Hi everyone, it's another busy day on the Little Farm. We have some chicken things to do and I finally found a water barrel for the Little Farm's vegetable garden.
Oreo was so loved-it does not take more than half a day for something to go awry. You cannot be everywhere at once and often have to prioritize what comes first. Hugs to you and the grandkiddos. Thanks for always sharing the whole experience of each day, showing the balance of life.
Evening Miss Annette, oh gosh when it rains it pours doesn’t it…everything comes at once to take care of…as you say just go with the flow.. deeply sorry about Oreo, been through flystrike….glad you did this very important video! I noticed your cute shirt with your logo, how cute😊 love and take care❤ 🥚🐝🍉🦋🐞🐰🐐🌷
Awe Ms. Annette I am sorry to hear about Oreo. I have never heard of fly strike. We had chickens when I was a child but I do not remember my father ever speaking of fly strike. My sister-in-law has chickens and I have learned some terminology from her concerning her chickens. You sure had a bad day but thankfully there was no one hurt or a fire.
It all happened so quickly, yes a bad day but we recovered nicely. Thank you for your kind words they are much appreciated. I only learned about it last year and I have had chickens for many years, thankfully I have never experienced it until little Oreo. Thank you for watching, hugs
She was a sweetie and is missed by her sisters, thank you. I am looking forward to the predicted rain this weekend to see how the rain barrel works out. Thank you for watching, hugs
So sorry for the loss Annette. You did your best by giving her loving care and saving the others. I'm glad that you and your little farm are okay. Oh, and the Mr.
Sorry you lost your Oreo. But glad the others are OK. Good luck with the rain barrel. Is there a mosquito screen on it. I have one that we got from some organization maybe 10 years ago. It is a mosquito haven, and I am so frustrated by all the bites I get.
Thank you so much for your comforting words, the other girls are doing fine so far. I put tablets in the water so we should be ok. If they don't work I may try some goldfish. hugs
Wanted to say that I'm sorry for your loss or sweet "Oreo " it's never easy to lose a pet, they are a part of your family. You love all your pets ,this is obvious. You do a great job with them and they are very lucky to have you and their wonderful home !! Take care ❤
Never knew of that disease with chickens. You saved the rest of the flock and so sorry she didn’t survive. I love my water barrels. I bought 2 of them from Hendricks fair grounds. They have a sale every spring. I brought them in last spring and they rest on stands. That way it’s easier to fill my watering cans. My garden likes the rain water!
I haven't had to deal with it before, but I am glad I figured it out. Thank you for your kind words. We may find that we will need to put ours rain barrel up too. Thanks for watching, hugs
Thank you Miss Annette for sharing a part of your little farm. So sorry for the loss of Oreo, it’s always difficult when you lose something you love, I hope your grandchildren will be okay. What are those trees growing along what I think is your property line, they’re not to tall but very leafy at the top? Do you not let your goats eat the tree debris?
Thank you, I appreciate your sympathy and kind words. They were sad but ok thank you for asking. Maybe it's the bamboo? Yes we let the goats eat their fill and got rid of the rest.
I am surprised that the people who were responsible to cut the limbs away from the wire did not clean up , I am glad they did not say the whole trees needed to come down. We experienced this last summer when the electric came and reassessed their 'right of way' on their lines, they took down 2 massive oak trees on our property which I would believe were there for at least 50-60 years. I asked if they could not just trim, but was told there are rules of how many feet from the wire a branch or tree has to be, etc. and down they came. We did have them chip of the limbs and got 3 nice large piles for free and they cleaned up, as well, for free any left over debris. It has been a drastic, heart wrenching change in the loss of shade, but most importantly to me, the loss of those wonderful trees. I did tell the guy, "I bet you hate your job." Which he politely replied, it does have lots of draw backs. Enjoying your videos so much, thank you. In Joy
I am so sorry about your trees , yes we were told that they weren't responsible because it was an emergency. Mr Steve and I decided to clean it all up ourselves so we borrowed a big truck and loaded it up, took it to the Green Dump and they mulched it. Thank you for watching, I am glad you are enjoying visiting. Hugs
