I mean, to be fair, newer Squiers have gotten incredible in the years. Do they beat a NJ Traditional Custom Shop? Probably not, but I think they sound and play good enough for 90% of the things you'll throw at them. They won't "hinder" your playing in any way. And yes, to second what you've already said: this man is one hell of a player!

if anything, to me it proves the amazing quote from Victor Wooten: "there are no wrong notes in the right context". Here, I'm sure some of those notes weren't "in the scale" per se, but goddamn was it good to the ears. Just a tiny bit spicy but the very quick succession of notes gets that tension and release so well. Well played to the player, for sure!
