This is the song to my ex. Tried to make it work too many times but nothing was good enough. He became too controlling to the point where I couldn't have any friends unless I told him that they were "just friends" to me. He reminded me so much of my other ex. I couldn't really do anything without getting a dozen text messages during the day and if I didn't respond to them within a couple of minutes he'd overreact and send "are you okay?" "What are you doing?" texts... I asked him way too many times if he trusted me he said "ofc Hunny I trust you. And you trust me" But I know he didn't. Because he couldn't trust me to make friends without him worrying about them becoming more than friends. I told him that I'd never hurt him in any way and I also told his parents that. I'm not the kind of person to cheat on anyone. That's just not who I am. But nothing I said would make him stop bringing up his past relationships. His excuse was "It's just... I was tossed around by my ex's and it left a really bad scar on me and I couldn't get over it" But all relationships are built on trust. Two people have to be willing to fully commit to each other with everything in order for a relationship to work. But it would never work with us. I knew what I had to do. I broke it off with him. I couldn't keep going on like that, feeling that way and acting like nothing was going on because all it was doing was hurting me more. When I broke it off with him, I felt free. Like I was no longer being held captive. I did what was best for me and from now on I'm going to do what's best for me and not just for others. It's time to put my faith, my family and friends, and myself first. And if it's God's will for me to be with someone, it will be God's will. He is the only one who knows who I need in my life and only he can provide what I really need. I will find the right person and I will find my worth again. Because I deserve better. And not second best.
