I think you should test 60hz, 144hz and 240hz capped vs uncapped frame and input latency. 60hz @ 60, 90, 150, 300, and uncapped, 144hz @ 150,200,300 and uncapped as well as 240hz @ 300, 400, and uncapped. Let those who have a financial incentive from doing the research do the testing and let me know what I should run. I am absolutely open to having my mind changed, and this would make great content. yo i have a question, im not sure if it happens to all of you or just me but. How do I see the corpse instead of those Circe pads when you kill someone?
One mistake you guys made on the video is that you do not want to play with your FPS uncapped. This has been tested thoroughly in CSGO and other FPS games. If you leave the FPS uncapped your CPU will become the bottle neck from draw calls. This will cause you to have more latency through the entire chain (especially the network side) because the CPU has to wait for a break to send packets causing your bullets to register a bit slower. You want to uncap the FPS to see what your average possible FPS is then dial it down a bit, usually you do like 200ish FPS cap for 144hz and 300-400 cap for 240hz. You just want the cap a bit higher than your monitor's refresh rate but lower than what the CPU/GPU together are capable of. For instance in CSGO I get 500-600fps uncapped with my personalized setting and resolution. I set my max fps to 400 and that leaves a cushion of available CPU resources to be able to instantly send out my inputs (bullets) through the network card and so on. I'm not trying to put you on blast or anything, I have just obsessed over this kind of stuff for longer than I'd like to admit and I would like to give everyone (including you guys) the correct information. Some of this stuff is extremely hard to find but it's out there, I just figured I'd save you some time and deaths. Anyway, awesome video as usual, really solid information, keep up the great work guys!
Mmh i saw the video, and that's not what it is about. In the video, he don't talk about the network aspect at all. In general, capping the FPS don't do as much for the input lag. But in some game, like Gears 5, Battlefield V, Overwatch, PUBG, using the IN-GAME limiter does improve your input latency if it make your game not GPU limited anymore (less that 99% of use). But it has to do with the game engine limiter. He tested in severall others game (like CS:GO) and it increase the input lag. So unless you're talking about an other video and something else (in that case show me the video you're talking about), i think it's inexact. In definitive we don't know if Valorant can benefit from that. Someone need to do some testing with the limiter.
@@Agxk146 I would do 200, but if you have a really strong system and can easily do over 300 fps on average (while uncapped) then feel free to do 250 or even 300. The big thing is that you don't want to cap it at 300 if you jump around from like 150-300 fps, because the system will always be hovering around it's max and will be inconsistent in random spurts.
@@ectotrix7399 I apologize, I was pretty sure that was the video, I do admit that I did pull that part from memory; however, it is well known that running "fps_max 0" is a great way to get inconsistency. I would say that you should go test it for yourself. I have done my own testing over the years and what I originally stated is what I have found to be true. So turn off the fps cap and check your frame times, along with the cpu/gpu latency then play a game or run around. You will see more consistent results when the system is not running wide open. It is a balancing game between available resources and overall load. If you max out the frames or the load you will have inconsistency not only in game but with your system as a whole. That is why the majority of CS pros play with the fps capped at 300-400 fps. My previous incorrect video reference was honestly an after thought that I put on there at the end, but does not change the point or the way that things function. Rather it shows the same point just under a heavy GPU load rather than CPU. That said, your CPU is responsible for far more than just draw calls, it has to handle network traffic, sound, VOIP and literally everything else that is running in the background. I am not here to offend or upset anyone, and I do apologize if I did. I'm just trying to help as stated in the original comment. Go test it for yourself and do what works best for you! I just heard the man say to run fps uncapped and I felt like I needed to say something so that anyone that decides to read this can experience less frustration from getting killed because they changed a setting way back when and didn't fully understand what they were doing. I am not trying to get anything out of this, I just feel like I have to say something when I have had first hand negative experiences from doing the same thing. Edit: I removed the video reference from the original post to avoid confusion. It was something that I remembered being helpful but it seems it is doing more harm than good. It is still absolutely true that you do not want to leave the FPS uncapped. It is a balancing game between available system resources and overall load and maxing out the system will cause inconsistency. I really do hope that this helps!
I bought a 144Hz monitor 2 weeks ago, and maaaan, how smooth games became! You have to actually see it, to understand. I see 60Hz stuttering since then, compared to the smoothness of 144Hz. Even just moving your mouse on the desktop is much more smooth!

this a common mistake everyone does... invest a lot in build and a very bit for the peripherals... actually peripherals are the one that matters alot than the build...

