No offence... But I've read all the memoirs, and by far "fake laughter, real tears" is the best. "Is murder legal yet" is pretty good but lacks the emotional punch the "fake laughter..." had, and it focuses too much on his anger. But I get where your from.
He's the best. I love the bit when Conan's giving staff performance reviews around the workplace. When he comes to Andy's office, Andy doesn't even turn his head to look at him and just yells "GET OUT!".

honestly at the beginning i thought this was a decently funny sketch for conan standards but kind of thought it would lose its legs, but then they really took this to an unexpected place, with the covers being closer and closer, and it blew me away. i think this will go down as a classic conan sketch. plus the crowd at the end is great.

My Lectern My Prison is a criminally underrated volume of the 18 part Epic. The absolute dichotomy between achieving one's dreams and aspirations while simultaneously suffering in agony is elegantly captured in the humorous, cheeky, classic Richterian style prose.
How would you contrast Andy's growth with his first volume in the his 18 part opus and the last one in his series. As you mentioned, "struggling with the absolute dichotomy," he begins to lose his Herculean battle between his family and his work with "dum-dum." You can sense the righteous anger, the frustration with having to laugh at his bosses' so called sense of humor . . . and sadly the loss of his humanity and self respect. Truly, a saga that refocuses man's duality between his duty and his sense of humor. One can only imagine the emotional damage that Andy went through . . . and possibly would still be going through if Conan's show hadn't been suspended.
This is why Andy is just so great, what a legend, he's so funny, from Benny Bang in that Mary-Kate & Ashley film 'New York Minute' to being a wonderful sidekick, would love more Andy involvement

Everyone talks about the zoomed-in cover photos, but I love the variety of cover text styles, especially "I Want To Punch His Face So Hard". I think that's the style they use for a specific line of classic novel reprints.
