  • Make your own delicious BBQ sauce! This recipe makes a great base BBQ sauce where you can add other ingredients to make it your own.
    This recipe makes a THICK sauce - if you want a thinner consistency, use 2 cups ketchup, 3/4 cup Apple Cider Vinegar, and don't simmer as long.

    Quick and easy; what's not to like? I've used Ketchup before, which is okay. Hard to find a brand that is not loaded with syrup and sugar. My fallback is just basic tomato paste. So many variations can be used in your recipe. I've noticed that A1 sauce has one interesting ingredient; raisins. Food for thought. I look forward to coming up with a style of sauce just right for me. Thanks.

    Nice recipe. When I am in a hurry I have a sauce that does not need cooking that I make. It is fast but, of course, it might not develop the subtle flavors that you achieve by cooking.

    • @TruBBQtv
      @TruBBQtv  7 лет назад

      White vinegar or any type of vinegar you can get your hands on. The vinegar helps thin out the sauce, but more importantly helps prolong the shelf life of the sauce. If you don't have access to vinegar, use lemon juice. Thanks for watching!

      You can use it for dipping or to glaze the meat during the last 10 minutes of cooking. Never put sauce on the meat prior to grilling.

    • @wolfman011000

      I find A1 to have a more malted vinegar taste than HP sauce, while with the HP has a more sour flavour from the tamarid used in it. I got the A1 online for this recipe for the first time i made it, since then i have used HP sauce and have not noticed the differance, the quality of the ketchup used have a far bigger influance. I also made 2 small mods to the recipe 1) i used garlic paste from a jar 2) I use food proccecor to liquidize the onions , these are habits from making indian/asian recipea from my time in singapore . I tend to do large batches which i freeze in icecube trays then ziploc bags, makes for a quick and easy onions for many dishes.
