- I am reuploading this video because of timestamp error in the beginning of the original one. In this video I've captured replacing the main bulkhead of my OE36 sailboat and tasting some Atlantic sailing on a charter boat.
As someone who loves projects but has back problems I have an appreciation for your methods of using straps and leverage to your advantage.
What a great milestone in the project and great to see the rebuild begin after stripping it all back 👏👏
Great job on your boat. Well deserved break sailing.
Your work on the scarf joint was impressive! And when you make a mistake you just ‘bite the bullet” and do whatever is needed to get it right. Those were some impressive waves coming into the harbor on your first view of the Atlantic Ocean. Take care and enjoy your time sailing!
Thanks for your comment! Yes, the Atlantic showed who's the boss on the very first meeting.
Great work on getting the bulkhead back in place! I never would have thought of hand planing a scarf joint into that bulkhead ... I think that i would have went with a lap joint near the center of the bulkhead as you had the companionway passing through to clamp the entire length of the joint (I don't have your patience!!) Great job on it though!! Wow ... those were some serious swells the day that you went out sailing!!! That boat in the distance disappeared ... before you know it you will be out there with your own boat!!! Keep up the great work!!!
Thanks for video.
Lot of jobs still to do.
But going nice. Finally boat will be like new.
Can you please tell what device you use for filming? Is great quality, special when zooming.
Great job on the bulkhead. I have just come back from Lisbon and envy you sailing there. Good luck with the rebuild and please keep us posted on your progress.
I'd go back to Portugal any time, sailing or just hanging around. Loved the country :)
I’m jealous of you, I love projects they give us propose.
Thank you for watching!
I’m impressed.
Oh man, My youtube algorythm is all Sailing and I love it when I get suggested another shoe-string budget sailor with skills to DIY.
Liked and subbed friend, Keep at it. You're an inspiration.
Thank you for watching and the subscription!
"I don't know how it's going to work out, but I know it's going to be a work-out". !! Anyone who says Estonians don't have a sense of humour need to watch this comedy channel - it's a laugh a minute, and unlike English comedy channels, no fake laugh track. I come here for the jokes, plus, on the side, I get inspirational boat repair techniques. Awesome!
It's funny you find my channel inspirational :D Thanks for your comment !
I believe, if I recall, that when you put a hand plane of a flat surface, rather than resting it in the blade, rest it on the side cheek so the blade is not impacted.
You're absolutely right!
Great work! As the long-time - and first - owner of a 27" Dutch-built steel sailboat I am always curious about the upkeep and refit jobs the GRP brigade have to do. I keep my fingers crossed for what comes up next for you!
I guess every hull material has its own challenges. One for sure - smaller boat = less worries :)
It looks great, your work. The most western lighthouse is close to Cach Cais. I visited that place in 1967. (some years ago)
Thanks for your comment! Time flies...
Nice work! I’m on my 40 ft Rhodes yawl in San Francisco Bay on a rainy day and watching your progress….I watched one of your videos when you started this project and seeing you enjoying your work and thinking of sailing is familiar to me and gratifying I know from experience. If you find yourself in California and want to sail, get in touch and we can take my boat!
That's a very nice offer, thanks! Thank you for watching and commenting!
I am no boat builder but it looks good to me.
Great progress.
Thanks!
I thought the time stamp was funny.
Your original comment on it was funny :) Sorry it got lost with the original video
@@sailingsmalldreamingbig9022 That's ok, Thanks for letting us, (my wife & I) know it was appreciated. Great video btw, we love your honesty, humility & dry humour. It really makes our day when you upload new ones.
Don’t be too hard on yourself
Thanks for caring!
