It was an honor for us to have finally met you two after following you all on RUclips. Thank you for visiting Sugarite Canyon State Park and we hope to see you all again down the road. We wish you both safe travels. 😊❤ John and Leslie Camp hosts at Lake Alice Campground
It was SO good to meet you both! We loved camping there, it was so beautiful and such a wonderful campground! Hope to see you again down the road! I hope you enjoy your time at Rob Jaggers as much as I did! Might just see ya there!
It was truly our pleasure! Thanks so much for stopping by. And thanks for the trail recommendation! That hike is my next video and it was very special. We hope to see you guys down the road too. Stay in touch and happy and safe travels! :))
Hi Debra, I throughly enjoyed your video. I lol'ed when you guys were driving up (with not much in the way of guard rails) I noticed Frugal was straddling the double line at times. I recoginize thAT apprehension . . . I live at 5,600 and we have places further up the road with 10,000 ft. elevations! Beautiful scenery, lava rock formations, oh and . . . I think the four markers are there to let the bears know that it's a "leave no scat here" zone. Ya think? ;-)
Glad you enjoyed the video. :)) I did a little research and it appears the last eruption in NM was 3000 years and it is estimated that the Socorro magma body might erupt 10,000 years from now.
I think the "energized barrier" means that the fences on either side of the road are electric. Pretty sure you're safe pressing the button -- it probably just changes the traffic light so oncoming traffic stops.
I hear ya but the fence is not electric and there is no traffic light. This is the I-25 freeway overpass. It appeared the "barrier" was the one across the road (similar to a cattle guard). At the next exit, it looks like they poured rubber over the grids and the signs were on the ground. So bizarre!
Loved this video. I visited Capulin a week ago Sunday, I think it was a few days before your visit. I live in Colorado - and I found that drive to the top pretty harrowing. Just saying. I also found the trip back down to be much more fun! I'm all about hugging that mountain. I also loved old downtown Raton. Next time you're there, Bruno's is a local eatery with the best pizza.
You gals are too funny. Try traveling, "OH my God," Rd up and down once a week from Idaho Springs Colorado to Central City Colorado. It's a dirt road too. No guard rails either. It's soo fun!!
I'm so glad to see you feeling better, my friend! I can't say I have ever been down into a volcano before, so thanks for sharing the experience. I don't know what those markers were. Unless perhaps they were related to the signs you showed us afterwards? Maybe they marked some of the vents? Just guessing.
That is really neat. I have been by there on the way to Raton up to Colorado. I know they say inactive Volcano, but there have been several earthquakes there in past couple of years :) Thanks for the video.
I looked it up and you are right! Thx for sharing. 39 minor earthquakes near Raton in the last 365 days. WOW! However, this one is considered extinct and here are the definitions. "Volcanoes are classified as active, dormant, or extinct. Active volcanoes have a recent history of eruptions; they are likely to erupt again. Dormant volcanoes have not erupted for a very long time but may erupt at a future time. Extinct volcanoes are not expected to erupt in the future."
I bet that's right! I told Jana it reminds me of the road to Mt. Whitney portal - one of my favs. But then I also enjoyed the million dollar highway. It made me miss my Harley! 😍
@@authordebradickinson I bet you do miss your Harley. Stick your head out the window when you're driving. Lol! Ah, but you guys have the freedom of going anywhere you want to. Lovely.
I thought so too Susan, but was told no because the volcano is now considered extinct. "Volcanoes are classified as active, dormant, or extinct. Active volcanoes have a recent history of eruptions; they are likely to erupt again. Dormant volcanoes have not erupted for a very long time but may erupt at a future time. Extinct volcanoes are not expected to erupt in the future." 🤷🏻♀️
Very nice! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! :))
That was pretty cool 😎.
We thought so too, Dubs! 😍

So beautiful! Thank you for taking us there.
You are welcome, Robin! Thank YOU for always being here with us. HugZ!
Thanks for sharing. I love the rain white camping
IKR Judith?!? Let's catch up soon my friend. MUAH!
I have passed by there a few times but never visited the actual volcano. Thanks for sharing.
You would love it in person. Glad you enjoyed the video. :))
Hi Ladies.. WOW.. what a drive to the volcano!
IKR?!? :))
Excellent video. Maybe you should write a book about all these wonderful places you visit.
Great idea Norman! :)) Actually, I incorporate a lot of my life into my books, but ... Shhhh ... don't tell anyone. :))
I would be passing out on that road. Gives me the chills.
I know it affects some people that way. Makes me miss my Harley days! 💯👍🏼😍
Wow….steep incline. Glad you opted NOT to go off the path to the mouth of the volcano!!! Lol
LOL. I wonder how many people walk right around that sign. 😳
Nice video. I enjoy rides like that even though they scare me. Enjoy life.
Thanks for the video.
You are welcome! Thanks for being on this journey with me! :))

"leave no scat here" zone ... Love it! :))
Great that you had the road to your self...I think that would have been scary to pass another vehicle 😮 Jana, has good driving skills 👌
Yes she does! And yes it would have made it even worse. 🤪
Great video. There are more volcanos in the US than most people realize. I knew there were a few dormant volcanos. You can find map on line.

What a way to get High!!!
The best! 😂

Thanks Suzanne! I'm sorry we missed you. Yum, pizza. :))
The electric fence is for bears.

I think I would love it! Especially if I still had my Harley. :))
OMG! Trina! I just noticed that you are my newest channel member. Welcome! Woohoo! :))

Good guesses. I learned a lot that day. Love ya Lisa! :))
I think the red things on that tree might be crab apples.
We weren't sure. Google lens kept coming up with both as an option. Thanks Patrick! :))
@authordebradickinson I just got lucky remember them from when I was very little. My Mom knew how to mix some other fruit to make jelly.

10:32 mark: They might be marking underground tunnels, for all we know. There are 1000s of miles of tunnels beneath us that is never talked about...
Beautiful for sure. Reminded me of driving up and down to go to Big Bear, CA. Winters were fun. Not. Another adventure!
I bet that's right! I told Jana it reminds me of the road to Mt. Whitney portal - one of my favs. But then I also enjoyed the million dollar highway. It made me miss my Harley! 😍

Thanks for sharing my parents! They love camp hosting! They are so adorable! (Also my daughter has control over my account 😂)
LOL. That's hilarious. And you are welcome. We really enjoyed meeting them and hope to see them again. KOKO!
Yikes! Those markers might be some kind of geological monitoring devices.
