  • Stooshe are a British Girl Group from South London that began making a buzz in 2011. Their breakthrough hit 'Love Me' ft Travie McCoy saw the group gain international fame.
However, shortly after, the group disappeared. This video chronicles the group's formation, their success, the hiatus and where they are now.
    Enjoy xoxo

Stooshe are so underrated ! They can proper sing! And the ‘chemistry’ was there. They felt organic. I feel they suffered from ‘only one group allowed at a time’ the other group being Little Mix. Wouldn’t be surprised if Syco contributed to blackballin’ them. Especially after they wanted to sign them.
Black Heart is a tunnnnnneee! For anyone that doesn’t know them, check that song out!

@ Kayne Kawasaki Oohh I never thought of that 'only one group allowed at a time'. Something definitely happened behind the scenes because they literally just disappeared! Black Heart is an absolute tune. It was constantly playing in my head whilst putting the video together lol!

This makes sense cos I actually discovered both at the same time and they were "equal" in my mind but then Stooshe disappeared?

They didn't want to release Waterfalls as a single (which I like) as they performed it as an acoustic, their management and label did however. The label changed final mixes of their album in 2012 before its release without telling them, but when they found out they delayed it to 2013 to put it back to how the songs were, whilst adding a few more, which led to them leaving the label and management in early 2014.
Which is sad because they were let down by the people behind the scenes. They did record and finish a second album but sadly isn't out, but I really want to hear it!
Also, Betty Woz Gone turns 10 this year!
    Great video!

@ Joe May Thank you so much for the extra info. Me too - I would love to hear their second album as it seems as though they were going with a different sound. Thank you. I hope you enjoyed the video!

Thank you for this great informative video. Loved them and often wondered what happened to them.
They were unique and didn't fit into a box, which is what the record labels stick to to stay safe. They were yet more victims of the music industry, unfortunately. We've seen time again that unless you're willing to "play the game," you get nowhere, talented or not, (which they abundantly were)

Karis is currently playing the lead role of Tina in Tina the Musical at the West End. I saw the show only a few days ago and she is incredibly talented!

Stooshe are arguably the strongest girl group from the U.K vocally, my fave track is Slip :)

I'd say Stooshe are the 2nd best UK girlband vocals-wise, only just behind the ORIGINAL Sugababes line-up. I don't understand the whole 'there can only be one huge girl/boy music group at any one time' mentality this country has. Such a shame as they each had an amazing recognisable singing voice- nothing like the generic voices manufactured bands tend to have. They each had strong character and such a unique look and sound. I think it was just bad timing for them. If they were coming out now I think they would have stood a better chance- mainly because social media plays such a huge role in musical success these days, which is something that was basically in its infancy back then. You get your song trending, it travels around the entire globe in no time.

Great video, I think the first album was given an over polished sound by the label and that gave them an identity crisis they never recovered from. Their original sound cloud demos sounded fresh in a way the first album didn't, even though the album had some good moments

The saddest but most predictable part to me was hearing how badly they were mistreated by their label just like the other UK girl groups of this era. The fact they had a 2nd finished album and even previewed some of the songs in their 'Stooshe Sessions' RUclips series that never even got released 😭

Another great video, great visuals, great research, and entertaining to watch! Loves these, keep doing more. 💜
It a shame this group never lasted, they were good to watch.
Some more to add to the list 😂: Big Brovaz, Tommi and Ruff Diamond (RD).

It is a shame as they had potential.
Big Brovaz are on the list 😄 I'll see what I can put together for Tommi and Ruff Diamond!

The cover of waterfalls was a mistake. Whoever decided to cover that song was a wrong decision. They essentially were the uk TLC. The album should have been released straight after Black Heart.

    • @Sephsaysso
      @Sephsaysso  3 года назад +5

@ Kayne Kawasaki 100% agree - the cover of Waterfalls was a mistake! Yep had they released the album straight after their release of Black Heart, the album would've performed better and possibly had more of an impact!

These women can sing and sounded so good together but let’s keep it real, besides Love Me and Black heart, their songs weren’t good enough. I guess they traded in their own creativity and direction for success. They could’ve smashed some of the songs by The Saturdays for example.

The names though bruv I caaant lol this is why they never make in the states 😂🤣😅. Sorry call me a yank but your not a great international group or singer until you chart in the states even as a one hit wonder . Your not even a good actor until you cross over in the states. You need a Grammy or and Emmy or an Oscar even a Tony to say you've done something NO one is checking for you if you got a Juno or brit award. It's nice to have on the shelf but really dnt mean much
