Sullivan Fortner is the perfect accompaniment for Lauren, he plays these beautiful big rich chords to back up her beautiful voice.I can’t get enough of her voice !!!
Lauren Henderson's enunciation is actually beautiful. She pronounces words artistically. Don't know if she realizes how great she is. This lady is going to be one of the greats! I'm gonna be there to watch!
@@LaurenHendersonMusic IF you find yourself in Portland, OR, I will make sure to see/hear you. Wouldn't it be nice if you could bring Sullivan with you? Now there's an idea. I'm going to tell everyone I know. You have to be extremely closely watched! WOW!
Today has been my first introduction to both of these talents. It also just happens to be my birthday and what a treat they have both provided for me. My thanks to Lauren and Sullivan. I'm a new fan from this moment on.
Old Sinatra song * (Jule Styne with lyrics by Sammy Cahn) from his movie (with Gene Kelly) "Anchors Away!" Beautiful song, ridiculous movie but great movie! As usual, the singer has a grasp of its nuances. Beeeootiful accompaniment!
Thank you very much for your thoughtful and supportive posts. We immensely appreciate the time you took to listen and the valuable information you've shared! Sending you the best wishes!
I fall in love too easily I fall in love too fast I fall in love too terribly hard For love to ever last My heart should be well-schooled 'Cause I've been fooled by your charms in the past I fall in love so easily I fall in love too fast My heart should be well-schooled 'I've been fooled in the past I fall in love way too easily I fall in love too fast
Beautiful voice. Love it. As a pianist myself who works a lot with singers I would say Mr. Fortner’s playing while sensitive with a nice touch is a bit too nebulous harmonically speaking.
He is a harmonical genius, don’t worry he knows perfectly what he is doing. Please check out his work with Cecile Mclorin Salvant. He is one of the best singer accompanists around along with Fred Hersch, Bill Charlap, etc… I worked with a lots of singers too, but when I listen this I prefer to be humble.
Thanks for your reply. Actually the song I Fall in Love Too Easily is rather nebulous harmonically anyway. I prefer Fortner’s playing for her on In the Still of the Night. I don’t care for Cecile Salvant or Fred Hersch. Bill Charlap is ok as an accompanist. To be honest I would rather listen to the old master accompanists: Tommy Flanagan, Hank Jones, and Ellis Larkins. Check out Larkins’ and Flanagan’s work with Ella and Jones’s work with Nancy Wilson and Abby Lincoln.

Jim Jennings Thank you so much for your support and kind words! It means the world to both of us.
Totally agree about everything. History will look back and say Her enunciation and phrasing places her in an elite class of vocalists from ALL eras
Lauren's voice is as beautiful as her looks! Great stuff from the awesome pair!
Thank you so much!
Lauren Henderson is headed for major greatness! Sullivan Fortner is, as well!
Thank you so much!

Lovely arrangement of a beautiful song. Love the way you've changed the melody lines slightly, especially the last lines.

Beautiful voice! But that piano needs TUNING!!!!!
And all the attention to pacing and pronunciation is tedious detailed work
Thank you so much for your support! I appreciate your thoughtful remarks immensely.
Piano is out of tune ! Shucks.
