you said you made a mistake making a dupe, but no matter what content you bring out, it's always good. no loss there.
Thanks man! 👍
Keep up the good work Yakumo! 👏
@@RetroCore Are you going to do this video again when the fan made version for Mega Drive / Genesis is released? HAHA.
It's pretty impressive, though it drops the Oversway system like the PS1 version.
I always chuckle when I see Bob Wilson in the Fatal Fury games. It's good to know the former Arsenal goalkeeper had a career after football.
ngl I think the gameboy port is the most impressive and I will always love the adorable charm of gameboy sprite work!
No matter if it’s a duplicate, the content is always appreciated. I was quite impressed with the gameboy version.
Thanks! I also agree with you about the GB version. It's good fun.
Always appreciate the content duplicate or not. Have pretty much watched every Friday or Saturday night for years
Tha ks for the loyal viewing 👍
Just discovered the gameboy version a few years ago. My god, its extremely fun and well made.
Great memories of playing this with my late brother. we owned both the Saturn and PS1 ports- even though the Saturn port was the preferred version, the PS 1's additions (a clockwork orange, anyone?) was still solid and intriguing in its own right.
I wonder how many people picked up on White being based upon a Clockwork Orange.
@@RetroCore Everyone that's old enough, lol.
There's a Mega Drive version of this, I think it's a Brazilian dev. You can only play as a few fighters (4-5 I think, including Krauser) and there are only 4 stages, but it's extremely impressive and highly playable. You almost can't believe it's on such old hardware for how well it runs.
Yep, looking forward to seeing that once completed. I'll be doing a video on it for sure.
Alpha 2 snes?
@@makavelimusolini1036 Yeah that's true, Alpha 2 is awesome. Genesis is older hardware than SNES though, and it's a tiny dev team from what I understand. Or maybe even just one person, idk.
I enjoy the old SNK fighters like this and it was a delight when i seen this (or other SNK fighers) in a NEO GEO cabinet in my hometown or where i currently live then.
This is one of my favorites in the series. Keep up the great work Mark!
Glad you enjoy it!
I remember I never had the chance to play this in the arcade, only either the home ports or gameboy version. When neo geo emulation was the shit tho, we absolutely played the hell out of it. Such a solid fighter.
I played this on PS1 first and yeah its still a good game on there, but when I played the Saturn version, it was really a step up, never played the GB port, but it looks good too, most SNK GB ports are very good tbh. This is probably my 2nd fav in the Garou series, number one being Mark Of The Wolves.
I play the Saturn one more than the NEO Geo version (I own the MVS cart) simply due to the vastly better music.
Another one of my Neo Geo CD games. My ability to wade through the loading screens is fantastic. That Gameboy port looks fantastic.
The GameBoy version is very impressive. So often hand held fighter were poor but not this and a few other SNK games.
Soon a Mega Drive version made in SGDK will be released
Yep, that is right. I'm looking forward to that.
this shows how much love you have for this that you did it twice!!!
Lol, I do enjoy it but I think it's more of a case of forgetting I'd already done it 😅
Played the shit out of this one the neo cdz, untill kof 97 came out. Then played on rb2 after that. Miss those days, lol.
Oh, good, I wasn’t just imagining you’d already done this. That happens a lot to me.
Lol, me too.
Great video! Don't forget at the end of the game boy version you get to fight iori yagami, and get to unlock him if you beat him.
Oooh! It keeps getting better. Real Bout Fatal Fury Special. Another one of my favorites in the Neo-Geo library Mark. I made sure to add this gem of a title to the list to have as well . Thank you for sharing this with us kind sir. 8^)
Anthony..
You're very welcome.
I was about ready to say Neo Geo CD is the best version, but that original mode in the Saturn version sounds like it helps to edge the Saturn version above the one on Neo Geo CD.
I think so.
If I had nickel for every time Retro Core did the same show twice, I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.
, yep, the other being Slap Fight.
I guess it will happen from now and then.
Yeah I seemed to remember this game was covered but it's not like the naming conventions SNK was using at the time would make things very easy as "Special" used to be the updated Fatal Fury 2 and then with the Real Bout sub-series they updated with Special the first one!
