My Doors vinyl collection up until now, has been a hodgepodge of original pressings, early represses, and a few recent reissues. None were in perfect condition (except for a cherry early pressing of Weird Scenes) and the mixes were spotty. So, yesterday, when I saw the AP had all 6 45rpm sets back in stock I figured, what the hell, and ordered them all. Who knows how much longer they will be pressed, and $360 shipped for 12 records in gorgeous gatefold albums really isn't a bad deal. I'm excited to give them a spin soon.
I’ve got the Strange Days double album release and it’s amazing.. Back in about 1978 I bought 2 copies of An American Prayer soon after its release and to this day I’ve never opened one of them…Back in Los Angeles in the 60s we use to see the Doors all over Town..
That reissue of Oscar Peterson’s ‘We Get Requests’ is absolutely first class. I would recommend this for anyone just getting into jazz. Oscar was my introduction to jazz, my dad owned some of his Exclusively For My Friends LPs which are on the German MPS label (small and intimate live performances in the home of Hans Georg Brunner Schwer) and is my favorite jazz artist.
i love the look of the physical box on the AP box sets. i really have to get the Starker Bach Cello Suites. great to see your face. enjoy holiday and speak soon. also - this video seems nicer video and louder audio. new camera/mic?
AP needs to send you some commissions! , you are causing me to spend a lot of money with them! Ha! Keep doing these videos especially the AP products. I have not heard a bad recording from them period.
The Doors 45 AP vinyl releases sound absolutely outstanding. I have The self titled, Strange Days and LA Woman and its probably the best these albums will ever sound. I've been eye balling the In Living Stereo classical SACD releases on AP's website and like what i see and will be picking up a few titles next month.
Hi Michael. I ordered that Tull album right away as that is a need for my new collection. I need to look for the Muddy Waters LP. I have never bought a Living Stereo album. With a try sometime Always a pleasure to be tempted by you. Steve
One of the BIG GUNS of Analog Productions! Lol. Too bad L.A. Woman does not include the original cut-out front cover (like the 180g Rhino reissue does).
Just like the "beetles " cared more about the mono mixes, "jimi Hendrix " was the opposite he was more about the stereo! Be nice to have both, if the mono version is not a "fold down"!

It sounds like the UHQR Aqualung will be a repress of the Classic Records 45 Bellman. A lot of these AP 45 people say you feel like they are in your room but with Folk Singer I feel like I am in the recording studio with the musicians. You can hear and feel the sound bouncing off the ceiling it is an amazing record and in my top 10. I too was disappointed with The Raven. I basically bought it just for the track Spanish Harlem but definitely something is missing from this pressing as it sounds better on Tidal. I picked up my first Speakers Corner albums: Doobie Brothers Minute By Minute, Lou Reed Transformer, and Al Green Call Me. All are super clean, quiet pressings that are well balanced but none seemed to have a great sound stage but were perfect in every other way.
As i have the 33 rpm Classic Aqualung (and i love it) i have next to no Problem if it is the repress of the 45 Bellman if that one is even better :-) If you consider the pricing of the Seakers Corners and the lack of other audiophile Pressings of this titles ..... all good i would say
Hi Michael- that Rebecca Pidgeon album was put out on 33 by Chesky Records I believe. I have a couple of Chesky titles and I don’t rate them at all. Great sounding but musically boring. I didn’t bother with the Raven for that reason. Great video again - I a bit obsessed with Analogue a Productions I have been buying their releases for 15 years and I have nearly 500 titles.
I understand that the original masters and/or session tapes of the first Doors LP are lost/missing -- and thus not sourced as well as the others from the band. Anyone know if that is true? If so, does the fidelity suffer on that one?
Very interesting to hear your thoughts about analogue productions and their releases. Do you order them directly from their website or is there another way to avoid expensive shopping to Europe? I live in the Netherlands. Thanks
