    Dr MK hv got a question concerning Prehn's test...isn't it that it's negative in torsion but positive in epididymitis, thus pain relief being only in epididymitis??

    • @DrMK7
      @DrMK7  Год назад +5

      yes, a Negative Prehn's sign indicates no pain relief when lifting the affected testicle, which points towards testicular torsion however Positive Prehn's sign indicates there is pain relief with lifting the affected testicle, which points towards epididymitis. I may have switched the two

    On that patient with burns, 70kg was used to calculate the fluids required. When do we consider 40kg as maximum weight for fluid calculation to avoid overload?

    • @DrMK7
      @DrMK7  3 года назад +4

      The 40 maximum is for the burn percentage surface area not the weight of the patient suppose someone has 55% burns your maximum would be 40

    doc, I just have a question, and this may be late, but shouldnt the external hemmorrhoids be painful when bleeding?

    • @DrMK7
      @DrMK7  Год назад +1

      They only become painful when thrombosed or infected otherwise it’s just discomfort

    Doc. If the head is 9% then half is 4.5%.
    Then if the hand is 1% then half is 0.5%.
    So on station 8, is it that the TBSA is 6.5% seeing as the surface area from the hands bilaterally is going to be 2% considering two full hands contributed 1% each??

    • @DrMK7
      @DrMK7  2 года назад +1

      I agree for the head but the hand 1% is the palm remember which is only the front, so I still maintain my answer, in the rule of 9s the hand is actually part of the 9% and the assumption we are using here is the rule of palms which puts the palm at 1% and I believe the palm is only on one side of the hand

      @@DrMK7 oh okay I see. That was done using rule of palms. I get the reasoning used. Thank you doc.

    Doc just a clarity,what body burnt surface area percentage do you consider before giving IV fluids?

    • @DrMK7
      @DrMK7  3 года назад

      Ideally fluids should be given IV regardless of percentage

    • @DrMK7
      @DrMK7  3 года назад +1

      But with some literature >20%TBSA in adults, and for burns >10%TBSA in children
