90% alcohol and steam works! A McCullough steam cleaner is awesome! Got rid of mattresses and pillows and bought new ones along with bed bug mattress and pillow covers. Treated along the carpet and walls with alcohol then steam cleaned EVERYTHING in, on, under and behind. Did it every day for two weeks. I also vacuumed after the steam dried, emptied the vacuum and put it outside sealed in a hefty bag after each use. I then steamed my vacuum clean when it was all said and done. All curtains, bedding and clothing went through a hot dryer for 30 minutes. Yes, it's alot of work but I've not seen any evidence of them since. This cost was nowhere near the $4000 contract the bed bug exterminator wanted with chemical use over a 1 year treatment plan. ONE WHOLE YEAR!
I used a steam cleaner with a crossfire treatment after haven't had any more 4 months. Steam cleaned every 2 days and did a poison treatment every 2 weeks no more bed bugs you aren't getting my money
We have them in our living room. In my recliner. We've treated and vacuumed this recliner twice now. How can I heat treat a part of our living room ? We kill and vacuum them up. Dispose of the dust bin outside in garbage bin. Twice now. I get a wake up from them crawling on me at 03:00 every morning. Exterminator is out of town for Thanksgiving weekend. I really need some sleep.
Be careful. Heat can destroy many items in your home, especially plastic. If your toilet has a wax ring it may begin to leak after high temperatures. Shower walls may warp etc.
91% alcohol works. Pour on small rag or towel(throw away) and wipe all edges the whole mattress box springs. Take bedding put in dryer on highest heat full cycle. pour in pleats on box springs. check out the black spots on springs.
91% Alcohol as bedbug killer is a popular online pipedream! I've SOAKED my bed and every inch of my living space with 91% alcohol several times to NO effect.
I need advice. I’m starting to notice some teenage mutant ninja bed bugs in the couch (so far I haven’t noticed anywhere else but I am laying out traps to see if they’re infesting anywhere else). I have pretty severe asthma and so does my sweet angel kitty. I am very reluctant to try any bombs..sprays or powder’s because even a candle can set us both off. I’ve purchased a average home steam cleaner to help the process and I have an exterminator coming in next week to help professionally steam clean the house. What else can I do? He’s mentioned that heat treatments don’t work that well but truly what do I know? I’ve never had this issue before and I’m in a pretty solid state of depression over this. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi casa, can you update us one what happened? I am facing a similar issue with a bed where I will notice one or two bugs every other day Not sure whether to call an exterminator or steam clean it myself Looking for ideas
@@fuchsia02I highly suggest diatomaceous earth, it’s safe for pets and humans in the correctly applied use. You wanna create a very fine dusting of the diatomaceous earth. Not thick lines, as this just deters them. You want them to get properly coated with this powder cos it will dry them out from the inside and they’ll die within 48hrs. You need the fine dust so they don’t walk around it and they take the powder back to their little hide-y hole. So they murder all their friends and loved ones. Every single one of their descendants needs to die. For anyone currently dealing with this: watch Mark Rober’s video on bedbugs. The two main killers are steam and diatomaceous earth. Put your mattress in a bed bug bag, it has to stay for at least 1 year. As bed bugs can feed once and then go dormant without feeding for 300 days. I read a YT comment where some guy said to move the bed away from the wall, put all the bed legs in little cups with some diatomaceous earth, and put a fresh sheet, use a soft paintbrush to brush diatomaceous earth all over the sheets and edges of the mattress. He laid in the middle in a sleeping bag. Said he was luring them to their death. I’m currently doing this in my apartment, as I recently found out my entire building has been reporting bed bugs. To this day, I’ve found 10. Which means there’s WAY more living in little crevices. ^^i decided to do all this instead of burn the building down. But who knows. Ask me again in 6months hahaha
We have a bed bug infestation in our house that is tongue and groove wood and no insulation. I'm assuming that the heat treatment would not work in this case. Do you have any suggestions for us?
I'm dealing with bed bugs now. And ordered me a steam cleaner because pest control has treated 4 times now and they are still present. Going to do things on my own. They are so nasty. Ughhh
Hold on, you said awhile back that a steamer works on killing bed bugs. I tried it and it killed them all. Are you trying to clickbait?
He wants you to buy his heat treatment. Steam will go into cracks and crevices killing them.
No he says turn your room into an oven...😆😂😂😂
which steamer did you use anything else
😁
How long did it take using the steamer?
Turning your room to an oven seems more dangerous than steam cleaning every two days
It's not like you stay in the room while it's heated, and it's not a gas powered heater.
122 degrees is far from an oven.
I bought a dupray heavy duty steamer. It's amazing. So far, so good.
Just bought one, did you use it on everything?
what else did you use how long?
did it work did you use anything else?
@@GlitterInDigital yes, I used it on my sofas, dressers, wall trimming and floors.
@@annas4669 after I was done steaming everything, I applied Diatomaceous Earth along the bottom trim of the wall.

The thing is you have to use a steamer because it cost 1500 just to have a treatment and nobody gonna pay for that so I just keep using my steamer.

Alcohol doesn’t kill anything but adults. Won’t do a thing for the eggs.
@@agcatdriver Alcohol certainly does kill bed bugs and their eggs, but only in the area where you sprayed it at.
Alcohol is EXTREMELY FLAMABLE and you risk burning down your house!!

I was told your method could not be used in an RV as 'the ceiling will fall down'. Is this true?
Steam is great for treating furniture that have eggs.
heat aint cheap mate.
What if you treat the perimeter with a spray ( crossfire, ex) and you then use the steamer if you do not want to use a bunch of chemicals?
You just use a steamer then vacuum the dead bugs steamer’s actually help he’s clickbairing

Nah they work pretty well. I would suggest diatomaceous earth as well. I’m pretty sure it’s not toxic to cats but you should check

$3000 to $5000 in US
every little thing helps
Poor alcohol in the cracks of the floors alcohol kills eggs and little hiders

No, you'll probably start a fire yhough.
