- Nightwish's first show in Seattle after singer Annette Olzon leaves the band in the middle of their Imaginaerum North American tour. ReVamp singer, Floor Jansen, steps in as substitute.
Consider, Floor had 48 hours to prepare and be ready for this concert. I wouldn't have been able to do it. And look at everything that's happened after.
I assume that she drinked a lot of red bull.
Floor is genius. The best singer Nightwish ever had.

Floor also had a head cold (she mentioned this earlier this year in an interview) so when you factor that in as well, a truly MAGNIFICENT EFFORT.

Same thing happens to her in Wacker 2013 recording. Don't know if it is accidental or not. Marco starts singing and she joins in mid-verse with so much power completely owning it. They were so good together.

Welcome back, Floor. Would have been a shame to never have gotten the Valkyrie of Metal! Thank you, Nightwish, for choosing to call when you did. A month earlier, we would have missed this beginning.
I think that the most impressive thing is that Floor is able to do ALL the songs, in any of these videos, WITHOUT the use of a lyrics sheet, despite the fact she probably had less than 48 hours to learn, memory, and practice them all o_O
That was BS, she was supposed to fill in for the Latin American leg of the tour so she was already learning the songs

thank you thank you for this nice video! It's sad to see Anette leaving, because she gave me a new Nightiwsh impulse. Something I lost in the last 2 years with Tarja (fan since '98).
But Floor is something else... I can't imagine how hard it must be to fill in on such a short notice, and she just pulls it off bigtime!

According to Floor's blog post, she memorized the lyrics on the way flying over here. Then she only had "an extended sound check" to rehearse with Nightwish. Given that, she did a fantastic job.

Don't knock Floor too quickly: having a cold and having to learn all the songs in such a short period of time, I doubt you'd do as well.
You're right, when Anette Arrived the make a new twist to the compositions the two albums with Anette were awesome. Now is the beginning of a New Era with Floor Jansen so, lets see what happens now after the movie Imaginaerum Premiere. One thing for sure is that I will keep following Nightwish with Floor Jansen and also Anette Olzon's Career.
While I'm pretty sad that Anette left, I am definitely hoping Floor stays in the band after the tour. She has an incredible voice, she reminds me of Tarja a lot which I find a good thing, but the thing with Floor is that she's way better live than Tarja was to me. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing Nightwish again at Tuska 2013, I saw them once before with Anette, and that show was mindblowingly awesome.
Tuomas wants an American audience and he won't stop until he gets one (and I couldn't be more happy with that). He's like a musical mad scientist and he's sorting it out. Tarja was Opera and only Opera. Here in the States that won't fly. Annette was too soft and was getting drowned out by Nightwish's dramatic and powerful sound. Floor Jansen has got what they need. She can match Tarja's power without going opera as well as Annette's softness without getting overpowered.
The big question is, can she take orders? Nightwish is Tuomas' baby and something tells me Floor isn't used to taking orders. Hopefully I'm wrong. I see good things in their future with this lineup. I wish them luck.
... and 5 years later we can say it has been a success :)

I'm so sad that Annette left the band. But I feel relieve when I found out the new front woman, now we can hear again some of Tarja's song that Annette couldn't sing and also songs from Annette.

I've actually forgotten that this song isn't from EFMB. It fits her so well.
I guess in a way but what you have to think about is Floor jumped in at the last moment to help Nightwish out with the tour. She wasn't around when the songs were written she hasn't had all of the practice time Anette has. She's doing her best to help the band out... I think she's doing a really good job considering.. Obviously I prefer the album with anette singing as the album was made for HER voice not Floors... But it's still good

@xxTaikatalvi hmm. Anette was good storyteller indeed. Plus is kinda weird they did not let her end the tour. Hope they had some really good reason. Floor must learn songs better that is for sure... All that little emotions still missing from her performance, but still she is gorgeous for saving the day!

Why is she singing so softly in all the videos? She has a MASSIVE voice! Was she literally asked not to over power the songs or Marco? This is why I and so many other people were so excited! We wanted to hear Floor's thunderous and vastly ranged voice sing these songs in a new way!

according to the press statement on the band's official site, she LEFT the band, in mutual agreement. Nobody was kicked out. BTW I share the same supporting feel you do but actually I do hear Floor reach every note in the song, she wouldn't have been chosen if she didn't... we might just hear it strange because of the video
Do not know how to react thiis... Love After Forever and Niightwiish but the styles have changed and now they are briingiing them back together... Hmmm iinterestiing and could be crazy enough to work...!

We know nothing about why Anette leave the band, we know nothing about why Tarja got The Letter. But Dead Boy is still writing his poem and wondering why he is still alone.

Well to the haters once again u know it was anettes choice to leave and it was mutual wasnt like they kicked her out no matter FLOOR is the best besides TARJA cant be denied and good par she is both combined both former leads just look at the newer videos as she becomes more comfortable with the band

I´m so glad that I could see Anette on this tour before Floor took over. It was completely amazing... And it would have been wrong for me if it was Floor singing the songs live...

