  • Let’s compare versions and types of NodeMCU ESP8266 Boards. There are two versions in the market NodeMCU V2 and V3. Both, NodeMCU has ESP8266 microcontroller on the board. The major difference is of USB-to-UART interface chip and the size. The NodeMCU Version 2 uses CP2102 and Version 3 uses CH340 chip. Apart from this Version 3 of NodeMCU is slightly bigger in size compare to version 2.

      Hi Sinatajik, I'm glad to know you found this comparison of NodeMCU ESP8266 is useful. Even when I was new I struggled with bigger NodeMCU to fit into the breadboard while prototyping circuit. Thanks and best wishes!

      @@BINARYUPDATESHi, can we power the nodemcu v3 using 3.3v to the 3.3v pins? Or should we only use Vin?

    • @FaZeWIDOW
      @FaZeWIDOW 9 месяцев назад

      @@TON-vz3pepretty sure the 3.3v pin is an output pin and voltage needs to be supplied to the Vin pin

    • @TON-vz3pe
      @TON-vz3pe 9 месяцев назад

      @@FaZeWIDOW Ok. So it needs above 4.5 v to work. I feel ams1117 is a shitty ldo, but not sure which one this one has. On my esp32cam, if I give 5v it heats up a lot. But on the esp8266 v3 ch340 I have, it's not heating at all. Thanks for replying.

    what's the difference between nodemcu v2/v3 and nodemcu Lua v2/v3? i've seen a seller who has 4 options to select from, nodemcu v2, nodemcu v3, nodemcu lua v2, & nodemcu lua v3. please tell us something on it.

      I think Lua has some firmware installed that allows you to run Lua scripts, it should be similar in terms of hardware

    Good video. I don’t know why they make those wide Node MCU’s. They are not breadboard friendly and are basically a pain to use. A few years ago I purchased one of those wide ones and it is relegated to being a AP. With the version and CP/CH info I will be able to avoid the wide one in the future.

      Hi, I hope your NodeMCU ESP8266 which has CH340 is not broken. Usually, you'll find these modules are cheaper than CP2102 based NodeMCU. In past 2 years, I have seen because of lower build quality they cause issues very often. Good luck and best wishes!
