That toy was based on a Springer comic design, that design was old (last stand 2010) even when the toy was released (2013). That sandstorm look was never used on anything, it could be a new character since it isn't even is mostly orange.
@@spittor47 Nick Roche confirmed in a post online that he helped Hasbro design the Sandstorm toy first, which they decided to create an alternate tooling for as Springer. What order toys are released in doesn't necessarily speak to who the primary and alternate character for a tooling is any more, since alternate toolings are now usually preplanned at the design stage. For example TR Optimus and Megatron. Released first, but obvious alternates of Octane and Blitzwing. Or, more recently, Legacy Shadow Striker and Side Burn. When the alternate is released before the primary it's often referred to as a 'pretool'.
The cage is probably the most 'womp womp' bit of this version. I'm probably gonna grab this one. You can probably peg the cable from the winch on his back if those are 5mms way up by his tail rotor, and then hang the basket from the cable, if you were to want to keep it all in one place. You could complain all day about accessories using plastic but he's by far not the worst of that issue *coughBlitzwinghulkhandscough*. This is much more of an accurate update than the Thrilling 30 and Springer was a much better use of that mold. I did like the Springer, but just ask the Sandstorm to walk through doors with thise tractor wheels hanging off him. SIDEWAYS.
I had debated picking him up but now this just synches it. Yeah he's a just a really complex Voyager but I prefer a dense Voyager to light leader class so its no problem for me.
With my G1 Sandstorm I have fond memories of folding out those orange bits that cover the arms and attaching his gun into the now exposed fist, along with a second similarly sized gun on the other side which I stole off another figure for him. In my 8 year old mind that was enough for him to become a well armed flying dune buggy while also giving weapon storage!
T30 Sandstorm looks nothing like G1 SS, could be another guy sharing the name like the g2 brown cammo jet and o green camp helicopter or the bw scorpion. Btw the legacy toy has the "the cartoon head" they just added the g1 mouthplate, the G1 head looks way different, closer to Mixmaster, with a mouthplate.
The problem with mine is that when converting to helicopter mode I actually have to pull it forward some or else the double-hinged back pack (helicopter top) contacts with the back of the robot's waist in addition to the robot chest/arms not being properly aligned with the black side panels in helicopter mode. Its odd because the instructions don't mention touching it at all yet it seems integral my figure's transformation.
Broadside is an impossible character to do right unless it is Commander Class but it would be a total panel fest for sure. Because going from carrier to a plane is something odd. And there is nothing as far as I can tell that gives in an alt mode With Blitzwing you have the obvious nosecone in front of the tank. And we know the propeller tail fin with Sandstorm. There is just nothing with Broadside. Funny thing is in the cartoon he is huge. But he also comes with vastly different animated models in some of the worst episodes. Another issue is this, we are getting Superion, so safe to say that Silverbolt will be a commander class, going by Motormaster. Broadside would not be "the commander class" for a few waves to come. And my bet will be Octane is next.
I see with all reviewers from the US so far that the chest, to easily pops loose. An issue that is not there with the EU batch. Mine is fine I can swing him around by the arms and the chest stays tabbed in. It is really frustrating that they make batches with bad QC and release them. Happened with my SS86 Grimlock. Which I send back 2 times! Because the tab that supports the alt mode knee snaps at first movement...on every copy.
Fun fact, the thrilling 30 sandstorm is the original character for that mold. Springer was the retool that was designed after!
could you elaborate on that? Not seeing how that is true, Springer came out first and I can't find anywhere where Sandstorm was the first tooling.

Not according to tfwiki, and I got Springer new in store before I got Sandstorm the same way.

@@Puulis Not the first time we've had a "pretool" of a character come out first, probably not the last either.

Been looking forward to peaugh review of this figure
I need more triple-changers in my life.
I've found some ways to store the cage on the helicopter and robot. Unfortunately you can't do photo/video responses.
I like his little hat
This guy is a pretty good Voyager.
Make sure to push the waist mushroom peg all the way back. This figure commonly comes not fully snapped in from the factory.
I will try that! Thanks!
Mine was like that. Crazy.

Fantastic review friend.
Thank you 🤗
It’s an orange transformer. Orange! Of course it’d be a Peaugh favorite :)
We need Commander class Broadside
Hasbro can't do broadside right
Takara can do too

$20 bucks says they release the cartoon head with better tolerances for the chest.
This has "the cartoon head" they just added the g1 toy mouthplate, the G1 toy head looks way different, closer to Mixmaster but with a mouthplate.
When a voyager from 2014 is bigger than a current leader...
unsure whether to get this guy or not. kinda hoping for a more cartoon accurate remold
Did you ever get a reply for the T30 missile? I have one.
I did not. Ping me on twitter.

Huh. I’ve been trying to see if I can find the issue but no luck so far.
It locks in fine. Just out of the box it isn’t pegged in completely.
How old is this channel?
Peaugh is the og. I've been watching him since the Animated days.
17 years, if I’m remembering correctly.
@peaugh One of the greatest pioneers man. All respect.
@@animemanj I had the same thought.
"Leader" LOL the old voyager is bigger and has the same amount of plastic XD
Shame on you Hasbro, shame on you...
