Hey Kev, I think rather than being travel reducers, those Fox branded connectable pieces are air volume reducers. They make the fork more progressive, so if you're running the sag you want but you keep bottoming out, you can open up the forks and chuck 'em in.
hi kev, so this started as just a frame? You make no mention at how much it cost. It sounds impressive , but nice to way that against cost , and hard to do that when there is no cost to compare.
1:36 The bike symbol is _walk assist._ If it's anything like my TSDZ2 mid drive, you press and hold down the _down-button_ and the motor will move the bike to help you walk it. You can even see a foot symbol on the _down-button._
was about to mention my (now fried, RIP) TSDZ2's walk mode! See I was beaten to it. it moves at about 2 mph. Now have to hunt down a replacement to fit to the new Ozark Ridge replacing my old Comp.
@@DFX2KX Awesome! Hope you find another one. It's a lot of fun. I built up the Mongoose Ledge X1 into an emtb. I think the only things stock on mine still are the handlebars and the seat.
@icypirate11 The biggest issue is the battery. It was the BMS going up that ate my motor. But yeah, I would definitely like to kit out the new ride with a better pack and the open-source firmware for the TSDZ
Kev, you seemed to mention that you were planning to upgrade the drivetrain. If you haven't already ordered the parts I would love to see shimano cues 9 speed go on this bike.
Awesome bike, I'm a little jealous tbh. My Alivio never gave me problems btw. So if you still have chain-drops after replacing it I suggest you have a closer look at the front chaining. I couldn't be sure from the vid, but it looks like that could be a stamped one..?
I have a brand new (medium frame) Ozark Trail Ridge 29er as I beat the hell out of my Aluminum Comp. I've been keeping the miles really low while I save up for a new TSDZ2 to bolt onto it (the motor didn't make it either, blew the battery's BMS and my controller). EMTBs are great.
@@KevCentral The Battery pack was a Viaset 10AH pack from Amazon. it was cheap and I knew it, sadly it took the controller with it (the cells themselves still have voltage, though I'm not sure I'd trust it even after a new BMS). The Tongshen TSDZ2 is 250/500/(and when you can find one)750 watt motor with torque sensing pedals. It's a decent mid drive for the price of a hub motor. only downside is it's tendancy to overheat in it's 500/750 watt form, expecially if you disable the speed limiter. I'd go for the Befangs, but those things go for a pretty penny.
gotta go all out with the tan now lol. Get a tan seat, purhaps Charge Spoon or go expensive like I did and get a Brooks leather saddle. Get some tan grips (I'm currently running PNW Loam XL tan grips which have just the right amount of thickness and padding) and those tan pedals i talked about in your last vid and it will look awesome. I wish there was some way i could send you a pic of my bike with all of it's tan and copper accents.
@@KevCentral that's awesome. I'm actually in the same boat. After I applied some leather conditioner to the Brooks saddle it really darkened the leather so it's now a darker tan/brown then all my other tan parts lol.
Thanks Kev, I've been waiting years for you to do a project E-bike, I can't wait to see more progress and the final form! I see you have an HP ink link in your description, I might ask you reconsider working with them as printer ink subscription model is predatory. If you search HP subscription ink videos on youtube, I'm sure someone can give you the rundown if you were not already aware. Well anyways, love your videos, keep them coming and best of luck to you.
Thanks. I’m actually quite happy with HP Instant Ink. Most of the people that complain are people that signup, then cancel and then complain because they can’t keep using the cartridges they basically got for free.
In certain situations. A riding buddy that has a Trek Rail with an 85nM motor was impressed with the climbing ability of the 95nM, but 85nM does quite well too, and so should your 80nM - that’s a lot of power. I looked at a bike a few days ago that has 160nM…I expect it can climb a vertical wall 😂
@@KevCentral Understandle, also nice choice of Scwalbe Nobby Nics Snake they are almost exactly the same as on my bike snake skin believe they are super ground, and they are expensive set of tires.
I so wanna get unsick & healthy & go on a 1 or 2 year long ebike packing hobo site seeing adventure.....With rear rack triple bag bike storage & single wheel suspension trailer with a 100w solar panel lid. For a range extender. With a 350w or 500w ebike & longer range battery, bring lightweight foldup solar panels & lots of creature comforts.
Its the Tektro brake pads that make the noise. I had Tektro brakes and changed to Shimano pads and it stopped. The Shimano B05S pads fit.
3 questions. What brand is it? How much does it cost? And where can we buy it if we want one?
Im getting a bafang motor soon to act as a diy conversation. Good way to not lose a good bike

Very slick looking rig. Looking forward to seeing more of it in the future.

thanks Kev, that's a good looking bike, hours of fun I bet, great stuff
Bomber Z2 is such an incredible fork. Works every bit as good as my more expensive Grip2 forks, just slightly porkier.
Hello, where did you get the frame, motor and battery?
Very nice. Looking forward to the build.

@KevCentral The paint job looks strikingly similar to a Kent Trouvaille, not a coincidence?
"Project-E"... Brilliant!!
Wish I could afford a E-bike
Nice kinda looks like my hiland Sabo 2
As always another great video Sir
what is the name of this bike? interested in getting one!
Awesome looking bike!!
I believe the bike icon on the display means you can pedal it like a regular bike
Looks beauty!

I’m not familiar with the TSDZ2 aside from seeing pictures and other mentions. Did you source the battery from the same supplier?

Where did you buy the frame?
Awesome review and bike! Bike pic - walk mode. Interested in bike . Who makes it and is it available? Kinda reminds me of a Ramblas by Aventon? 🤔
That's a good looking bike,Kev! How's the steering now that it's even slacker and a 140 and not a 130?
It started out as 100. I upgraded to 120, now 140. It’s surprisingly agile still - which was a shock to me
Sweet! I want one !
Hey Kev I saw wolfticks video on the Econic One Adventure e-bike curious on your thoughts, seems feature packed for $1300
❤ It looks nice
I like it
Rookie tinkerer question: will any fork work with any wheel, or are there QR specific forks for my quick release hubs?

Looks similar to my Transend E except mine has a no suspension .
Is Bafang the bike brand?
Motor
Does that frame fit 27.5 plus?
So my EBike puts out 80Nm. Is 95 a big difference?

Can you share where to buy?
Keep it 9 speed, consider going Box components prime 9.
Thanks. I’m not a fan of box. I have the prime 9 on one of my bikes. It’s among my least favorite upgrade group sets

Can you provide torque in foot pounds? NM makes no sense. Also, power, which is what really matters.
All electric motors I’ve ever seen were rated in Nm. Using an online calculator that’s roughly 70ft lbs
@@KevCentral All the ones made in somewhere other than America, which uses the right spec. But thanks.
it's probably walk the bike mode
Hey Kev, more expensive that typical bikes you review but have you seen the “Intense 951 xc” at Costco?
Odi dread lock grips are the best hard tail grips . I would put an angle headset .
Jenson has that fork for 199
I’ve been looking at those grips, but the 143mm length I don’t like. Why an angled headset?
