Thanks for watching!
Hey guys! Hope you enjoyed this episode. It was great to finally tell THE FULL story of how I got Mega Man: The Wily Wars and Rockman & Forte! If you're wondering, Rockman & Forte eventually got a release on the GBA in North America as Mega Man & Bass. These were some really special times in my life. I hope you were able to connect and maybe relive some memories of your own. Thanks for watching! All the best, Tyler
Sup man, just came across your channel, pretty cool to have a peak into the past.. but I'm curious, what was Dad's background/career, he's obviously a tech guy, considering camcorders were expensive, and not widely used, but he also knew how to get over seas titles, and used the term "sprite" regarding a MegaMan boss.
Make a video about your TV's it looks like you had the same one but did you upgrade?
Man the 90s.... I think about those days almost daily. Being a kid I'm the 90s was something to behold especially if you were a gamer. If I had a time machine I'd go back in a heart beat.
Going from regular NES to Super, then 32-bit was sublime.
To this day, my test for being a "gamer" is throw a fireball. Most fail...
Your dad was a Legend. We are pretty close in age. I think I am a few years older but I didn't know anybody at that time importing games like that.
Megaman 2 was the first game I ever played in my life. I'm a 1988 dude born and raised in Terceira Island, Azores, Portugal 🇵🇹 big hug Tyler, love your channel and all the nostalgia you bring up to me
Thanks for watching man! Appreciate every comment
I hold that same feeling for Nemo: Dream Master.
It was a super special Saturday morning, my first time spending the night at a friend's house.
He had five games (including Rescue Rangers and TMNT), which was mind-blowing in 1991.
Top 5 childhood memories.
RUclips has restored Comments on this video 🙏
Damn man, who was cuttings onions at the end?
Hey Tyler! I have to correct you on the Wily Wars. It was avaliable in the USA around the mid-1990s but not on cartridge form. It was avaliable as a Sega Channel exclusive. I had it back then so that's how I knew about it at that time. If you have the Sega Channel classics on Nintendo Switch, that version is exactly as I remembered on Sega Channel.
it's insane how good these videos make me feel
Oh god! Yes! The Goosebump collection. Every scholastic or troll order at school my parents would get me a Goosebumps book. I had around the first 35 books before i stopped getting them. I still cant believe you have all this recorded still. I wish i had these gem time capsules instead of distant foggy memories lol
Channel never gets old lol
These videos are so cool man, really does teach us the importance of capture our kids moments. Gonna remember this for my girl!
Your homie rocking a Rockets NBA World Champions shirt is epic! That's wild your Dad got The Wily Wars physical and imported! No Sega Channel needed! I spent a few summers buying & reading Knuckles comics (can't wait for his new series). I discovered "Rockman & Forte" thru emulation as well (loved the soundtrack). Seeing THAT on physical is incredible! Your Dad was a legend for real!
Excellent video. The cuts between 10 year old you, and younger you, enjoying the music. That was genius. Also, 10 year old you has great rhythm and pitch 😂
Awesome video! That is amazing that your Dad got those two Mega Man games for you and how cool to see it all captured on video!
90s... miss those times so much. Megaman 3 and 4 were my favorite NES games.
Awesome video!! Your dad was so ahead of the time! Thank you for sharing, Tyler.
Mega Man. One of the best games on the NES and the SNES. And in the Arcades and on the PS1 too.
Dude your Dad was the coolest lol for real
That Stuffed Crust pizza looked so sumptuous and delicious. 🤤
Literally one of the best RUclips channels around. I always look forward to a new video release from your channel
the megaman series is realy special to me,the first game i ever played as a kid was megaman 7 on the SNES then years later the first game i played on PS1 was megaman x6,so to me i think the megaman series is the one that i hold the most nostalgia in my life.
Damn bro your dad was a Chad.
Good nostalgic content here, takes me back!
You had a very cool Dad. Thanks for a blast from the past.
I was a huge Mega Man fan, too. My dad wasn't as resourceful as yours, but I got to play The Wily Wars on The Sega Channel. I was bummed the US didn't get a physical release
You and James Rolfe (Angry game nerd) need to do a video collaboration, just two guys talking about gaming memories. I’d watch that all day long.
