For some people, slavery was a choice. Black people need to read up on the Black Seminole Wars aka the Gullah Wars. American history teaches us that when slaves would revolt or flee from the plantations they all went to the North but this isn't the whole story. Many fled to Florida to fight the Geechie/ Gullah army. Jay-Z speaks to this on that Jay Electronica album when he says he's the General of the Geechie Army. So, it was not a choice in the matter if you were born a slave but once a person advances to a certain age it was a choice because many people tried to escape and fight for their freedom. Even if they were recaptured, being free for one moment means that you still make a choice to no longer be enslaved.
