    I'll be honest. If you listen to this song without knowing that they're visual kei, you might thinkg this is sung by tattoo-clad, manly-looking, flannel-shirt-wearing 30 somethings

      thats the thing, VK isnt about the sound but the style

      myke riot Nah. Visual Kei has a certain musical style that feels unique to itself. Even without the costumes, there's a distinct sound that makes Visual kei easy to recognize.
      Or maybe it's just me hahaha

      thats actually more of a outsiders opinion on it. most bands in japan dont claim that the music has to have a certain sound but just the style.

      SOme of the members are around 30.......and Hiro have been in deathcore bands before that.

      @@sexycavetroll2788 in the end there are some core directions that bands follow that do give it that distinct VK sounds. Especially when it comes to vocal styles. Also early progressive rock from the 80s is still a part of the sound up to this day thanks to Luna Sea making it popular. It just tends to have similar voicings. I produced a couple of bands in Japan.