It was a bit confusing I found.
gracias como siempre
You're welcome 👍
Sooner or later, maybe sooner I guess, I will see a remake of this BotP including the Megadrive version. Sure!
Lol, that all depends upon when the MD version is competed.
The video so nice, he made it twice.
Indeed. Either that or I'm old and just forgot I'd already made it 😅
Deffo pinnacle of Fatal Fury for me (Yes MOTW can do one), I phoned up maybe Raven games to buy Breakers ( Neo CD ) at the time but they recommended I get this instead, so glad they did - that arranged soundtrack is one of the best i've ever heard. Fair comments on Dominated mind, it is a bit gimped but a cool release in it's own right, worth looking at.
Raven games. Man, that's a fast from the past. I bought Darius Gaiden for the Saturn from them for a whopping 60 quid.
Real Bout Dominated Mind has a unique bit of content over the Saturn and Neo CD version, and that is the ability to unlock more moves for the characters! Meaning their movesets from Real Bout 2 and in the EX characters' case, their variants' moves are united within the main characters.
And thet added a really badass Super Cancel mechanic! Meaning that the combo system was expanded upon.
Oh and the Game Boy port has an unlock in Iori Yagami from KOF 95!
I wasn't aware of the unlockable moves of the PlayStation port.
Thank you for this video 👍🏼
No problem 👍
First, I am a SEGA guy so SEGA is number one for me. However!
The arcade and Neo Geo CD share the top spot with Saturn.
Added with geese as playable character and new boss in ps1 Version
Thanks, Mark. Love your bite sized video's.
My pleasure!
I have the Saturn version of this and it's a great game! I was contemplating getting the MVS cartridge first, but the Saturn version is so close that it didn't make sense to spend that much more. I also think the muffled, lower-quality voices work in its favor, as the arcade voices are just way too loud. Makes sense in an actual arcade, but not for home use.
Didn't watch it first time, in time for the second one 😊😊👍👍👍👍👍
Hope you enjoyed it!
@@RetroCore As always 😊
Arcade version followed by the Saturn with quicker loads and no death animation pauses. NGCD due to loading issues followed by the PS1 due to it's missing animation and 1 pane fighting, and the lastly the GameBoy.
That was the PS1 😊
@@RetroCore I gotcha, phone changed what I typed. Typed again PS1 again and it went to 2. Deleted the 2 and added the 1 to correct it. New Galaxy Ultra 24 phone on Sunday.
My favourite in the Garou series👏
Awesome video and game choice! 😎👍
Thanks👍
With the psx port SNK was like: Yeah there is less frames of animation but you psx ppl got new characters and........ANIME!!! Just be happy with that, lol.
Lol, I bet that's not far from the truth.
There is an official PC version of Real Bout Fatal Fury Special that was only released in Korea. I own that version but I haven't played it yet. There are quite a few SNK PC ports that were released in Korea. I also own the PC version of Fatal Fury Special. I think Real Bout FF Special is the best looking SNK fighting game. Most SNK fighting games look slightly too pixelated where as Real Bout FF special looks quite sharp. I like the vibrant colour palette and flash effects when a blow lands. The game even has some blood in it and you can smash your opponent off the stage in a "Ring-Out" fashion. The SNK PC ports that I own are usually based off the arcade version so I'm interested to see if Real Bout FF Special can beat Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves as my favourite fighting game.
Ah, I've heard about these but I beleive they're all emulation based.
I've not seen one myself to verify that but that seems to be the case.
Right after i buy rhe Fatal Fury anthology volume 2 whixh includes this game you release the video.
Talk avout good timing 😂
The Playstation port also has changes in the backgrounds.
That's right. Some do look better such as soundbeach.
This is the first Fatal Fury game that had better sprites than King of Fighters in my opinion... well, that is until KoF 2000 introduced Vanessa. But RealBout special had the best Mai out of all the series. Mai's outfit became too revealing for me to feel comfortable to play those other games in the living room. Nah. Her design in this game is perfect.
