Yeah, Mario Party 1 can just be unforgiving. No items, losing coins in mini-games, stick-rotating games, frequent trips to Bowser, and more! Then again, Hudson Soft was just being experimental since this was the first game in the series. Mario Party 2 and 3 just improved on so much from the first game. Also, Choc's Wario World playthrough when? Honestly, I'd love to see Choc's reaction to such an insanely trippy game!
The N64 Mario Parties aged like fine wine, including this one. I'm personally not a fan of the newer games basically babysitting you the entire way through.

I would say it's rare for last place, on the last turn, to win. 16:58 Oh my God, that was an angry Vernias moment. Just as savage as the one he said to Peanut in that one video. Jesus, Vern is good to watch with being so wholesome in most content he's in and yet be mad in games like Mario Party.
This is actually my favorite one because you lose coins if you lose the minigames. makes it so much more competitive, and always return to this one over the others.
Choc, I can feel your pain. Whenever I play with my cousins they are constantly gunning for me, even when I’m in last. I’m actually mad that you didn’t win because of the last turn and bonus stars.
The most surprising thing about this video is seeing all those mini games that I thought were from Mario Party 2, and realize they were actually from Mario Party 1 but recycled in Mario Party 2.
Love thee original Mario parties. Mario party superstars has too many lucky/item spaces, items cost too little, and the game rewards you too much like you get 3 coins for getting second you shouldn’t get any but great video
This game was so much better than the newer ones. The mini games, board maps, and end board map cut scenes were all great. The newer ones aren’t as creative and original like the older ones.

Bro, I'm literally playing this game right now! And I've never actually played much of it. I own it on original hardware, but most of the time I just play it on emulator and as far as I can remember, I've never finished a single game in Mario Party 1. So, today's gonna be that day... and then this video comes out. Coincidence? I think not!
This is the way Mario Party 1 was intended to be played. By grown adults over the internet. That's the vision the guys at Nintendo had back in the 1990s.
Despite not aging well and the minigames feeling slow and clunky🤓 The First Mario Party STILL has the most boards of any Mario Party, but for the last 2 Bowser’s Magma Mountain and Eternal Star they require lots of grinding to even unlock, can anyone come out and say they unlocked them and which of them are their favorites aside from the base game boards?
Bowser's magma mountain is probably my fav board of all the N64 games just for the sheer chaos and brutality of the events space and the 50/50 on the paths
Eternal Star is my favorite, followed by Luigi's Engine Room and Bowser's Magma Mountain. I have actually done the grind to unlock those boards (as well as minigames and Minigame Island) multiple times. Actually had quite a bit of fun doing it too.
I unlocked them. I just got 4 controllers, set all 4 as CPUs, set it as a 50 turn game. Walked away for an hour or so, came back on turn 50. Change all the CPUs back to human players and got a lot of stars.
When I was a kid, I would play 4 player Mario Party with only myself for hours on end, and I did eventually unlock eternal star. I had a lot of time and didn't have so many friends back then, lol. My favorite map though was the Birthday Cake.
For true nostalgia this must be played in your rich friend's basement, on one of those projector TVs which makes the picture look like a collage of mush.
