I'm a huge fan of Boxing and this fight here was just like moving around the ring with both of you throwing punches and jabs and one serious clinch. In DCS, does mid air plane contact cause the whole plane to disintegrate into pieces ? A ground view of this fight would be an interesting POV. Is that possible just for one video , LongShot? Superb Video, Sir !
Couldn't make out if you two were dating and wanted to switch seats mid air! Absolutely loving the commentary. You really do pull us into the fight with you. Well done sir.

Hey bud. I have attempted to contact GS about flying the yf23. It can BVR, it can dogfight, it can disappear, it can stay undetected. I have never seen anyone two circle rate fight with it. Why does the YF23 never get any love?
The fighting was INSANE_ this was cool to see surprised you didn't use the Cobra more- but it's hard to tell when you disable the FCS to do the supermanueverability , to lose speed lol This looked REALLY hard- and you pulled it off = this was super impressive Longshot! props to your Foe, he made that Mirage fight it out every step of the way! /Also, lol , Video 2 of bugging ya to maybe try some high speed high altitude Mig 31 Foxhound action!
I'm dying to get into DCS, and I really want to play in VR. However, there are a lot of controls to learn so I'm thinking it may be easier to start on a monitor so I can see them or look at notes until I have everything memorized. OR, my other thought is to go right to a full fidelity module and just learn the actual controls in the cockpit in VR with a mouse. I'm sure it'll be a steeper learning curve, but what do you guys think? Any advice for learning and getting into VR quickly, or do I need to just suck it up and take my time on a monitor first.
Absolutely great flying from you and the Mirage the Mirage 1C trap was very impressive ! That said, IRL the Mirages arent any kind of super fighters and are greatly outclassed by both the su 27 and the Mig 29 in BFM and most things really. In DCS they are laughably overmodelled, even outrating the F16 ( not sure if the new F 16 updates changed that).
@@getsideways7257 New update on M2000 : FM turn rate increase. It is like FBW switch is off with the old FM. So now, it's should be an hardcore pro BFM top tier class S. More test to do.
1:53 - LongShot: "The closer we gonna get, the more control I'll have..." 2:05 - "Oh that's too close, too close!" LongShot and the bandit collide. 2:17 - LongShot: "I'm going to try a different kind of a merge here...." ROFL!!
As for the difficulty of a Mirage 2000, the Flanker may have a lifting body but a low wing delta is close to the same thing and it weighs half as much, it's digital FCS allows it a lot more envelope than a Mirage III which is already a very good lightweight fighter. The Mirage 4000 version the French prototyped was regarded as roughly equivalent or better than an F15C during development trials and that's just a twin engine 2000. A Mirage doesn't strike me as a pushover or outdated.
LOL! That collision was awesome! The Su-27 and variants are all based on a beautiful airframe, but I'm wondering why more aerospace outfits don't use the delta wing. After all, it's been working for the swedes for decades, and both the Mirage 2k and Rafale use it, and it's clearly a great approach.
It's trade-offs. Yes, a delta wing makes you very maneuverable in tight dog fights like this, but delta wing aircraft generate a lot of drag. Reducing overall top speed, acceleration, and range. In today's world of airial warfare, close in gun fights are a rarity. The last recorded air to air gun kill (not including helicopters) being an Israeli pilot in an F-15 in the 1980s. Now it's about seeing the enemy and firing a missle before your opponent does the same to you and being to defend against said missle if you're the unlucky bastard to be fired upon.
@@Duskraven67 Oh, I see. That must be why there are planes that have a 'small' delta supplemented by canards and such. They're looking for the optimum 'mix.' Interesting. I bet wing design is a pretty absorbing part of aeronautics.
@StudSupreme correct, but even in that, you have trade-offs. A small delta, like the mig-21s, increases speed and acceleration but increases the length of the runway required as they have higher take-off and landing speeds. Otherwise, the plane will stall and crash. Larger deltas like on the mirage 2k mean the exact opposite. Shorter runways, more ordinance, higher drag, slower speed/acceleration, etc. You have to decide what your airframe is going to do and then select a design that will best fit the role you give it. Everything has pros and cons. You will not ever have a "perfect" aircraft. Just one that is better in certain areas than others.
Compliments to you I enjoy watching your videos the reason is you are not always Victorious like some other videos also the intensity in your voice when things start to get a bit too close for comfort thank you and please keep the videos coming and if I may suggest admission
If I may suggest a mission, 23 February 1991 operational detachment Alpha 525 infiltrated 150 MI behind Enemy Lines their hide was compromised they were almost overrun they got air support from I believe three or four f-16s they use an emergency PRC 90 radio and a signal mirror to communicate with F-16 drivers
Serious question, why do I never see you or Growling use boom and zoom but you always do turn fights against any opponent? Doesn't boom and zoom work in modern air combat anymore?
The air brake is used to keep the engines in a high thrust range, and still reduce the speed and to be able to accelerate faster again. Why don't you use them?
Mine is not granted they fly perfect, if it's guns only, just outrate the dorito, if it's fox 2 fight, still the J-11 because they have to jam the wez by going one circle so now the J-11 WITH HOBS fox 2's doesn't need to restrict its AoA with the FCS. Which if yk anything about super maneuverability in slow speed fox 2 fights, it's not fair for a general aerodynamic aircraft at all.
"To close for guns, switching to plane!"

Something much more dynamic and wild about the 1 circle fight 😁
You're doing great, LongShot! :D

If it can hang with the Viper in a two circle, there is an all-around super fighter just sitting there
That Mirage is like a mosquito you can’t slap