Awesome, always waiting on the new upload. Love watching this video game history
This is so fantastic... who *didn't* hum along to Mega Man music as they played? I know I did, to that, and countless other games.
This Series is honestly one my favourite things to watch on yt! cant wait for more episodes
Love that! Thanks for watching
While I adore that Sonic shirt, Brian’s Houston Rockets shirt is legendary!
Your dad always found a way to get you the games you wanted. He really loved you man. I remember my brother and I didn’t get into Megaman till 2001 or 2002. Quite a game we played those years ago. Loving your content dude!
sweet, mega man and bass is one of my favorites
I love Mega Man and Mega Man 2 is wonderful. This is amazing I love these wholesome videos you share. A few days ago I went to the retro game store and saw many of the beloved classics and even played the arcade cabinets they have and It was fun. Also I find this funny you and your dad played a lot of Japanese games while I use to play games from Japan but also watch those classic martial arts movies great times. Cool video. ^_^
You were so lucky your Dad knew how to import. I got to see the games evolve from atari up as a kid so its cool to see it through his eyes. Even adults were excited a bout tthe small details like bigger sprites more back ground layers extc. I remember debating with my buddies how controlling a 3D game would work before it existed. We debated how the chrater would move there head and each leg lol.
Love it! Importing, that's dedication 😃👍 Such an awesome upload Tyler, thanks for sharing!
My fav gaming memory is still probably getting my PS1 with Resident Evil Director's Cut for my Bday, when I was in 6th grade. It was my first survival horror experience. To this day, my 2 fav gaming genre are survival horror, and Soulslikes, but Survival Horror was my first love in modern gaming.
Mega Man music is consistently on my workout playlist. I was totally Mikey dancing along to the music as a kid. I still do.
10/10 video once again
Thanks so much
Perfect video to end my night!!!!! Love it and every video you put out good sir! Thank you Tyler.
I can’t believe I got this
Dude had everything 😂
Wholesome videos, Thanks for sharing!
I watch these videos and get happy like it was me lol😂
Hey. This is Zaire Haylock. Happy Throwback Thursday.
megaman 4 was one of the first games I ever rented... I was 4/5 years old and was blown away by that intro
I have that wooden cabinet still!!! In your dads room haha
I have that same Rockman & forte game in its box and everything, 👍
This channel is absolutly fantastic! Jesus! Your parents
were just da best!
So when I hear “Rockman and Forte” I think to myself that I’ve never heard of that one, then I see the gameplay and I’m like “….Holy crap! Mega Man and Bass!”
So cool
I'm pretty sure I Mikey dance once a week. Thank you for showing this. Super amazing 🎉
bro how did you have a wireless controller in the 90-s?,,lol that may seem like a small thing to u but being from a what people call a third world country the idea of a wireless genesis controller in the 90s would have blown me away.
You had an awesome dad.
Just found your Channel. Bro this is Awesome. Shoutout your Dad bro With his Camcorder 🤙🤙
Kiss on the lips is crazy 🤣
Nice video! I'm actually very curious as to what that adapter was exactly that you used to play Wily Wars. Do you have a separate video on it? Had no idea that existed in the 90s
What kind of adapter did you use to play Mega Man: The Wily Wars? Was it a Mega/Super Key or something else? Rockman & Forte for the Super Famicom is one of my favorite Mega Man games and is my favorite Bass/Forte game.
I think Mega Man Wily Wars was released in the US, but only exclusive to the Sega Channel that time. It's stupid that they wouldn't release it as a physical cart.
Always enjoy your videos. Thank you for the great content 👍🏽
7:55
Yuur dad totally played it first when you were sleeping to make sure the adapter worked haha
My first game I really got into was the original Super Mario Bros. I used to make my mom watch me play it when I was a tyke, and I'd jump whenever I made him jump, and I always played standing up, close to the TV. I dunno why I did that.
It’s crazy how the newest Mega Man games are not very far off from the original ones. Mega man was one of my first too. And I have a few of the newer ones on my ps5. They’re all great.
8biteric sent me. Awesome video.
