My grandma had a 2000 S500 and the Bose system was AMAZING. It beats my family's 2014 Escalade Bose, and pretty much everything else I've heard stock. Deep bass, no distortion, super high volumes, and amazing imaging. It really kicked ass for being 16 years old. Good luck with the car.
Freddy you gotta get the updated 2003 to 2006 bi xenon headlights and updated grille to transform the entire front end and also while you are at it the 2003 to 06 led tail lights
I still use my sat Nav in my 2004 s class you can buy the update disc from eBay really cheap. I just don't like things hanging around on the window and wires too ... Love the video can't wait to see more of the s class 👍
Your videos are some of the best DIY's on youtube. I am a W210 driver, and I really won some insights on your retrofit. You should probably add things like "W220", "Comand" "Mopf" and stuff like that in the description for people to find it better. I would be also interested in a video on how you solder in the auxiliary jack. Greetings from Germany, fellow Benz-Connaisseur!
T, put a pool noodle (long pool float that feels like rubberized foam) between the Merc and the Aston. You can suspend it from the ceiling with fishing line. That will save you from any door dings.
Man its a small world.. Sitting here enjoying you nice W220 videos and I guess Im the guy from Sweden with the speed module you mention.. Let me know if I can do ANYTHING to help out with your W220.
I saw a guys car that had his trim hydro-dipped. He did a matte finish wood. It looked awesome cause it had a lot of wood grain detail. It looked legit.
DUDE you can wire 3.5 jack from the TV module on the back ( left side of trunk) wire it in the the back seats to the front use the TV button and you will have the best quality sound that is the way i did i can send you pictures if you want...
Great Vid!! I wish I had seen this prior to 2 weeks ago. I have the same car, I bought a Jensen receiver, steering wheel adapter, and rear view camera; I spent over $500 for installation and parts.....I still need to purchase a 5 channel amp because of lost sound!
Love how you kept the stock look. Dont know about cost, but replacing the wood grain with brushed aluminum or metal would look pretty nice in my opinion.
You are totally correct, after putting the AMG 19 inch Staggered made the car alot sporty. Also very grand and classy at the same time. The factory 17 inch makes it look like a Grandpa Car.
Watching this video makes me want to add bluetooth/aux port in my 07 Mazdaspeed6. Using only the radio and CDs is getting old. Thanks man! Love your videos! I wish you still had your 3000gt lol. Keep up the good work!
darren monteith really there's no aux in a 07 speed 6? that sucks. nice car anyways. if you're into diy there's a good selection of guides and what not. forum.mazda6club.com/mazdaspeed6/225354-how-3-5mm-stereo-bose-system.html#/topics/225354?_k=eh8tm5
One thing that you should probably consider is that MB uses the GPS to determine the correct time and date. I don't know for sure if you can set the time and date manually, but it's something that might be annoying. Someone I know has a 2000 MB S500 aswell (fantastic car by the way) so that's how I know this. Great video by the way.
That dashboard looks so much better now. But please, do something with those headlights! I think you should get a pair of the clear ones, the ones from the newer models. Anyway, love this videos Freddy!
Hi Tavaris, I see this is over 4 years old but still useful. The link to the pinout diagram seems to be broken or lost. Can you provide the updated link to the wiring diagram/pinout so I can follow in your footsteps with the upgrade of my 2001 D2B Comand unit to a 2003 Comand 2.0 unit, please. thanks
I did the same on my daily driver, a 2001 S320 CDI W220. I bought most of the things in a junkyard. The comand plus the wood trims cost me 100€, and I bought via ebay the bluetooth adapter
kushtrim uka ca bone vlla edhe un shqipe nga durrsi sh krenar per ket cd e danit mbohet qefi qe edhe ti shef dhe pelqen videot e makinave my insta @albaniancars_makinatshqiptare
You should connect the tv input, it's more than likely RCA, so with a hdmi to rca adapter you could pipe your phone in pretty easily. Chromecast or screencast would even be doable.
I'm so stoked you are doing these videos on your 2000 MB S500. I also owned 2003 S500 Designo, only drawback is that Airmatic Suspension System. Other than it's a great car. A friend of mine also own 2001 S500 AMG Sport with almost 200k miles, the car runs great. You should probably redo the wood trim Piano Black like the Range Rover Supercharged. Bring a different look to your car. Then add some classic AMG rims to the car. That would make it pop. Keep up the good work. I love your videos. Looking forward to seeing more videos.
Hey Tavarish, I’m attempting the same swap, but in your video it doesn’t show what to do with the teal blue plug. It’s powering up but not getting any sound...
please complete this project. I have same year vehicle and the dated dash/radio is the only thing that sucks in the car. Also, since you now have three difference woods in the dash, you said you had an idea to fix that. Looking forward to hearing your idea for this ultimate everyday driver!!!
Tabares I know this video is 4yrs old . But the w220 chassis s430 year 2000 radio upgrade NEEDS a fiber optic decoder box are you familiar with that at all .and does it truly just plug n play with the exception of a ground wire
