The recovery of Argentina will take at least a decade. I hope the people have the stamina to follow through on this journey as it will then become a great example to the rest of the world. BTW, there are still considerable hurdles still to come like the crime and corruption as just one example.
No it won't. It is already recovering, and fast. Poverty already went down to 38% - it was 46% when he took office. In the third trimester of 2024, GDP grew 3,9% - so, it probably has grown in the Q4 too, it's just that the data hasn't come yet. For 2025, it will grow AT LEAST 5%. In 10 years, Argentina will be a rich country, just mark my words on that.

Just for some perspective I was talking to an Argentina friend and he wasn’t happy at all about Milei. After checking some recent poling his approval rating is at about 50 / 50. This obviously changes depending to region. What’s really interesting is that on many factors healthcare, education, production etc. they’re all saying he’s doing worse. That might be expected in his plan and I hope these changes help to turn Argentina around. Either way best of luck to Argentina.
Your friend must be a peronist😂. Milei is over 57% approval with the biggest public spending cut in history. As he is showing his program actually works his approval increases every month. Inflation is dissapearing and poverty went down by 15% in only 9 months
To be honest with you there are many situations, In general we go in right path, but the situation is heterogeneous, for someone is good in the other side many business must to adapt it to this nee situation and that takes time.
I found that Argentinian people did not work very much and did not put any money into the banks Lets hope Milei can continue for a few more years till it really turn around. The people will have to be strong and bear the pain for a while
Milei is a rising star, may his efforts and policies pave the way for a worldwide change. The erradication of corruption, greed and a better life for all.
I would like to clarify one thing regarding the Argentine political landscape because this video left the impression that in Argentina there are only two ways of thinking: Milei or Peronism. This is not the case. There are other republican parties besides La Libertad Avanza (Milei's party) such as UCR and PRO that are the loyal opposition and allies of Milei. Between them they have 20% of the votes in Argentina.
Excellent podcast. Let’s be very clear, Javier Milei is a Libertarian. I really wish people would stop comparing him to the extremist right in the United States and England which hides behind christian nationalism. Libertarians believe in true freedom, economic and personal, a far cry from what Christian nationalists want to do in the United States. Again, Milei is a classic economist something we have never seen before, not even in the United States. Let us also be very clear that the “West” is drunk on Keynesian economics. As a Libertarian I am hopeful for my parents homeland of Argentina.
Extremeist right ? Please give me an example. I’m A lack Puerto Rican from the inner city of Chicago and a Christian. I’ve been a conservative since the 80s please tell me how extreme I am.
thank god ... always happy and everywhere ... how can someone be happy knowing someone is unhappy ... how can a father sleep tight knowing some children somewhere is hungry?
The way the people in Argentina are paying for the adjustment, and the lack of popular revolt, is proof how how deteriorated is people’s confidence in government.
LOL - I was just thinking of the musical "Evita" and how it is Broadway's and Hollywood's love letter to fascism. (For those unfamiliar with it the 1996 film version starred the actress and singer Madonna in the starring role.)
Great interview. I would add that the example for the rest of the countries is to embrace the ideas of freedom and get to the bottom of the matter, as we say, to the bone. The reforms must be shock reforms. That is the key. And of course, having a plan prepared, studied and doing simulations before taking over the government.

