This has made my day. I lived in GY ‘89-‘98. Best years of my life with my beloved late husband and our two children who were born there. My daughter was born in ‘94. I’m sending her this. Looking forward to more. ❤️
Crazy to see. You can tell they made the video specifically to be a time capsule. Mentioning all the things that are set to change. And I wouldn’t mind owning a few of those cars today:
Wow, i love that people captured the town back in the 90's. I was only born in 1990 and theres really not many changed. Weird to see some old shops etc. Cheers for uploading
Terrific set of videos, brings back many memories. Amazing how much still looks the same yet how much has changed. I'd forgotten about Texas Homecare, Solaglas and Kevark and the old Grimsby Motors garage where Tesco now is. Even the little things bring back smiles; the different one-way system in Pasture Street and orange and white GCT buses. Thanks for posting!
it would just be the same as the 94 version but with older cars! Probably exactly the same in 2021 (I left in 87). The only place where a Vauxhall Chevette is the car of choice. Love the place.
as soon as you turned the bike around i knew that was macauly st school, lived in gy all my life , lived down cromwell road for a few years used to go to grandways when we were kids
Very funny with the voice overs and saying what wont be around and what will be a roundabout, like the railway crossing, thats still there and freman st/hainton ave traffic lights still there no roundabout. great vids
@@brizlee I lived at 2 Lancaster Avenue between 1965 and 1971 and went to Macaulay Street Infants,,,,,, my Nana was the lolly pop lady on Boulevard Avenue,,,,, many happy memories
well shit a brick found this video I used to live in Grimsby stop the camera at 1.34 blue Nissan bluebird on the right that's my old car 79 Cromwell road where I used to live
Absolutely unreal! I lived down Lawson Avenue when this was filmed - it started in Lawson Avenue and my car was on there too! The funny thing is, this video just ‘appeared’ also! Never searched for it.
Everybody saying how nothing has really changed - I work on the docks at a big bakery and when they first drive on until they then turn left, literally every building on both sides have gone there is note just nothing there on either side, really sad. 😔 There is also now a gatehouse before you get to the first roundabout where you have to show ID to get on.
three observations from my short time in grimsby; 1. its poor, very poor. people are nice, but good lord its deprived 2. its completely flat. everyone rides bicycles because there are literally no hills for miles. biggest hill i saw there was a grass bank on which some monument is built. other than that, yeah.. flat 3. if you dont like immigration then grimsby is for you. its overwhelmingly white, and yes that is a good thing. taxis and corner shops are both owned by white people. i once went into a corner shop near the mini tesco and asked for change for the phone box - the nice lady offered me the use of her shop's phone - simply wouldnt happen in birmingham where im from.. youd be lucky to get the change
I live in Cleethorpes which isn't too bad but your bang on the money about Grimsby or no money should I say the town never recovered after the fishing industry

I've been out of the Country since 76, came back once in 1980. It was neat to see all the old streets again. Thanks for your time.
Great video lots of memories now i really feel old 🤪 and our family name was mentioned Siddles tool shop 👍
""Crossing won't be there long"" 22 years later it's still there 😂
It’s lit 2021, the towns barely changed
Neither have the cars ! Great name by the way

My god, how little has changed in 17 years

Do you think? I can really see the decline in the video. Everything just looked nicer. It’s all a messy shit hole now, everywhere.

BRILLIANT ..... FANTASTIC foresight. Many Thanks to all.
Thanks for posting, this is how I remember the town too.
I love grimsby! My dad told me about it as I showed him this video, he said he was 6 when it looked like this! It still looks amazing.
idk which grimsby you’re living in but in mine it’s far from “amazing” lol

Thank you. A real trip down memory lane.
This is lovely to see. Love the commentary that wont be there long hahah still there till this day haha
Great video! “This will be a roundabout soon”
Some interesting changes and memories there.
I need to see Grimsby in the mid 70's and early 80's again.
Hell yeah
it would just be the same as the 94 version but with older cars! Probably exactly the same in 2021 (I left in 87). The only place where a Vauxhall Chevette is the car of choice. Love the place.
I literally just went near the area they went

Grimsby was a very paranoid place in 94!
Thanks for your comments Yellowbelly06, As you say, not many major changes, but lots of little ones.
You still kicking around on RUclips Brizlee?
A lot less traffic back then
How things have changed good to see x
1994 is better than now. Best days.
Are we being followed?
Thanks
Shows you how the town has changed. I didn't realize that presto site is where Lidl is now at the market hotel.
The market hotel was where Tesco's is now
Looks better in 94 than it does in 2020 🤣
That's the same for the entire country.
EVERYTHING SO SQUARE
It used be be a large garage repair business, then Grandways then Presto. That building was pulled down and the new Lidl built.
Love to own a few of them cars now
are we being followed? lol
at the end of freemo so weird not seeing travis perkins!
Nice video sad to see note as change for the Better. Definitely had more shops then.
That's starting on Lancaster Avenue isn't it?
I used to live on Lawson Avenue one street over in the late 70s.
Starts in Lawson Avenue, between Lancaster Avenue and Wharton Street, where I grew up.
I was brought up in Carnforth Crescent
@@brizlee I lived at 2 Lancaster Avenue between 1965 and 1971 and went to Macaulay Street Infants,,,,,, my Nana was the lolly pop lady on Boulevard Avenue,,,,, many happy memories
It's Grimsby up North, I see.
You started in Macaulay or Lister Street right?
, Yes, you're right, We started in Lawson Avenue, off Macaulay Street.

Wow. No major development in Grimsby in 24 years. It will be still the same in another 24 years. Lol.
Yeah, totally agree.
Not long after the old underground subway was gone, and Ellis Way was built.
When your volume was on max
Still no roundabout at Freeman St /Hainton Ave !
I was born in fuller st. 1971
I lived in Neville st round about then
Hands up if you want one of those British Gas vans at 0:14
Well its 2021 and the crossing is still there but pasture street is one way the other way lol
17th aniversary 2day of this vid.
Nearly 27 years
4:22 still there
Well, there are worse places, but there are also a lot better. I now live in Cornwall, so you can guess what my opinion of the town is.
This town has never changed and i doubt it will , the society is dead
ace
The only thing that's changed is the cars lol
No German cars, all fords and vauxhauls, how times have changed
A lots changed now we'll not aesthetically but you know 🙄
not much has changed lol