Cool video, can you do a quick video on how you opened up the old style radio and solder on to the cassette jack. I have several older style vehicles that has only a cassette player and not all cassette adapters work. Also if you can show the blank cassette mod that tricks the cassette player. Thanks in advance.
Hey tavarish could you please help me out? I am wondering if i do not want to use the bluetooth function, can I just wire in a direct aux to the c2 connector and not use the ground loop isolator? I heard that you lose some audio quality with that isolator and I would rather not use it, but I also dont want a ton of hissing. I figured if I dont use the bluetooth adapter I shouldnt get a ton of buzzing noise. So the question is if I just wire it direct with aux will i get a ton of buzzing?
Maybe, but a lot of times it's tough to justify spending a lot of money up front. He's making the car his own and spending a little bit out at a time while still using the vehicle.
Did you ever notice if the aftermarket sound system draws power when the car is turned off? I think the system I installed in my SL65 is drawing current and preventing the car from going into sleep mode.
Very informative. Ive just bought another w220 & have ideas for upgrades. Great reliable comfortable cars are so little money. Your an ideal presenter. Subscribed now 👍
Need some advice, i repeat everything like u did but still have a problem: 1st doesn't work illumination on buttons 2nd comand 2 doesn't turn on and off auto when u plug a key and start engine and 3ed doesn't work function that change time and date i think i need to change some connectors in block A
Nice. I wonder if you can flash the system to modify the OS for some added functionality? Could at least add some wallpapers to make it look a bit less bland even if you don't plan to use the GPS.
Hey man! Very nice video indeed! Do you have photos or video about where I have to solder that cable with 3.5 jack, comming out of the unit? I would like to violate my guarantee as well! :)
Hi. I want to have a auxiliary input on my 2001 Mercedes S class with the old audio system like the one that you replace in this video. can you tell me please how to? maybe you have a video of what you done on the old one...
Hey. You can easily remove that protective scratched stuff from the screen. Anything with Ammonia like windex will do it. Just takes some time. And of course, this is the same reason not to use anything with Ammonia for normal use around the car!
dude, did you consider getting one of thoose little FM transmitters that you can connect on to via bluetooth (i mean since the screen of aux input is the problem), i find them working great and they are pritty low cost
My 2004 9-3 has a similar MOST based system, it's such a pain if I ever wanted to go aftermarket. So I just retrofitted the colour screen and TEL 2 system, and because MOST is setup in a loop if there is anything not connected right the whole thing won't work. Never bothered retrofitting NAV because like the Merc its out of date plus there is no maps for Australia.
Hi I have a 2001 Mercedes s500 in the uk Whats the best way to add an AUX or Bluetooth to the car while keeping the cd changer working. PS. I am not bothered about the outdated command or being able to play tapes !
I have a 2002 mercedes s430 and I'm looking forward to replace the old unit and upgrade it to something like this but can you get the GPS working with the old Antena ? or you have to get a new antena
Cool radio upgrade. Did you get everything from E-Bay? Also is there a website that talks more about legacy radio conversions. Last, believe it or not, I want to upgrade my multi CD changer to one that plays mp3 cds. I want to avoid wire splicing and you the current cables.
Nice improvement! I would get the Navi working though - especially if you're going to call it the Ultimate Daily Driver....Ultimate anything should never have an "except" somewhere in describing the functionality. Is the factory Navigation antenna from the original HU not compatible with the new one? Why not carry that over? Same question for the speed sensor. I did a similar upgrade on my B7A4 (Upgraded from Non-Navigation to the Factory RNS-E Unit)...always nice when you turn it on for the first time and it works!
I daily a 2001 SL with that same Bose system and all of my friends always freak over the quality - those Merc Bose systems were the sh*t.
Know what I like more than Aston Martins? Knowledge.
Danny Zabolotny Tav needs a set of bookshelves in that garage. For the knawwledge.
i sense.....
jealousy????
omar aman You didn't sense the joke tho
Freddy you gotta get the updated 2003 to 2006 bi xenon headlights and updated grille to transform the entire front end and also while you are at it the 2003 to 06 led tail lights
The car already has the tails, and I will be installing the new headlights.
cool AMG bumpers will also transform the cars look no AMG badges lol
APiDA Online There are some really nice aftermarket headlights on ebay. I like those that look like the w221 but they are like 500 bucks
Ирена Керанова nothing beats the original headlights those aftermarket ones look very cheap from a mile away
I still use my sat Nav in my 2004 s class you can buy the update disc from eBay really cheap. I just don't like things hanging around on the window and wires too ... Love the video can't wait to see more of the s class 👍