You can say all you want about people who are sad to see Anette leave, they still aren't as awful and obnoxious as those "Tarja fans" and I call them that because they clearly have no eye for anyone in the band except for her.
true words. Tarja herself started to act as if she was the only talent in the band and as if the guys were just her sparkly frame. I loved her but her attitude of being the best on the whole wide world really annoyed me at a certain point. Also she never saw the necessity to learn something new, to develop her voice, and nowadays she sounds so weak when she performs the old Nightwish songs.Very upsetting... let's hope Tarja finds back to her old self from the beginnings, she used to be such a sweetheart

Well there's hardly a metal singer out there of whom you can't find live performances that aren't up to snuff with their studio performance, including Tarja and Anette (and even Marco!). It's a flaw in the genre, probably because of the volume levels at concerts. I for one think she's perfect for Nightwish and hope they stay together. To all of you who still think Anette is better than Floor I'm gonna say - "you should understand Floor have only 2 days to learn all these songs... " and Anette never has Floor spirit, atitude, energy, etc... and she was too fatty for NW by the way...
I can guarantee you she ha no choice. If you know Floor at all you know this is not her. Someone did not want her overpowering. She is holding back 100% of everything she has!

Im soprano too, and all songs they did with Anette are a hell for me because they are too low, so it is hard to sing them. Tarja also had hard time with low songs on last two albums. Floor is soprano also, although she can sing clean. But she is a lyric/coloratura, and this makes it even harder for here. From what I can hear, she is doing best she can with the songs that do not fit her vocal range.
Apples to Oranges, there can be no vocal comparisons because of the genders involved - only status & respect in the eyes of the Metal world. When Dio replaced Ozzy in Black Sabbath in 1980, the hate in each camp toward the other was palpable, despite the fact that Dio was better for Sabbath, & Ozzy was better off without Sabbath. Their story is playing out again before my eyes with Nightwish in the past 7 years, including the fact that Dio & Anette initially did only 2 albums as replacements.
Well, what you have to consider is that now that they have more of a classical singer again we run into the same problem that Anette had at times, which is that she suddenly has to sing a song by Anette, who has a rock voice, which makes it difficult for a classical singer like Floor. Personally I'm very sad to see Anette go, I really loved her voice, but Floor from what I've heard sounds incredible, more operatic than Anette and more rocky than Tarja. I hope she stays with them. :)
Listening to Floor sing Annette's stuff, I got the impression that maybe the songs were too low for her. Still, can't she sing them an octave higher or something?

I think it was easier for her because she was already a fan, so my guess is she already knew some of the lyrics even before being asked.
I still freakin' love Anette but since her lovers are not stupid like her haters, i will never throw shit on another artist who doesn't deserve, who is also good and who is clearly doing her best. I will still love NW, i just hope that this one is here to stay. She is not the only one having another band, Marco works with other bands on his own as well, and nobody has ever thought that he shouldn't be in NW, right?

But on the kicking part... Would you have really preferred if they cancelled all the shows instead of getting on with the tour? I know I would have been gutted if they cancelled. It's known that Anette's health was worsening, and the press release claims they've parted ways on good terms, so what if it's actually true and there's no huge drama about it all?

I so agree with you and I'm not only talking about this live performance but about the other ones too. She just rapes it.
LROTD is in no way written for Floor's voice. I heard Nightwish earlier in the tour, when Anette was still on vocals, and her rendition was better. Still, Floor did pretty good here for something that never would have been written for her, and she's WAY better on anything written for Tarja. I wish I had been able to see this version of the band while they were in the States.
Although I agree with you on the issue with Anette and wish that Anette would have stayed, I would've personally stopped by saying you're not impressed with Floor. This was her first night with Nightwish and filling for Anette, so it's understandable to me that she may not be on tune every note. It's not her fault for being placed in the middle of this, but she has really progressed. I think that Nighwish should call it quits since they cant keep their singers straight, even though i live them:(

Floor was sick during this gig. Cold and sore throat are known to cut a little bit of the lows in any singer. I for once know Floor has the range you've been missing in this performance, so I'll hopefully hear them on their gig in Manchester in a month.

And indeed, it's pretty shit to kick someone out in the middle of the tour, but disagreements can work on everyone's nerves and kill the atmosphere and make them play bad...

I liked Anette, but it wasn´t as good as Tarja. I my opinion is that Anette never didnt sang Tarja´s songs well! I learn to liked new Nightwish, but in my heart I still missed old Nightwish. This tour based on songs by Anette, so It´s natural that even such a great singer than Floor has hard work to fit songs and voice together! But I never wanted Tarja back since she was gone, but it would be great if Nightwish turn back those old days as they were before Anette! NW need a singer like Floor!
Well, this is exactly how it would've sounded if performed by Tarja. Operatic voice doesn't fit Imaginaerum at all. It's not that Floor is bad singer, absolutely not, but this has to be performed Anette way.
Well, maybe it's harsh but it's true. She doesnt really hit the notes. And yeah maybe Anette "fits" better but i'm sure she could do it better than this anyway. And actually i think this song is one of those song that actually sounds like typical nightwish. So i believe even Tarja would fit in this song.