I like your videos. But how in hell can you recommend to disable the FPS-limiter in Lobby or while in background? That is how to improve your electric bill, nothing more. Just disable this in game guys!
It can save on your bill, but those savings are mostly pennies per year. If you were saving a few bucks, then yeah, it would make more *cents* (haha 😂, dad jokes, sorry😅). If a few pennies are going to break the bank for someone, then maybe they need to pick a different hobby? I'm not trying to say I have some unlimited amount of income, or that EVERYONE else does, but a few pennies a year shouldn't be a factor for one to run max FPS vs a locked 60 FPS. Also, how long do you plan on staying in the lobby screen? When the GPU ramps up again, it causes an electrical surge that would use more electricity than it would need to run at it's max power draw. It's like a car. When trying to reach a certain speed from a complete stop, you would use more fuel than someone who was already at that speed, or someone who was already moving at a slower speed trying to reach that specific speed.
@@leo-ub6nb As an electrical engineer I can say that this is not true. And yes I am running the Client in Background or Lobby most of the day. So at least 2 Hours a day. The difference between idle and 90% load on the gpu, which in fact unlimited fps is generating, are about 100 Watts in my case. 2 hours a day for a year makes this 73 kWh. That are about 20€ in my country. I never experienced bugs and I can just recommend to save these "Bucks"
Also your PC will not run as hot which reduces noise and in summer will help to keep your room cooler. I see literally not reason why anyone should turn this to unlimited to be honest.
@@l3l4ckR4sp3rry2 But if you're worried about saving the 20€, then why would you leave the game running in the background for 2+ hours a day? For you wanting to save, you end up wasting more electricity, no? 🤔 I'm looking at it as a person who is solely playing a game, not running multiple tasks in the background, besides their music. If I'm on my PC to get work done, I'm not having a game just run idle in the back for 2+ hours. Or did I misunderstand you? 😅 If I didn't, then leaving the game running in the background is the opposite of your goal, saving €.

