I have replaced a keyboard on a laptop before but OMG, I cannot believe how much of a PITA it looks like it is to replace the keyboard on this laptop. 😳😳 Successfully convinced me to not bother trying this keyboard replacement.
This is such a nightmare design. You literally have to gut the entire laptop, change thermal paste etc. I've done some repairs myself but I'll 100% skip this one. It's way too much effort for something as trivial as keyboard replacement.
thanks a lot, I managed to replace the keyboard by myself thanks to your video! I didnt have such an electric pry tool like him so I used ... pocket knife. It worked! have my own short video about it.
There’s an Acer engineer out there that is truly deserving of the beatdown of a lifetime for putting this together like this, unreal. No thought to servicing and using melted plastic instead of bolts. An hour into it found that the keyboard I picked up had a different ribbon cable, thinner, apparently there are up to 7 different versions of keyboards for this laptop😢
It looked crazy difficult but I've made it! First time took me about 2 hours of incredible gentle and precision but now I'm able to do it within 10 minutes :D Unfortunately I had to tear out that silver part over keyboard and now my keyboard doesn't fit as good as original. 5-10 buttons are slightly deeper than rest but I think I will be able to fix that.
My keyboard has a different ribbon cable, more narrow... Otherwise this video was the best for replacing the keyboard. I had to return the first one i ordered and get one that did not actually have my model number listed as compatible. I had no way to know until i got it apart.
oh hell no 😢i cant do all of this. i spilled some coke on the left side of my keyboard and now those keys are stuck in place. i might try if i could carefully pop them from the top and clean enough for them to work...
the same happened to me bro, my keys are all sticky and my technician just suggested me to live like this until something happens and im forced to change my keyboard
I spilled some beer on space and other lower buttons, but not that much. After a while using and gaming on it it just got right and nothing sticks. Idk if that will work, when you've spilled coke, cuz it's much more sugar in it..