Funny I just got 2 mega man compilations for ps4 in the mail today. The X Legacy collection 1 & 2 and the Zero legacy collection. Never really got into the O.G. Nes games but dig the later titles. Love ur videos tho man, footage is pure gold. Keep em comin!
Great video
Awesome video Tyler!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Super cool!! I don't remember which one i played back in the day that i finish. If it was mega man 2,3 or 4. But i did finish the last one on the switch. Really cool game!!
I have to wonder when Tyler said Mega Man "was about to rock my world" if that was just a random comment or a reference to Mega Man being called Rockman in Japan... 😁 I'm a nerd so I consider things like that 😆
even your wireless snes controller is amazing...
Like how was your dad able to just get all these games and systems imported like that? Back in the day there was no online shopping or ebay where you could just search for it and buy it, he must have known someone and had major connections!
This was great! Have you played Mega Man Legends?
Wireless Genesis controllers?!
My favorite megaman game is battle network
Gosto muito de ver seus vídeos, apesar de eu colecionar hoje em dia, porque nao tive os vídeo games na época, mesmo assim é muito nostálgico ver vocês jogando nos anos 90
Maan!! Each time I see one of your videos >>> instantly Brought back to bergen County nj 1980s... Christmas and birtyhdays and all that .> but one thing I always think watching your Videos is >> HOW COOL IS YOUR DAD BRO !?!??! LIKE WOW >>> your dad was legit 1 in a TRILLION >> my pops played Games .. but ordering imports?!??! knowing he Needed an Adapter?!?! AMAZING >>> would love to have you on the show to share some stories.
I commented too soon.. The Video was not done yet >>>> so I wanted to Correct something .. YOUR DAD FOR SURE IS THE ULTIMATE DAD lol >>> EMULATORS ?!?!?! My Dad Called everything since NES "Nintendor" LOL
Yes new video❤❤
Cool!
Good one!!
Hey I really enjoyed this episode man ❤
like I was saying before RUclips turned off the comments I have this (Rockman & forte) complete in its box though it is slightly faded lol
Awesome video but have you ever played megaman legends one and two?
Why isn't MY RETRO LIFE a sitcom??? I can see this being bigger than The Goldbergs.
did anyone else collect the imported rockman toys from the late 90s to early 2000s? i still have all of mine
noice video man really radical
Stop, your videos are too good!
Lol mikey has good music taste.
My dads cool and all... but I really wish I could have had your dad!
I waited so much for this video Tyler, really. Ever since I saw you loving Mega Man 2. I tried to find anything related to this franchise in your top 10 NES/SNES games and i was actually surprised that you didn't put the X saga in that top.
I'll enjoy this video a lot. Thanks for the amazing content, you're an amazing guy
Yeah but that Megaman has Knuckles lock in/ lock on 😅😅😅
This is my comment because I can now make a comment. Lol. Awesome vid as always Tyler.
dang i didnt know they had wireless controllers back then
2:44 ummmmmmmmm well yes and no..... Mega Man The Wily Wars was actually being Released on the Sega Channel something you had to get for your Sega Genesis but Physical Release? No! Europe and Japan would have a Physical Release of the Game!
What happened to Brian? He was passed out in a doorway next to a trash can on the floor lol, Even your dad thought something was up lol
I’m curious. Are you and Brian still friends to this day?
How is the dog 🐩
are you still in touch with brian?
I wish i had your father!
Miss him every day man!
This proves the Genesis sound card was inferior to nes and SNES
Seems to have been mostly an American thing. Never seen much enthusiasm for the franchise here in The Netherlands. Don't hate em, but can't really see the massive appeal.
Why don’t you make a video on sonic 06 if you have ever played soccer 06
Mega man x sucked, I hated everything about it. Scrapped the level select and power stacking strategy of being able to changed the entire outcome of how you get secrets or kill bosses.
Wait, I'm confused here because MMX had all of that? If you completed certain stages prior to others, they actually affected other stages too. For example: Launch Octopus floods Sting Cameleons stage, Storm Eagles ship in his stage crashes and causes electric blackouts in Spark Mandrills stage, and Chill Penguins stage freezes Flame Mammoths stage.
Awesome video man!