The wood doesn't match. That really, REALLY bothers me lol
Same
Love the vids on the Aston Martin, but the S class intrigues me even more. I love the series. Keep em coming
There is so much value in knowledge and u have proven that. Its not what you have makes you who u are but rather who you are that gives it value
T, put a pool noodle (long pool float that feels like rubberized foam) between the Merc and the Aston. You can suspend it from the ceiling with fishing line. That will save you from any door dings.
That is an Albanian artist I am crying from laughter!!!!!!!
Gkiekas crazy right?? Hahaha

@@josesantiago5325 Send me an mail.
If you do the AMG body kit, plz don't use the AMG badges!
uncreativename why not? It would be the same as the amg sport pkg bc he has the exhaust and the body kit, he has the right to badge.
Medo Gabr the only hing that matters is engine.
What do you mean why not. Are you dumb. It's not a AMG S class.
Mercedes has watered down the AMG brand with bullshit like AMG packages
Nice install, hope to see more of the ultimate daily driver.
Excellent and humorous presentation. Thank
hahahaha that cd had Albanian songs (I'm Albanian) :D
I was afraid you were going to install those horrible aftermarket radios. it's good you went with MB parts.
you should do a nice silver or brushed aluminum for the wood grain areas. I think that would look really cool.
Not in an S Class bro
LodgedAbyss dare to be different
shamwow47PSN I have an 03 sl55. Came with a cheap carbon fiber vinyl sticker over the wood. Just yesterday I was thinking about doing that
shamwow47PSN brushed aluminium 🤫. Nice idea. I have the light colour wood & don’t like it. So that’s a great modern upgrade. Thanks 👍
K sure. sent it to my email. asktavarish@gmail.com.

Could I ask for it too?
K that's so cool can use post it to ur channel the pics
Hi KA PLEASE Can i have it too?
Holy crap, never thought about tape to bluetooth solution. Dude, you're clever! Subscription earned
Great Vid!! I wish I had seen this prior to 2 weeks ago. I have the same car, I bought a Jensen receiver, steering wheel adapter, and rear view camera; I spent over $500 for installation and parts.....I still need to purchase a 5 channel amp because of lost sound!
Dexter
How and where did you get it done at
Love how you kept the stock look. Dont know about cost, but replacing the wood grain with brushed aluminum or metal would look pretty nice in my opinion.
Holy mismatched wood batman.....
All this work, and still not as good as one of the newer aftermarket systems, which when installed properly, can look and behave very OEM.
I appreciate that you can do the work yourself...how many of us cannot? Looks great and cant wait to see what else you have in store!
more benz videos please!!!!!!!!
PLEASE
Dude that thing NEEDS some AMG wheels...
I second this! AMG wheels are classy and fitting. Nothing is more gaudy than an old luxury car with huge/blingy/non-matching aftermarket wheels.
You are totally correct, after putting the AMG 19 inch Staggered made the car alot sporty. Also very grand and classy at the same time. The factory 17 inch makes it look like a Grandpa Car.

darren monteith Just get a highly rated FM transmitter off Amazon
Use AuxMod, i'm pretty sure your radio should have a connection for it. It can then be connected to bluetooth or what you want.
I enjoyed this video. Keep up the Good work. I love seeing you update older cars and I hope you continue doing it.

You can use shelf liners to do the wood trim, so many options of wood styles, brushed aluminum, carbon fiber, or even zebra style if you want.

You should paint the trims silver/grey/brushed aluminium. It will make the interior look modern and sporty.

