I am also. When he was in college, a week or so after winning the NCAA, but before winning the US am, he was at our course qualifying for the US Opnen. I walked into the bar to get a coke in the middle of my practice day (Sunday before the actual qualifying rounds) , and there was one guy there. Tiger was on the TV. This was the memorial the day after he shot an 85. I asked the guy how Tiger was doing, and he said "only hit 5 fairways, but 3 under". I looked at him and it took a moment, but I recognized him. I said "hey, you won the NCAA last week". "Yeah, I did" (sheepish grin) . I couldn't remember his name and he helped me.
So he and I talked for 20-30 minutes...mostly about physics and math. He was a physics major, I was a chemistry major. I mentioned I loved quantum mechanices, but did badly on my diff eq. course. He had the opposite experience, did well in diff eq, but didn't do well in quantum. I asked him how he could hit is long irons as far as he did, because the shaft lenght was the same as his seven iron, and he couldn't get the same clubhead speed, due the the short shaft. I felt a bit foolish when he told the the obvious answer, he just increased the mass, so the mass x velocity (momentum) was higher for his higher irons. The difficulty he had was in figuring out how to distribute the excess mass. It was a fun conversation. Felt like talking to a long term friend about mutual interests.
It's interesting to me to hear some criticize him, because they think he is just putting on airs when he talks about the science. NO. This guy has an engineering/science mindset, and the mind to pull it off. Those who criticize him don't know what it is like to dissect a problem into its component parts, like engineers and scientsts do, and approach a solution logically. He is the real deal. Bright, inquisitive mind.

The best part of the match for me was when Bryson challenged Rick after awful first putt on the third, and what was his thoughts and he was not happy with Ricks answer of time, taking too long to make a decision and you sure got the feeling Bryson thought he's sure wasting my time here and whether it was that or something said got Rick playing, he was gone up to then. I'm surprised a player of Bryson's stature is even bothering with a YT channel at this present time, but its awesome to watch. Love to see these type of challenges with say senior ex tour players, but nullifying Bryson's distance to say the limiting him to a club one less than their driver. I was humiliated by the great Bobby Locke , long after his hey day and his world famous putting stroke has gone and he wiped the floor with me, he put the ball where he wanted and missed nothing, it was cake walk for him without pressure

Rick, you're a good guy & you have improved your driver play, but your wedge play is shameful. You might as well have a garden trowel in your hands because all that will happen is that you'll dig a hole behind the ball. You're so bad that the following tip will work for you: stop looking at the back of the ball when you pitch or chip. Instead, look at the front edge of the ball. Don't question that advice; just try it.

    Rick: Hasn't broken 75 in 4 years
Also Rick: It's a challenging, championship level course, I'd be happy with mid 70's.

When Rick chunked his chip, my heart sank like i was the one hitting it. 😂 The pressure of teeing up with Bryson must be outrageous. Top marks Rick. We're all watching with green eyes 😂

Have loved these Rick and Bryson videos - Bryson seems like a genuinely great guy. If I got to choose his 3 clubs it would be 5 and 6 iron and 7 iron.

its insane how good pro golfers are. bryson could par every hole with a putter im convinced

I'd probably need to go Driver/3 Wood, mid-iron and a wedge that doubles up as a putter. But Bryson's distance off the tee just cuts out the need for an iron. Would love to see this guy win a major in 2024.

Bryson can you please do a video talking about some more basic stuff to swing like how far you stand from the ball for each clublike, ball positioning, aim, and talk about your zero shift swing? Your tutorial-based videos have shaved strokes off my game.

@9:06 so glad it isn't just me doing this nonsense. Been using rly old SW and PW so hoping the new wedges perform better. Buddy thinks new/modern clubs are going to cure all my problems, but I'm not convinced at all.
