@@NewLifeOfAlbanyGa in regards to word a flame study bible.. I see that I received an e-mail.. because this bible has just come out with an updated version...it appears to be the same.. with some added maps..
I have a question Pastor, I am a oneness apostolic and I have had this question for a while. I have heard my pastor read the verse on braiding your hair and how you shouldn’t do it but a lot of faithful members in my church always wear braided hair and my pastor doesn’t seem to say anything about it. What do you think about the braiding of the hair?
The phrase "broided hair" is translated from the Greek term 'plegmasin', which is the general term for that which is woven, plaited or twisted together, with or without the inclusion of stands of mixed fibers, precious metals or other forms of ornamentation; in the early modern English employed in the Authorized text, the adjectival participle 'broided' means what we mean when when we in late modern English use the term 'braided', this same meaning in spite of the change in spelling being noted by Noah Webster in his 1828 Dictionary of the English Language. The issue with the braiding of one's hair, with or without anything else included, is that in the pagan culture of the day of the first century church, it was a sign of one's wealth and social standing, and was frequently employed by shrine prostitutes as a sign of the glory and wealth of the gods and goddesses in whose name these were servicing their patrons, thus it is unbecoming of scripturally defined and demonstrated holiness for women to braid their hair, lest the outside observer think that the worship and service of our Lord Jesus Christ be the same. I love brother Waldron in the Lord, and I generally appreciate his work, yet in this point, we disagree as to the meaning of the text.
I have the study Bible and have found only one comment so far that concerns me. In the comment on page 17:21 the commentary says that the believers were given the ability to speak other languages. In Acts ch.10 Peter said that the gentiles had recieved the Holy Spirit the same way they had. I wouldn't mention it at all if it wasn't so important for those who haven't recieved the Holy Spirit yet to have a clear understanding of what speaking in" tongues" is. In the original Koine Greek ,that the N.T. was written in, the word " tongues" means" another language" and " a language". When the believers recieved the Holy Spirit they all spoke in the same one spiritual language. Just as when we are all praying in the prayer room at church. In Acts ch.2 three times it is written that the men in the crowd said" How HEAR we them in our own language"? This is the Word emphasising that the miracle for those in the crowd wasn't that the believers were speaking in their individual languages but that they Heard what the believers were saying in their individual languages.
Mark Pruitt I just bought the Apostolic Study bible Deluxe Edition....So I'm not sure how leather is... but can't wait till it comes :) Also, thanks for the info
Thanks for the honest assessment. I was considering one one of these bibles but for $110 I'd expect it to be of top quality, not corner cut to meet a price point. I'd pay whatever they wanted for a top shelf product with the best of everything...in blue leather of course.
It does not have glossary on the same page like the Thomas Nelson KJV Study Bible, Trinitarian Bible Society Westminster and Reformation Heritage Study Bible.
New Life Of Albany Ga. one more question, does the study bible have red letters editions for when Jesus is speaking? I heard they didn’t have it. Just wanted to clarify since I plan on buying this quite soon.
I have the 2016 3d edition. It is a great Bible mostly. I paid $120 to get the thumb index but they don't tell you it is only on the Old Testament. And the index is blank. It doesn't list which books are in that section. There are no words of Christ in red. That was a complete disappointment.
I personally appreciate an all black letter text bc the entirety of the Bible is God’s words. Though I do not dislike a red letter Bible in fact there is a Bible that has all of God’s quotations in red letter throughout the entirety of the Bible. . . meaning from Genesis to Revelation whenever God is quoted or speaking the text is in red. Pretty cool.
Pastor Walter, I’d have to say, as an Apostolic (and have grew up in the Scriptures), that I just received my copy of the latest copy of this study Bible and I’m not very impressed by it, myself, at my first pass. If it had included what the in search for truth Bible has in it, I’d like it more. I’d also like it even more if it would’ve had more of a Thompson chain type style as well. Just my opinion. The oneness of Elohim is just so elementary that I just cannot read the “oneness” writings anymore....this’s absolutely a great new convert Bible as it’s just loaded with such elementary doctrines.
@@joanweir1372 all Study Bibles from Catholic Study Bibles, Orthodox Study Bibles and Protestant Study Bibles are all filled with footnotes on how that particular denomination interprets the Scriptures.
If you actually study the Bible, you realize that Deuteronomy 22:5 can't be about pants or skirts since neither men nor women wore pants in the second millennium before Christ.
You’re exactly right. It does not mention pants or skirts. This is what makes this scripture so relevant and powerful. It transcends time and different cultures making the emphasis on gender distinction rather than a specific garment. This is really relevant especially in the times of transgenders. It’s all about the divine order of creation.

Broidering and braiding seem to be 2 different things. Intertwining with gold, silver etc.

Did they fix the problem? Did they add in Psalm 83:9?