Great guide as always! 💜 I was wondering if you guys could make a guide, or more likely a mini guide where you teach us what to buy in the second round after you won a pistol round. For me, after I win the pistol round, I'm kinda uncertain of what should I buy? Should I just full buy with an spectre + util. and 50 armor, or should I opt in for a ghost and util + small armor, to have for full buy in third round in case we die (happens a lot even with the spectre and 50 armor). I'd appreciate that or if I can get more opinions. Is anyone else having my dilemma?
This is one of the best and most useful guides I've ever seen, and the outside games settings helped me for other games too. Keep it up SkillCapped I really rely on your videos.
It just means your cpu has 4 or less threads so you can't have multi-threaded rendering because if you had the option and turned that on, it either wouldn't change anything or lower your fps slightly.
*THIS VIDEO FORGOT AN IMPORTANT FPS TIP* *Unlimiting the FPS is NOT ALWAYS the way to go for 100% of the PC specs out there* They do not discuss a concept called *FRAME PACING* For example, if your particular spec or computer can run a higher frame with unlimited option, but it chugs the computer in a way that the FPS is not smooth, bouncing up and down in a way where you are seeing shifts in FPS making the feel of he game inconsistent you should actually limit the FPS at the highest consistent point. For example, if you have a 144 HZ monitor, your game IS able to run at 144FPS, but inconsistently bouncing from 100 FPS to 144FPS depending on what scene or area of the game you are in or looking at, in this case, there is a 40fps gap and it’s at the low end of the FPS range (for ex, 600fps vs 300fps has a 300 FPS gap but it’s so high you won’t feel it), you should instead limit the FPS and your Monitor to 100fps (and hz, especially if you don’t have free sync/gsync) Scenarios where this is important: - FPS dropping in the middle of a gun fight can be common for certain specs of PC. It’s frustrating to feel inconsistency. The dozen or so more frames is usually not as important as a consistent feeling - input variation. You probably won’t feel this notable but it is happening and might affect a 1% scenario - stuttering. For some PC (usually on the cusp of able to play vs not able to play spec wise), the game may stutter due to uncapped FPS causing frame pacing issues.
@@3ericw to be honestly for 90% people, even capping it at 120fps no longer matters. I personally run the game at 300fps easily but Hoose to cap at 144fps for consistency purposes. While going over 144 fps can be felt, the 1% scenarios where the advantage mattered is marginal even for pros. Linus Tech tips didn't video on it with Shroud and some casual gamers as well as hardcore none professional gamers. Result was that after 144 it's pretty much the same.
phew, i'm glad i had some of these settings already in place as my computer isn't the best. although, this guide taught me sooo much especially changing saturation and the meaning of things in settings. Thank you for your thorough guide!!
Yes because it's more complicated that "it's capped". To make it simple, your fps are variable, your refresh rate isn't. I refer you to this video for more informations : ruclips.net/video/hjWSRTYV8e0/видео.html
Yes you still want to increase it. It's honestly a bit complicated as to why, but you will still receive a small benefit from having a higher fps even though your refresh rate is lower.
ruclips.net/video/OX31kZbAXsA/видео.html If you want some proof from ACTUAL pro gamers. Some good info on this. Oh, did I mention it has Shroud in it? 😂
I see you turned Anti-Aliasing off. In some other guides people recommend to turn it on but to the lowest setting -> MSAA 2x. They say the picture will become a bit more clear and it might help to spot enemies better.
How to improve your fps? Step one: accidentally pure water on your old computer or laptop. Step two: buy new one 😆 Just kidding, happy with what you have 😇
@4:37 i didn't even know I had to manual change it. I thought it was by default. I've had my current monitor for more/less than a year and I never did that. Thank you for that advice and will more than likely help in game!
oh my god THANK YOU. my fps is always low (i play on a laptop and its a dell lol) and its been stressing me out because the game becomes unplayable and i lag out all the time. i really appreciate this guide, truly.
for the people that leave chrome on der is an option to turn off hardware acceleration by just going to settings of chrome and search hardware acc and just turn it off
I can't believe how long I had my Windows native refresh rate set to 60hz. BRUH. Highly recommended video for anyone needing video settings for this game, or even just in general. xD
this video helped me so much, i didnt even realize i wasnt using the full potential of my 144hz monitor + i went from having less than 15 kills in DM to getting 40 the game after this video. thanks man. gonna get into some actual games now lol
If you have G-sync enabled on your monitor, you don't have to manually set your monitors refresh rate. It will match the refresh rate of your monitor with your GPU, even if you have it set to a lower refresh rate
thanks for the advice with the monitor settings, have a 144hz monitor for like over 2 years now and didn't even notice that its set in the options to 60 Hz, big yikes
If you cap your game at you refresh rate, you don’t get the input lag of V-sync but lose some frames, however this doesn’t make a huge difference as you wouldn’t see those frames anyway, and you no longer have screen tearing. (Only use this tip for 144hz+)

I'm looking at it as a person who is solely playing a game, not running multiple tasks in the background, besides their music. If I'm on my PC to get work done, I'm not having a game just run idle in the back for 2+ hours. Or did I misunderstand you? 😅 If I didn't, then leaving the game running in the background is the opposite of your goal, saving €.
that color vibrance setting was exactly what i needed thx
this channel is honestly amazing, even if ive done everything already or the skill guides dont apply to me i still love watching them or sending them to friends as i trust the things being said and everything is of the upmost quality! keep up the amazing work
Thank you ❤️
This helped me a TON it was like 10 fps before and now it feels extremely smooth like 200fps even tho in the corner it says 30 but it litterally feels like 200fps with no lag I really recommend this
Great guide as always! 💜
I was wondering if you guys could make a guide, or more likely a mini guide where you teach us what to buy in the second round after you won a pistol round. Is anyone else having my dilemma?
always force the second round if your team wins
Omg the Best fps boost video on valorant that i ever seen thank you so much!!!!
Hi skillcapped! Can you make more wallbang videos? The bind one is super good!
Definitely leaning towards doing for the new Ascent map since almost the entire wallmap is wallbangable
This is one of the best and most useful guides I've ever seen, and the outside games settings helped me for other games too. Keep it up SkillCapped I really rely on your videos.
I dont have the multi-rendering stuff in settings.
means you dont have a powerful machine
Same, ryzen 2400g cpu
It just means your cpu has 4 or less threads so you can't have multi-threaded rendering because if you had the option and turned that on, it either wouldn't change anything or lower your fps slightly.
@@aryamansadal4826 I have a rx 570, 16 gb ram and a core i5-8500 8th gen but still dont have multi thread rendering

