Back in the winter 92/93 we had a really cold spell .... we took a little family walk along the riverside at Henley ... we went over the lock and wooden bridge up as far as the 'ragged arches' on the way back we'd already noticed the river was frozen right over above the lock and just before we went through the gate to access the bridge again one of our twins (8 Years old) suddenly DARTED onto the ice and ran out to the middle ..... AARRGGHH!!!!! .... We Screamed!! at him to get back, and luckily he DID! .... Thankfully the ice was a lot thicker than we THOUGHT it was ...... Not SURE I'd have trusted it though 😵💫 .... a great clip of the fox 😀 ...... That water tap ... every time we walked along the riverside there .. our daughter (Now 30) would RUSH to it (both directions) to drink from it .... don't know WHY the fascination, but she still mentions it as we walk past it often with Her! Little one now 😀
Its all wrong here in Canada the home of Polar Bears and Igloos as well as mountains of snow,its 8cand the snow we had for Christmas is disappearing rapidly. While you poor dears are dealing with frozen ice bound locks multi layersof sweaters, miles of scarves and a lack of liquid water . My heart goes out to you but its not as its supposed to be like this! You always find the best in any circumstance ,Oxford and the wonderful combination of the archtecture and the Christmas Market ,showing your mum the sights.Then there is nature the fox, ducks the Paddle boarding Santas,the quirky Brits will always surprise you. Next time instead of using an ice scraper try using water and rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle. Here’s how much you should use. Mix 1/3 part water and 3/4 part isopropyl or rubbing alcohol together and pour into a spray bottle. Spray the solution onto your windshield, and voila! You'll see the ice disappear instantly
Oxford is beautiful, I saw the best busker there, he played the electric violin, brilliant. Love the snow it looks so beautiful. Ice on the river, wow. 💕
My favourite video from you two. Everywhere looked so pretty covered in snow and ice. The Christmas market and shops in Oxford were stunning with all of the twinkling lights and beautiful decorations. Some beautiful wildlife shots too, especially the fox. It was lovely to see your Mum, I hope she has enjoyed her time in England. Did you know there’s a tap behind the tree at the Remenham Farm Moorings downstream from Henley Bridge on the right hand side. As you look at the house it’s one of the two trees to the right of the house.

Golly, that's the first time I've heard ice getting scraped off car windows in many years .. I'm a Londoner but live in South Africa now, I used to ride a motor bike in those days so to wake up to the sound of that scraping sound was not encouraging. Thank you for all the lovely videos this past year, I recognize the effort that goes into them, and I wish you both all the best for your journeys and continued adventures. What a wonderful video showing "normal" winter weather, though far from it for the particular location, the River Thames and the entire canal system, neither of which are used to being frozen over! I also noted that the seasonal Christmas items being sold in the stores are very different from those sold in the USA. There are far more gnomes and far fewer Santa characters; I think I prefer the gnomes! Anyway, I hope your year was generally successful and that your 2023 will be exciting and enjoyable.

I see all the locks on the thames have red cards. I hope you are in safe harbor whereever you are. Here in oxford it looks like boththe thames and oxford canal are running at abt 25 kts. Be safe
Just watched a video of a continuous cruising narrow boat couple who converted to a diesel heater. Don’t know the pros and cons but on the face of it a heck of a lot less work.
