Can't believe I came across this. I served in K Troop 3rd Squadron 2nd Cavalry Regiment from 1979 to 1982. What memories it brings back to see the barracks.
I was stationed there ‘71-‘72, I think in those very barracks! This is my first time seeing this video. Anyway, My MOS was “05b20”-a radio operator with the Armored Calvary Regiment. I was in charge of an APC and a jeep, both equipped with my radio equipment. My most impacted memory was standing in line to get my pay, when the Command Officer’s idiot male secretary came up to me and gleefully handed me my orders to Viet Nam! Within 10-15 minutes I was also handed a telegram from my mother, stating that my brother was just killed there (VN.). Since I was the last surviving son, I was honorably discharged, and within about a week, on my way home! A couple of friends from back then were Steve Karpinsky and Mike Johnson. If one of you see this, hope you went on to have a good life!
I was there in July of 72 so maybe if you hadn't left yet, I may have run across you. I was in How battery and ended up as the number 1 man on Sgt. Hay's Gun Section. We won the Trophy for the 1973 Best Gun Section in USARAUE (hope I got that right:))! When I first arrived in 72 we had the old shorter barreled Howitzers. In late 72 we received new M105 Howitzers (they were called M 105s back then, now M 109s) with the camo paint jobs and long barrels.
Pretty sure I do. I vaguely remember the theme being Hawaiian. I was a lowly private so wasn’t supposed to be allowed to be there, but we snuck in anyway. That was back in ‘71-‘72.
Pablo Lopez Hey, name is Phil Ariano. Think we may even have shared a room for a while. Let me know when a good time to call is or can give me a call at 586 222 4035 any time before 9-9:30 pm. Your in Florida ? So same time zone as myself.

That looks like L-Troop if I'm looking at it correctly. How Battery would be direct across from it.