I know what you mean. I love skimpy dressed characters but they aren't appropriate for playing while kids or other family members are around.
*SEGA SATURN hands down!* ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️
Agreed!!
I have the PS1 and Saturn versions, that GB version though, that bastard is around $30 to $40 for a loose cart on Ebay these days, stiff. I do love Dominated Mind, my only complaint, the difficulty has been toned down quite a bit, except for cheap ass White at the end, though his design is badass, and obviously Clockwork Orange inspired.
The PS1 version does lose character animation frames, but adds things to the background that animate not seen in the other versions, like the Beach Stage (likely Sound Beach seen throughout the series, SNK finally let us see the location itself with this game).
I do have to agree on White being a total cheap cheat of a character. Seems to be a thing with many SNK final boss characters.
These early CD systems, they put all the data at the center where read speeds are slowest. If you could pad the game data to the outside edge it would speed things up dramatically.
Nit all games did that but some did.
@@RetroCore
I believe that if they use CD audio, the data track must be track 1.
Happy to be corrected. If the audio is streamed as data, then it can be anywhere, and the data can hence also be placed anywhere. The issue with doing that, is that the system then has to process this audio, costing time and RAM.
CD-audio only incurs the short seek delay, and hogging of the drive, preventing loading or streaming data while the music is playing.
Another significant factor is that these early CD-ROM systems often had 1x or 2x CD-ROM drives. 150KB or 300KB per second.
TBH, I haven't looked at whether any of these slow drives even support CLV, and therefore whether there's even any benefit other than seek time, to putting data further out on the disc.
If I was to guess, I'd say that a 2x CD-ROM drive is 300KB/s from the 1st bit to the last, as it would otherwise be a failure of a 2x CD-ROM drive in 99% of cases where all of the data is in the first '10 minutes' of the disc.
In addition, the TOC is always at the start, so pushing data out on a slow drive is just going to add a huge seek time when moving from the TOC to the data during the initial load.
I'm curious to know if there's a method of putting a data track at the end of the CD-audio, as well as one at the beginning and in the middle. Pretty sure that breaks the standard, though.
cool video...i d add the md homebrew port next time
There are moans and voices in the opening of Aes and Mvs and the sound seems better on Aes Mvs (not counting the music) and Neo Geo Cd compared to the voices mainly on Saturn and Playstation, on Saturn the Blue Mary clip has a lack of song synchronization with the animation.
Look I just want you to know that doing the same game twice is OKAY!
Dude, are you revisiting the same exact show you did back in early 2019? Man, the same thing happened to Slap Fight.
It will happen after doing the show for years.
One minor detail about Dominated Mind is that there is no Victory screen / music, after you win the match you automatically go to the Loading screen and i think that's a shame really...
Stupid question....what's the difference between Real Bout and "standard Fatal Fury" franchise
It's a subseries which simply moves forward the Fatal Fury series while reprising certain story plot events of previous games. Kind of like the first Real Bout game could be considered Fatal Fury 4 while also being a remake of sorts of the first Fatal Fury game at the same time. At least the story of the first Real Bout game is considered canon because it's referenced in the prologue of Mark of the Wolves and its events lead to it, while Real Bout Special and Real Bout 2 seem to be some sort of alternative stories.
Shame the Playstation one isn't as good as the other ports. That anime opening and character select screen look great.
That was often the case. If money wasn't a problem, owning a Saturn and PlayStation was the best solution.
If its a second version of the video, you will have to make a 3rd installment soon as the Mega Drive port is about to be released 😂... just kidding , great video as always
I'm looking forward to seeing how well the Mega Drive version turns out.
IMO the best game in the series, besides Garou.
Great game but RBFF2 is the best. Most intensive gameplay on a 2d fighter, its just amazing and a shame never ported to a console back then.
Where those sprites from fatal fury 3?
I don’t know why I can’t pull the trigger and buy this one for my Saturn. It’s so cheap.
You should do. It's a fantastic port.