Thank you so much this really helped with my fps and helped me know i just have to play good now
the game looks very ugly now, thanks
in a good way
At 17:18 it says cheats in the tab bar lol
Thankyou very much it makes a lot different for my gameplay and fps
*THIS VIDEO FORGOT AN IMPORTANT FPS TIP*
*Unlimiting the FPS is NOT ALWAYS the way to go for 100% of the PC specs out there* They do not discuss a concept called *FRAME PACING* For example, if your particular spec or computer can run a higher frame with unlimited option, but it chugs the computer in a way that the FPS is not smooth, bouncing up and down in a way where you are seeing shifts in FPS making the feel of he game inconsistent you should actually limit the FPS at the highest consistent point.
For example, if you have a 144 HZ monitor, your game IS able to run at 144FPS, but inconsistently bouncing from 100 FPS to 144FPS depending on what scene or area of the game you are in or looking at, in this case, there is a 40fps gap and it’s at the low end of the FPS range (for ex, 600fps vs 300fps has a 300 FPS gap but it’s so high you won’t feel it), you should instead limit the FPS and your Monitor to 100fps (and hz, especially if you don’t have free sync/gsync)
Scenarios where this is important:
- FPS dropping in the middle of a gun fight can be common for certain specs of PC. It’s frustrating to feel inconsistency. The dozen or so more frames is usually not as important as a consistent feeling
- input variation. You probably won’t feel this notable but it is happening and might affect a 1% scenario
- stuttering. For some PC (usually on the cusp of able to play vs not able to play spec wise), the game may stutter due to uncapped FPS causing frame pacing issues.
If you have a gsync 165 hz monitor and can hit that consistently do you recommend capping at 165? Slightly over?
@@3ericw to be honestly for 90% people, even capping it at 120fps no longer matters. I personally run the game at 300fps easily but Hoose to cap at 144fps for consistency purposes. While going over 144 fps can be felt, the 1% scenarios where the advantage mattered is marginal even for pros. Linus Tech tips didn't video on it with Shroud and some casual gamers as well as hardcore none professional gamers.
Result was that after 144 it's pretty much the same.
@Jonathan Lim mine is basically toasted.. like the stutter is insane. I get like 20 or 30
You are my to go valorant tips and tutorial and I’ve actually did get better with your tips, keep up the good work and help more people 👍🏻
Please make a video on viper setups or cypher setups
This channel is super useful and really dope with the editing at the same time.
Its not 100% true, ur Monitor might be able to play 144 Hrtz but u might not have the right cable to support the monitor
That's actually a good point. Some people may use an HDMI cable or a cable that doesn't support a higher refresh rate. I forgot about that one.
@@skillcappedvalorant My DP cable broke and I switched to a HDMI cable I had at home. I don't see any differences.
ITler Newer HDMI cables and ports support higher refresh rate, but for a long time DP was the only way to go
The information you provided is crystal clear, and you have a very nice voice. Keep it up bro!
*Remember kids:*
higher FPS won't affect your gameplay untill you have a 144hz+ monitor
Well unless you have a crappy PC that is playing 30 fps on 60 hz, then you might want to fix that
Thank you like this is the best guide I’ve ever seen
"turn VSync off" *me dying in screen tearing*
Turn on gsync
Can't wait for a Cypher guide !
Thanks for the vids :)
Me who bought a 60hz monitor thinking it was 144hz and complaining why I only got a maximum of 80 fps
same🙋♂️😪
phew, i'm glad i had some of these settings already in place as my computer isn't the best. although, this guide taught me sooo much especially changing saturation and the meaning of things in settings. Thank you for your thorough guide!!
So I run roughly 160 fps and my moniters hz are 60, is there still really a reason to increase it if it is capped by my refresh rate?
Yes because it's more complicated that "it's capped". To make it simple, your fps are variable, your refresh rate isn't. I refer you to this video for more informations : ruclips.net/video/hjWSRTYV8e0/видео.html
Yes you still want to increase it. It's honestly a bit complicated as to why, but you will still receive a small benefit from having a higher fps even though your refresh rate is lower.