British Labour Govt. and Tory's will totally ignore Milei's success; he proves how incompetent they have been.
Corporations in argentina as he uses are not the corporations in the financial english use of it. I do not know what he means, but it Must the unions. Please clarify
Alberto Benegas Lynch said Javier Milei has already won because he changed the theme of the debate so they considered him winner before he won elections and that's what happened. Therefore, Milei became the first liberatarian-liberal president after Argentina got governed by the Kirchner clan for almost 20 years, on ther other hand I'm not a fan of Axel, but I read one of his books, which resulted to be quite interesting.
When it comes to implementing a libertarian or anarcho-capitalist agenda, the dire situation and the recurring crises in Argentina might be used as an excuse to accept Milei’s measures. However, the true point lies in how Milei presents and articulates ‘the truth.’ I call it the truth because, everywhere we look, we see signs of crises-across various sectors and with different labels-and we also see the usual political practice of populism and demagoguery, with a clear lack of real engagement with people’s problems. Javier Milei, like any good libertarian we aspire to be, identifies the issue and goes straight for the solution, blending refined technique with a heightened sense of humanism. Without the fundamental element of survival-namely economic stability-and the guiding principle of freedom and respect for the individual, we cannot pave a path to prosperity, reduce poverty, or instil trust, hope, and happiness among the population.
"For instance, and I believe someone named Kant once put it this way: if someone considers lying, they should ask themselves, ‘What if everyone lied? The very notion of truth would vanish, and communication would become impossible.’ In that case, lying would be morally wrong, as it cannot be universalized.”
When people talk about ‘austerity,’ I believe that term is not the right one from a libertarian perspective. It was used here in Portugal by social-democratic agendas and the IMF, and while it may have helped, in my view it’s not genuinely about austerity. What’s really happening is a correction of pointless government overspending on ineffective objectives. The genuine option is to reduce tax collection while also ceasing to use that revenue for what I’d call clientelism, electioneering, and populism. As for investment, it should be carried out by individuals, businesspeople, and entrepreneurs, without any ‘help’ from the state. The best help the state can give is to simply vanish from the picture. I don’t think there’s anything ‘austere’ about a libertarian approach-nothing rigid, nothing regulated to the nth degree-just a rigorous defence of basic rights: the freedom to live, and the right to private property. ¡Viva la Libertad, Carajo! (Greetings from Lisbon, and following closely.)
The best portion of the video is when the SECOND GUEST offers arguments to counter or contradict the mouthpiece representing Milei ‘s political party spewing the Neoliberal propaganda!!!
The income from oil and gas will save Milei - he secured foreign MAGA billionaire investors to increase the production. In isolation Milei’s economic theory is a madman’s cure
I do agree on the issues with Peronism, but there are some appalling simplifications made by Axel. As with other countries in South America (including my tiny country of Uruguay) the wealth in the 18th century was concentrated to a handful of land owning and producing families. These families did not reinvest into the country to the degree where the populous could benefit from it, on the contrary, they mostly bought more assets. The colonial structures created in these countries where created to concentrate wealth and power, and these families did just that. Equal to Uruguay, Argentinas economy grew during both world wars. This because of the agricultural (including the beef industry) export to Europe. But again, this wealth was concentrated among a small group of land owning families. These families where the Argentinian oligarchs. During this "rich" period these oligarchs did not very much think of a future where Europe would recover. Instead they lined their pockets while they could and once the "gold rush" was over, very little of that wealth was ever spent on modernization to keep up with the evolving technology in Europe, and so began a slow decline. Today some of the same families own a lot of land, but the big land owners are Benetton Group (Italian), High Luck Group (Chinese), Corporacion America (Argentinian business man). As you can see the country was for sale during Carlos Menem's neoliberal, menemism reign and the years after. I have no answers or stake in the country, but I do feel it is important to no swallow simple answers to easily. Don't take my words blindly either, look up the history. I do not know how all of this will end, but I am pretty confident that once again, it will not benefit the general population as a whole.
Deregulation is not the solution Governments are responsible for legislation and regulation. What is critical downsizing bloated governments and balancing budgets
Very, very, very, very, very, very, (15 more "very") premature to call this an "economic miracle" or that Milei has succeeded in any way whatsoever. Argentina is still the same "catastrophe" it was before, except that base effects are going to make things appear to be much better today than vs a year ago. That will nullify itself out real soon. In absolute terms, it is still a total disaster in Argentina right now. Of course this guy who in fact is being paid by Milei is going to paint a rosy picture despite the reality being horrendously bad right now. This is literally his job.
Argentina's GDP in nominal terms is 600 billion, but that's depressed since its so hobbled. With Milei enabling Argentina to grow at, lets say 7% average for his 8 years in office Argentina's GDP will almost double to 1.2 trillion, nearing Spain's 1.7t. But Argentina is a massive country with insane natural resources, so it can easily grow at 7% for another 10 years to reach 2.4 trillion by 2045 (in 2024 dollars) at that time it'll be a major economy. And 7% growth is conservative seeing the deluge of investments for minerals and gas and industry its coming their way. It will also suck up ALL South America's potential migrants into itself. In the 1900's Argentina was a top 10 economy by GDP, i think it'll easily be one again, it has too many natural resources and nearly 50 million people and an industrial base.
This described situation somehow reminds me to Russia. 😅 not the solution but the problems before that. And for sure Russia will never find its own Milei 😊
He looks like he was put in place by a foreign intelligence agency. Interestingly, he shipped Argentina's gold reserves off to the UK, even after knowing what happened to Venezuela.
For starters getting the gold taken is something that is extremely unlikely to happen and you need to be literally a dictator in order for it to happen , also the gold was shipped to a bank in the UK , way different than shipping it to the UK , because guess what ? , Once the gold is in said bank getting it out is extremely hard and the UK has ZERO right to tell the bank what they can do with the gold
How a comparison of Argentina and Maga/Musk arises is beyond me. Argentina suffering from sustained corruption….by who the rich citizens, and USA and more bought up by the super rich for self interest. Hold your breath, if USA comes out of Trump presidency with reduction is debt, stable middle class, I’ll withdraw my input to economic discussion.
I have only some glimpses of Milei, but when I see someone say what he said about China, and a few months later changed his narrative about the relationship with this country, for me he did not show maturity initially. It seems he is growing now. But the first impressions count and I am not impressed
Tf are you talking about? He never changed his narrative about anything. The previous governments were bootlickers of the Chinese, kept giving them large chunks of our territory and even allowed them to set up military bases. Milei is just not getting in the way of commerce, cause he is a libertarian, remember? Yeah, I can tell your "research" was VERY limited, which makes your opinion quite irrelevant
He is playing a character like Trump. Or played like a character. Once Harris gets into office and the clown show stops this will start to pick up quickly. Milei has von Mannheim's approval. I am looking forward to doing business with the Argentinians. Pochettino is my main choice for Finnish National Team manager.
Where is the immaturity in his narrative with China ? He acknowledged the negatives of countries doing business with China under the so called One Belt One Road and make it plain he doesn't want anything to do with it. But he also said would do business with China in equal terms. Where is the immaturity ?

