows.... on par with AVGN.
Great episode too.
love my micro

The 20th anniversary edition looks like the original famicom!
rAdiant Jet I just picked that exact one up today for $89! It doesn't have a charger yet though. :(
What does class reek like sir?
so tough finding a cheap one, might as well just give up
Yep.
Owen Payne found one actually, here's the thing, the seller had misspelled it as Game Bot Micro
emptyspotlight ebay?
Owen Payne yes on ebay!
+emptyspotlight how much did you pay for yours? I bought mine for only $65 in like brand new condition.
I just ordered one can't wait haven't held one of these since they first came out.
+waves flow niceeee
Why is there in there an El Camino in the room!?
Did he finally get his wish?
Yes.
Yes he did.
lol this review is so damn funny, "lets never do that again, that was weird" and i died when it cut to that shot of mark waltzing
LMAO "sophisticated"
Man, CGR just hits differently. keep it up mark.
I like that you generally have good things to say about everything.
You know what I like about your reviews? Even though you point out an item's flaws, you don't linger on them, and even then go to noting upsides. What was that rotating bar game? Also, does it play 3DO games?
I've been wondering if (actually, when) you'll review the Micro. Best review ever for this beautiful little console.
I can watch this over and over again never gets old
Mark twirling around with the Gameboy Micro makes this whole video
htttp?

Still my favorite iteration of the GBA hardware. Good review!
sometimes i ask myself if he will ever fail to out do Himself every single review.
love em GOOD REVIEW's!! c:
This is most likely one of the greatest CGR reviews.
Love the begining with the two voices lol
It’s good to know that I’m not the only one who dances with their consoles
I love your reviews Mark!
I acquired 2 at one point or another and have a swanky all silver gb micro. I love that little system, the tighter pixels make games look beautiful.
Mark journey to insanity is almost complete. Love you man!
forgot how much i love this channel
CGR is becoming quite the musical excursion lately. I like it.
That box is like TOTALLY different to the one released here in Australia. I picked my Micro up for $50 brand new. Best $50 I ever spent!
the music was just awesome, love the show and the style
bought mine maybe 5-6yrs ago....just found it today hahaha. freaking loved it.bought it to play in class back then hahaha
The output audio is great. I was surprised.
The music goes along with the class of the Micro!
The pirouette at 2:30 made me laugh, thanks! Amazing how Nintendo managed to get that system so small.
I saw a Game Boy Micro at a Pawn Shop for $90 back in January 2017 and also saw a stack of Game Boy Advance games right next to it I looked at it and I was like "that's the 1st time I saw a Game Boy Micro in person" "I've never seen one in person"
His videos are so peaceful I haven't buried till I watched it high RN lol
This has to be the best CGR review ever!
In Europe, the box is much smaller! Great review, awesome handheld with the best screen
You gave it such an awesome review, I want people to see me play it.
I have one of these! Along with my Game Boy Player for my Gamecube, I can play any GBA game, on the tiny micro screen, as well as my 32 in. TV at home.
I'm so happy Mark enjoyed the Game Boy Micro I sent him. My life is now complete!
I am still playing GBA on my Release-Purple original system (Pokemon Leafgreen Emerald FTW!). Is it called the Gameboy advanced Micro or the Gameboy Micro?
What was the game 4:22 ? And will this play Pokémon Fire Red?
Edit: It was F-Zero, but will it play Fire Red?
Hit people with it lol I friggin' love your reviews Mark. Rock on!
Love the background music
I

y!I have been waiting for this episode! Finally!! I have the Famicom edition micro and it's amazing!! :D
I laughed out loud when you put it in the Genesis! Best review yet! But I would like to see more Heyzoos the Coked-Up Chicken!
You guys from CGR made me buy 2 micros and 2 DS Lites last month :D
2:31 This is Mark's best review in a long time!
Lol best Gameboy Micro review I seen so far.
2:07-Hey, that's a Pluster World thing on the GBA! Any chance that may be reviewed?
Have had a kinda crappy game day and this video cheered me up a little bit :) thank you for that.
I love how this show has gone from dial-up to broadband and only gotten better.
2:30 Reminded me of the Dance Dream in Hudsucker Proxy.
"outdoor simulation wall 9000" I'm digging that.
Hi I was wondering,
what size the screws on the top are and where could I get some from?
Also where could I buy a new faceplate?
Faceplates are all over ebay
Mirror rim Really? Every time I've looked they are impossible to find, unless of course you don't mind spending $100.
I love how in the description in the category it says "science fiction"