Felipe Leal did he show how to do what ur asking ?
Chulla Quiteno nope. I guess it's time to upgrade to an aftermarket radio.
Will the auxiliary connection you mention support a back up camera on the unit you installed?
Wish you would post a parts list with part numbers and contact info for suppliers. For example, how to buy blue tooth parts?
Hey tavarish could you please help me out? I am wondering if i do not want to use the bluetooth function, can I just wire in a direct aux to the c2 connector and not use the ground loop isolator? I can watch W220 videos all day
That Dani CD was Albanian.
Also I have a bluetooth cassette in my car. It fits flush into the tape deck and has no wires
Would you recommend any digital lcd’s for a 90’s model?
Nice looks so much better than before
It was cheap to buy this car, yet with all the work and parts to improve it, would it have been better idea to have purchased a much newer S-class?
Maybe, but a lot of times it's tough to justify spending a lot of money up front. He's making the car his own and spending a little bit out at a time while still using the vehicle.
Monk MonkMonk yea i would love a 2004 fully loaded one
Monk MonkMonk no the weeks a great car if taken here of proper!!
Xhuliano Murati 2006 is best model year for these cars. I would love an s430 or s500 4matic for Winter driving
XGGaMeRGX there is no 2006 w220 . the latest model is from 2005.
The nav can be update, my 2007 w211 have the same system. You can download the new maps Wright them on a cd an you are ready.
Did you ever notice if the aftermarket sound system draws power when the car is turned off? I think the system I installed in my SL65 is drawing current and preventing the car from going into sleep mode.
I love the original radio in these s classes
what type of screw driver do you use to remove the screws on the initial uninstall of the og radio?

Do you have photos or video about where I have to solder that cable with 3.5 jack, comming out of the unit? I would like to violate my guarantee as well! :)
Hi.
I want to have a auxiliary input on my 2001 Mercedes S class with the old audio system like the one that you replace in this video.
can you tell me please how to?

Dont forget the gearshift if you are gonna change all the "wood" details👍
You should do the wood grain in a matt or satin finish.
Best video Ive ever seen. Very Detailed
thank you for great video i hope to do that very well but also have only audio 3000 and bose amp and cd changer it's same this or different
dude, did you consider getting one of thoose little FM transmitters that you can connect on to via bluetooth (i mean since the screen of aux input is the problem), i find them working great and they are pritty low cost

Nice job well done. Shame about the wood but like you said, that can be sorted. Are you going to get it dipped?
Thanks for this video man process went smooth !!!
Hi
I have a 2001 Mercedes s500 in the uk
Whats the best way to add an AUX or Bluetooth to the car while keeping the cd changer working.
PS.
I am not bothered about the outdated command or being able to play tapes !
Hello i have the w215 cl500 i will upgrade my audio but should I do the same ? W220 and w215?
what was the artist name and album you started to play from your phone thru Bluetooth?
Thanks for sharing that build and great work!
We’re do you buy a 2003 radio system from and how much do they go for ??
I have the old cassette system. Do you have suggestions how I can modify the old system so I can stream songs from my iPhone?
I have a 2002 mercedes s430 and I'm looking forward to replace the old unit and upgrade it to something like this but can you get the GPS working with the old Antena ? or you have to get a new antena
Hello i want to do this one the cl500 2002 w215 is it the same diagram?
Hello i want to make it on the 2002 w215 what should i do? Plz help me
have same unit but cd changer is not work. ok sometimes working or it fails completely
Hola Freddy .tengo un mercedes s430 del 2000 y me gustaría hacer el cambio del radio del 2006,como te puedo contestar por cell
Can you still use the 6 CD changer through the head unit
I need the wireless Bluetooth part you installed.
Buy Yatour, plug it in the CD changer input, enjoy. The Radio will think there is a CD changer and all your controlls will work.
How did you change the interior from beige to black?? Do you have a video on that? Your install looks great! Love it
I followed your video and guide and it worked perfectly. But i wanna know is how you got the steering wheel to work with the radio.
Would the tape deck wire method to put Bluetooth into a 2002 Infiniti Q45?
@HollywoodNights.cc
Cool radio upgrade. Did you get everything from E-Bay? Also is there a website that talks more about legacy radio conversions. Last, believe it or not, I want to upgrade my multi CD changer to one that plays mp3 cds. I want to avoid wire splicing and you the current cables.

I did a similar upgrade on my B7A4 (Upgraded from Non-Navigation to the Factory RNS-E Unit)...always nice when you turn it on for the first time and it works!
where did you buy that 2 din comman system
Isn't one of the main points for the compatibility of the head unit, that the old navigation antenna will work with the newer system?
