the wedding card one reminds me of my dad. he's notoriously bad at buying gifts and getting cards, hence how basically my sister mom and I usually handle it. but he likes to try. this happened when he was still working, he was a miner so his schedule was all over the place. one night he came off work and handed my mom her anniversary gift and card. the card was in french and he bought her men's cologne. we laughed at it and i still make fun of him for it to this day. there were also the times he would take her to Costco for their anniversary date. my mom didn't mind, she would mention it on a few occasions, she liked the hotdogs there. they've been married 37 years so they don't care about the fancy stuff anymore, guess it's more about the time spent together that matters to them. they are truly a one in a million couples lol

The tie story reminds me of a lady that worked at the same company but a different department. She was very personable and fun to be around. She had a collection of earrings that included Christmas tree bulbs, miniature knives and forks, and irregularly shaped brown blobs. When asked, she would gleefully state that they were made from elk poop!

Regarding the ties. I LURVE ugly ties! I have quite the collection. Patients, clients and coworkers would gift me them whenever they came across them in Op-shops. They'd see something repulsive, comment on it and realise 'Tamsin would love this!' I made sure that nothing over a dollar would be accepted. Funnily enough, this issue was never raised.

Reminded me of all the ties I have hanging in my closet. I've been buying and wearing ties since the 1970's so I have some decent ones but most are out of style now. I should take a few and keep them while donating all the others to a thrift store. Some ladies would enjoy the colors as well as the size since all of them are fairly large ties.

That second story sounds like something that an Air Traffic Controller did some years ago just after NATCA-FAA negotiations when the FAA made them wear suits to work. This one guy that I heard of wore the most hideous and gaudy suits that he could find just to drive the point home. Three years later at the next round of negotiations, the FAA let that dress code get dropped.

Ties are a dangerous weapons. A friend had a F-You tie with the words hide in the paternn. He also had an 8 inch wide tie that hung to his knees.
I had musical ties that went off playing music at random.
I also have a story from HS. My class were as casual as the dress code would allow. Not torn stuff, but that old favorite T-shirt. And not tucking in dress shirts.
One of the teachers made a remark that we looked terrible and were a disgrace to the school, and had know idea how to dress well.
Oh, yeah it started way beck in the mid '60s--malicious compliance.
so the class got together and agreed that we would wear button down shirts with ties. YES, the ugliest shirt and tie combination that we could find. My fathers closet got raided and I went to school with a 1940s with paterned tie with a Madras plaid shirt. We were a spectacle. The student body knew immediately that we could not be touched for what we did.
The teacher who started the rebellion simply shook his head and said he would never criticize our choice in clothing again.
Another Teacher said he was going to criticize our ties, but realized he had some just like them in his closet.
They took their loss with grace and good humor. I'm glad I went to that school.

Every bus company I know of requires you to get one when you pay your fare.
So if these people expected to take that bus all the way to their destination, they wouldn't think to ask for one when they got on...
The only place I can think of where you can get a transfer long after paying your fare is the Toronto Subway System.
There are (or were 20 years ago when I last rode it) transfer dispensing machines at every place where passengers exit the subways and can get a surface bus, as your leaving the building, hit a button on the machine and you now have a ticket for the bus to finish your trip...

Whilst working for BRITISH RAIL during the 1980s for summertime wear an alternative to the cotton/poplin mix lightweight button down shirts a polo type shirt was brought in. So train crews had two sets of shirts. The trouble started when briefly an ammendment to the rules was brought in stating that "Ties must be worn all times in the public eye". This fell apart when about 5,000 drivers turned up for work wearing their dark blue polo shirts with railway ties. It looked ridiculous and as was not actually breaking the rules, quickly got reworded and went back to the old workings.

I must have missed the story about the guy who thinks he is the owner of the building. Or did I miss it? I checked twice and do not think I missed it. I think it is another case of a RUclips author not able to put the right title on the video. If I am wrong I apologize and hope someone can give me the time marker for when the story in the title starts.

@@mannydavis7708 It seems to be indicative of many things today. Why bother to check your work? Why bother to make sure things are right? Just rush to post and who cares. I wonder what this author would say if, say, he went in for surgery and they removed the wrong organ and then they said, "Well it is like your youtube channel titles - close enough and we just wanted to get the operation done."

I worked for Radio Shack Canada back in the 90s and they had the stupid tie rule too, So i looked for the worst ties I could find and because we sold Segs games at the time I even found things like Sonic the Hedgehog ties, customers loved it, management hated it, I was ex-military and since we were near a military base, a lot of the people from the base used the store and didn't like to talked up into buying stuff, so I'd get a lot sales from military people, only stayed there about a year, and with Radio Shack, if you quit, you got Black Listed and could never work for them again. Now they are The Source and are owned by Best Buy another crappy outfit.