If you want some proof from ACTUAL pro gamers. Some good info on this. Oh, did I mention it has Shroud in it? 😂
you can overclock monitor hz
@@velo2650 wow 60 hz to 65 hz is a big difference
i just realized i've been using 60 hz on a 120 hz monitor this whole time thanks to this video
I see you turned Anti-Aliasing off.
In some other guides people recommend to turn it on but to the lowest setting -> MSAA 2x.
They say the picture will become a bit more clear and it might help to spot enemies better.
Completely fair point. If you find it helps you spot enemies better then by all means turn it to its lowest setting.
My Pc and monitor is more clear at MSAA 4X and its more clear, u should try MSAA 4X too
Great info guy. Good work.
Warning, this settings only work if you're already good at the game, trust me
i don't think your skill has anything to do with the performance of your computer

Bro u really are helping me alot with this game!!!
How to improve your fps?
Step one: accidentally pure water on your old computer or laptop.
Step two: buy new one 😆
Just kidding, happy with what you have 😇
what?
@4:37 i didn't even know I had to manual change it. I thought it was by default. I've had my current monitor for more/less than a year and I never did that. Thank you for that advice and will more than likely help in game!
How to be Pro

When u get only 40fps
How do u get 40 FPS? I play on an i3 processor and get 110-130 FPS with no problems
If I have 40 fps I would quit the game
Feels more like a guide for people that have never played a PC game before
Your video actually helped alot thank you
Thank you! This is the first time I knew about digital vibrance.
Brilliant guide - thank you and well done!
oh my god THANK YOU. my fps is always low (i play on a laptop and its a dell lol) and its been stressing me out because the game becomes unplayable and i lag out all the time. i really appreciate this guide, truly.
Thanks so much for this video. I don’t why but these settings helped me to play a lot better
My game does not have 'Show Mature Content' - I believe that I should probably have this setting available to me, any idea why it isn't there for me?
i dont have it either :/
Very useful video thx man
for the people that leave chrome on der is an option to turn off hardware acceleration by just going to settings of chrome and search hardware acc and just turn it off

I can't believe how long I had my Windows native refresh rate set to 60hz. BRUH. Highly recommended video for anyone needing video settings for this game, or even just in general. xD
thanks this really helped me out :)
this video helped me so much, i didnt even realize i wasnt using the full potential of my 144hz monitor + i went from having less than 15 kills in DM to getting 40 the game after this video. thanks man. gonna get into some actual games now lol
other than my monitor, this helped a ton! thank you so much!!
Thank you so much I have a lower end machine and this helped me so much.
If you have G-sync enabled on your monitor, you don't have to manually set your monitors refresh rate. It will match the refresh rate of your monitor with your GPU, even if you have it set to a lower refresh rate
Thx for the vid i hope it helps me with my fps
Helped alot tysm
i dont know what all these computer setting things are but ill def follow this tutorial for high fps
Thanx bro it worked very well

If you can, high graphical settings can be useful in finding things to line up with for certain agent utility or wallbang spots.

thanks ! really helpful tips ! my fps before watching this only 80-100,and now 180-200++,thank you so much !
Thanks bro verry helpful
If you cap your game at you refresh rate, you don’t get the input lag of V-sync but lose some frames, however this doesn’t make a huge difference as you wouldn’t see those frames anyway, and you no longer have screen tearing. (Only use this tip for 144hz+)
THANK YOU SO MUCH MY COUSIN MESSED UP MY SETTINGS AND I DIDNT KNOW WHAT TO DO THIS HELPED A LOT
