- On 28 November 2013, comet ISON (C/2012 S1) rounded the Sun at over 350 km/s or 0.13% the speed of light! No one had any idea if it would survive perihelion. It didn't. And then it did. Kinda. And then it definitely disintegrated. Maybe.