Precisely, to label it a miracle is to remove agency and the credit from where it is due.

The millistas will never agree with you, patience, understanding, empathy and stability are not a sign of their leader. They choose to grossly underestimate the shortcomings of the culture, the depth of society, the broken morality and the violence that reigns in Buenos Aires. You cannot have an economy when everyone works for the government
Tell that to Canada, they need to know
You have a Cuban economy
Which is exactly what Starmer wants for the UK. Thatcher said socialism is fine until you run out of other people's money. How can an economy grow when almost everyone works for the government? Student politics are destroying the UK.

I found that Argentinian people did not work very much and did not put any money into the banks
Lets hope Milei can continue for a few more years till it really turn around.
The people will have to be strong and bear the pain for a while
Milei is a rising star, may his efforts and policies pave the way for a worldwide change. The erradication of corruption, greed and a better life for all.
Very exciting indeed! great video
Thank God for Milei. I am very optimistic about Argentina's future.
Milei #1
I would like to clarify one thing regarding the Argentine political landscape because this video left the impression that in Argentina there are only two ways of thinking: Milei or Peronism.
This is not the case.
There are other republican parties besides La Libertad Avanza (Milei's party) such as UCR and PRO that are the loyal opposition and allies of Milei. Between them they have 20% of the votes in Argentina.
Waaay less than 20%. Pro is now around 7% and UKR maaaybe 3%?
@pm1660 Congress seats?
A lack Puerto Rican from the inner city of Chicago and a Christian. I’ve been a conservative since the 80s please tell me how extreme I am.
Milei the Miracle!
thank god ... always happy and everywhere ... how can someone be happy knowing someone is unhappy ... how can a father sleep tight knowing some children somewhere is hungry?
Lo que le falta a Milei es el inglés de Alex !

The 2 factors..integrity and competence are very powerful and it seems that Milieu has them in spades.Hope U.K. can find such a leader …ASAP!
Outstanding interview
The way the people in Argentina are paying for the adjustment, and the lack of popular revolt, is proof how how deteriorated is people’s confidence in government.
Exciting times, that's right

I think your 'joke' fell flat because you should have written Maradona, but even then...
LOL - I was just thinking of the musical "Evita" and how it is Broadway's and Hollywood's love letter to fascism.
(For those unfamiliar with it the 1996 film version starred the actress and singer Madonna in the starring role.)
Really good interview
A beacon of hope for the world. Thriving nation states have their limitiation but far far more desirable than one world government.
Great Axel Kaiser , next presdent of Chile!

The application of sound logic is definitionally not miraculous. It is directly attributable to Milei, the credit should be given where it is due.
The day Argentina has a currency people believe in, that ‘s when it will begin some type of recovery , economic and otherwise.

A free enterprise wins
Poverty has already dropped dramatically, it spiked at 55% and now its down to 38%, thats a huge improvement in such a short time

A century of socialism.
What are you talking about. Milei made everything worse. He is only governing for a small elite
Bottom line. When you are at the bottom there's only 1 way up.
You glossed over the increase in poverty, unemployment and negative growth. I see you.
4% growth = 2025.
How to talk for 30 minutes and say nothing substantial

Real rebels can only be from the younger part of the nation's population. The majority of the young didn't have the time to build up riches jet, and they are still in the phase where community counts for more than individual riches, in their lives.