I haven’t really played any of the fatal fury games, outside of fatal fury 1 and 2 so version. It really does so just how much of a marvel the Saturn was I’m having recently bought and sold a PS1 makes me realise just how overrated that system really is. I’m interested in getting a Saturn to see what I missed out on even though I played the Saturn back then with with friends who owned a Saturn, it’s unfortunate that Segal of America made some terrible decisions with the Saturn make mistake. Saturn was the best arcade port of TD fighting games for sure, I think all the other versions are pretty good. In fact, the only thing wrong with the Neo Geo CD what’s the slight pause just before the death scream of the losing fight. As you said, but other than that, I think it’s a great version and identical almost to the arcade and Neo Geo AES versions, just thought I’d catch up on battle of the ports and I really enjoyed this one.
I won't lie... removing the two-line battle system might be a POSITIVE for the Playstation version lol. I never liked the whole lane switching gimmick!
It's definitely one of those features that people either love or hate. At least it's not as bad as the 3 lane system in Fatal Fury 3.
You might appreciate it more if they took the un-realistic jumping out of the game. Considering the rise of 3D at the time it was probably seen as necessary to combat the 3D onslaught.
ah yes another episode in the accidental remake series
is the Neogeo CD version censored? I see white blood. or can you switch between whte and red?
It's the US version I'm afarid. The Japanese Neo CD version has the blood.
What about Fatal Fury First Contact on NeoGeo Pocket ??? 🤔🤔🤔
Different game.
For an American dude Terry sounds very Japanese :)
i mean, i gotta wonder...is there a to blue mary blues speedrun of the game?
I bet there is somewhere 🤔
Funny they never made a Neo Geo pocket version
Yeah, SNK really dropped the ball with the pocket. So many missed opportunities.
Loading times in this particular game are pretty annoying on Neogeo CD. The sequel and prequel are a lot better in that regard. I like this game, but try to avoid the Neogeo CD one.
The animation opening on PS1 is pretty amazing, I was blown away the first time I saw it in the 90's
Yeah, sadly the Neo CD access speed was very poor. I'm amazed how they thought that was acceptable. Especially when the Saturn and PlayStation has 2x drives.
No, megadrive version?
It's not completed yet.
Would you do a Battle of the ports of Metal Slug?
Did that a long time ago. There's actually two versions.
Here's the main one
ruclips.net/video/prAWkWLe2AQ/видео.htmlsi=BQ26cvh80l1nzi8S
And and additional update.

@@RetroCore I knew something tells me you did.
Didn’t you already do this game?
Yep.
you do know theres a game gear port >?or is Fatal Fury special on the GG something else ? I dont know why but i always liked SNK's fighters better than capcoms but I must say you can actually see the characters enough to knopw who they are... something you couldnt say for a lot of GB games ......
It's Fatal Fury Special on the Game Gear. It's a great little port as well.
Even GB port is decent. No real stinkers here. Gut.
Mega Drive version ???
Look at when this video was made. There was no public Mega Drive version that we could add to the video.
And no oficial version to sega genesis? 😅
It's not finished yet. I would have liked to have featured it though.
The Saturn version has this weird sound problem, sound way too short for the intro, the speaker announces the next round number but sometimes the number doesn't be heard. And minor graphics glitch ( really minor) , and ( but i'm not shure) the bleu mary video clip seems to be unsynchronized ( for less than a half second) with the music.
Gameplay is intact but I was a bit disappointed with the Saturn Port, a slightly felling of unpolished work.
Are you using the official 1MB cart? I've never noticed any of the things you mentioned.
The intro actually runs too slow which is why the audio ends before the visuals. I had to speed the Saturn footage up at the end to keep it on sync with the other versions.
I wonder if this is because I'm using the 4mbit ram cart?
On the flip side, my Blue Mary Blues video is in sync. I uploaded it separate to this video.
Doh!! De ja vu 😅
Yep. Never realised I'd made this one previously until I was editing the footage. By that time it was too late to make a new show.
NeoCD version has milk as blood. 😫
Ah, that's because I only have the US version 😭. The Japanese version has the red blood.
Yesssss!
We prefer the PS1 version as it adds in Alfred and eliminates the horrid line system, which was always bad and unnecessary (imo)
