First time I put a harness on my whippet puppy she rolled onto her back, stuck her legs into the air, and froze in place.

Aw poor Sherpa. He looked dejected☹he was having a proper sulk. It must feel uncomfortable having that squishing his fur. Hopefully a larger one will feel better on him and he accepts wearing it, albeit reluctantly. You might have to keep a supply of his favourite chicken balls nearby😊

Harnesses are introduced at a young age for sled dogs. This dog obviously is more of a spoiled house pet than a working dog. Not saying that’s a bad thing but the husky probably isn’t used to the harness like a sled dog would be.
I’ve seen huskies jump for joy when their handler comes with harness in hand.

We lost our 13 year old husky two months ago. This is the first video I’ve watched since she died. Tala loved watching and listening to him and his bf Key. Tala did the same thing with the harness. Refused to look at me. Same with when I put a shirt on her the first time. God Bless!

Sherpa says if like that uncomfortable humiliating thing left over from dark ages you wear it because I am Laird Sherpa and believe in the rights of Huskamutes and if it’s not suitable for hoomans to wear one then it’s not suitable for Huskamutes either
If you get Sherpie a large, comfortable harness, and just let him wear it for an hour or do every other day, he will get use to it, and won't be so adverse to it when you take him somewhere......He certainly lets you know, of his disapproval, when he wants....LOL
i miss my huskey for how communicative he was as well, love how even though you put the words on screen, being the parent helps a lot more to know what he is saying.

@@louiselill1528 I know, but you know how protective Jodie is of Key? Also, the harness for Sherpa is for when he's in the car. There really does need to be some kind of protection for Sherpa when Jamie is driving around (and they do drive around a lot). I wish they would make a decent harness with a buckle for dogs while they're in a vehicle. There's almost nothing out there for dog owners :(
@@nkfd4688 not being able to drive I have know idea on harnesses for cars but yes there should be something that protects the dog and owner because anything can happen while driving

First time I’ve watched your show. Can’t stop laughing. He is quite fabulous! My favorite part is how he won’t let it go, and persists on telling you off. Love him already and I’m a big life with malamute‘s fan. Think I’ll add Sherpa to the list. Thanks, it was really great laughing.

Very typical husky behaviour xD My youngest is getting her ears flushed on a daily basis at the moment (Ear infection) She wont speak to me till a good 5 - 10min after xD thankfully the rest of the day she's a total cuddlebug :)

I recommend alpine outfitters harnesses. I had a hard time finding one that fit my malamute. Similar issue to what it looks like Sherpa had. Too tight around their big ol barrel chest. They can do custom fitted ones or adjustable ones. They are also really padded.

Agreed. Not a good fit. Too tight and getting into "armpits". Not all pooches like harnesses, but fit can be a major issue.
Yes, there was a lot of trial and error to fitting my Chow mix to a harness. If they're too tight it hurts the backbone and chafes too much in other areas.👍👍

I'm trying to harness train my cat. Lots of treats, and short wearing periods, gradually lengthening them.

Make sure it comes with a easy to understand diagram and instructions.
@@OofusTwillip my friend has harness trained her cat. Cat is pretty used to it now. That being said, she's now safe to have off leash while walking together.

That was one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time! He was the perfect picture of dejection & misery the whole time the harness was on. Not even a reaction to the magic word "treats".
It reminded me of the first time I put a collar on my cat, Riff-Raff, with pretty much the same reaction. He sat, perfectly still, with his head sunk down on his chest. He refused to acknowledge us or move or *anything*!
I'm not sure that getting a bigger harness will do the trick, Sherpa seems opposed to the idea of them, in general. I know it's for his safety so I hope you find a solution.

I had to get my cat a harness. He wasn't allowed out because we lived next to the state highway. So I got this harness and used to walk him in the back yard. He loved to investigate the little bugs and jump at the butterflies among the flowers. I would have to stand around and wait for him. Everyday he used to go to where I had the harness and lease hung up and make me aware he wanted to get it on so we could go out. It was pretty boring for me, but he had fun.
I believe we just saw Sherpa feeling his greatest moment of betrayal EVER!!!

Oh my god, Floof (my cat) reacted the exact same way. I raised him from 3 days old, he was already used to a collar and lead and I could do just about anything with his feet, mouth, ears etc, but when I put a proper harness on him he just sort of froze, same way Sherpa did. He took an odd stance and refused to move. Ear scritches and treats did not help at all. He was so offended! How dare I put such a thing on him! It took several weeks for him to get used to it (or to simply accept his fate). We're 3 years on and he loves it now, because the harness means we're going for a walk
Poor Sherpa, like why have you done this to me? I've been a good boy. It was so funny to see him put himself in the corner, and then you could definitely tell that he was upset when he wouldn't even come for the first time when he was offered a treat. Very cute and sweet video.
