You are doing a very great job with your content. i have few questions to ask about S7-1214C PLC 1. If an S7-1214 Siemens PLC has several LED indicators that can be used to verify if the processor is operating correctly and the Maintenance LED is flashing yellow and there is no memory card. What does this mean? 2. IF An S7-1214 stopped controlling the machine. The STOP/RUN indicator is yellow and the ERROR LED is red. What’s wrong? 3. A controlLogix 1756 processor has a flashing green I/O LED, ehat does this mean and ehat should you do to troubleshoot?
Hi Adam, Thank you for your insightful questions. While they are excellent queries, they fall outside the scope of our current lesson platform. If you're experiencing issues with your LEDs flashing, there could be a variety of factors at play. Fortunately, assistance is available! Your local Siemens representative can offer valuable support. Siemens provides a comprehensive website and blog equipped with troubleshooting guides and technical manuals to address your needs. Much of their online troubleshooting assistance is complimentary. However, there may be charges for direct technical consultations. For information specific to Siemens PLCs, please visit the following link support.industry.siemens.com/cs/document/109744173/documentation-for-simatic-controller?dti=0&lc=en-WW Here is your 1756 processor manual too: literature.rockwellautomation.com/idc/groups/literature/documents/um/1756-um001_-en-p.pdf

2:47 Standard, compact (C), fail-safe (F) and you could add technology (T) version. Those have more motion ressources. There is also the new redundant (R) and high availability (H) S7-1500, but R and H doesn't exist in the S7-300 platform. You had to go with S7-400H "in the past".
Hello Abdoulaye Fara Diaw, Thank you for your question. The answer to your question is maybe. Depending on how complicated your S7-300 logic is FB, OB, FC and DB blocks are, you might have to rewrite some of the logic and configure your hardware too. I am attaching 2 links from the Siemens industrial support website you should be looking at. So it seems like the only difference is 1ns processing time which is really not needed for 90% of the applications and the built in display. Nothing is said about the differences in programming with TIA portal and Simatic Manager. It's left open, what the price really is for a basic configuration say 64 I/O's and 8 axes for example. In my opinion it is usually the programmers skills and Know-How to determine which PLC and programming environment is selected.
There are a number of other differences, including an expanded instruction set with the S7-1500, built-in OPC-UA support, built-in web-server, better diagnostics, auto-tuning PID, and motion control support, just to name a few. And yes, the increased CPU speed is not really a big benefit unless you are doing high-speed operations, such as packing lines or fillers. As far as programming packages, SIMATIC Manager cannot be used for the S7-1200 or S7-1500. But TIA Portal Professional can be used with any S7 CPU, making the the best choice for programming any Siemens PLC. The S7-1500 has a pretty high price tag for small systems, so for a 64-I/O system, an S7-1200 can be economical (
Thanks for your comment! Great question, that would make for an interesting topic suggestion for a future video course. I will go ahead and pass this on to our course developers. Thanks for sharing!
Hell, I've got a ~$3M machine at work that got handed over 3 months ago that has a 319-2F/PN in it... And every CNC machine with a Siemens Sinumerik control still comes with a 300. 2020 for the NCUs with 1500s was what I heard last year. We'll see, I guess.
The S7-400 is typically used as an AS node in PCS7. We have a new series that is just starting at Realpars.com covering PCS7, which uses a CPU 416-2 DP processor. Come check it out!
In order to be able to select the Simulation button, the program you would like to download needs to be selected. Click on the PLC in the project tree. If the Start Simulation button is not selectable, try recompiling the hardware configuration and then recompile the software configuration. You should be able to start the simulation at this point. If not, make sure the S7-PLCSIM program is installed correctly. The best way to do this is to start the simulation program and see if it will fully boot up to the CPU status window. Also, the S7-300 series of CPU's requires S7-PLCSIM v5.4 or earlier. The latest PLCSIM programs (v12, v14, v15) only work with the S7-1200 and S7-1500 CPU's.
I will never play along with the monopoly of Allen Bradley and Siemens, whoever wants to make these companies richer welcome, I have had projects for more than twenty years working and making upgrades with PLCs from different brands, they do the same!!! More economical!! And even in some cases, better functions such as Rest API, OPC UA, it seems like a robbery to me that just by checking a box on the portal they charge you 1000 dollars just to enable OPC UA, that's it!!

Siemens said : " we will not support S7-300 , s7-400 in the future " . Last time i heard is 5 year ago

Thanks a lot n.n
You're welcome!
A big difference , is how a scada polls data from s 1500.
1500 write data async
300, or 400 writes data at end scan
Why there’s just 31 nodes to connect using Profinet?
thassioam 5 bits only on the address part of the data stream.
Try to migrate s7-300 to s7-1500, where is fb285 for control drives used.
Absolutely hell.
Thank
can i use new version of tia portal to program siemens s7-300 ?
YES! You will need the TIA Portal Professional version. The Basic version can be used for programming S7-1200 CPU's only.
