One thing I wish you tried is an "over ice" brew without any ice in the cup. I'm curious if that deals with the watery taste you mentioned. As far as I know the over ice for 8 oz brews 4 oz, the 10 oz brews 6 and the 12 oz brews 8.
I'm not sure it would be worth $100 to me. But I got it on prime day for $50. I definitely think it's worth $50. It's great for small kitchens. The reservoir holds more water than I thought it would.
I have this and it. stopped working after two months it would not power on, but I figured out how to fix it. Remove the reservoir, tilted on its side and press the button where the reservoir attaches. There is some excess water inside and it drained out now it powers on but otherwise, this has been a great iced coffee maker I paid for itself already because I drink it three times a day no more Starbucks
@@AtHomewithLucassounds like a vapor lock? Which is not that uncommon when people allow the reservoir to run empty.. or at least that’s what happened to mine when my aunt descaled it while I was at work lol. With mine I had to disassemble to get to the reset but this method sounds much easier to try if it happens again!
What I ended up doing was buying a hyperchiller from amazon then putting it on full brew, then putting it right under the k iced machine, then pour that over ICE. Otherwise it was too watery.
I was looking at what your kid will touch in the first part of your review. The whole ice coffee is a marketing thing. You will lose so much flavor by using it. The best thing to do is to make the coffee and use a drink shaker to make it over ice. Tastes amazing! Also the ice melts depends on what ice you use. Ice that the fridges make now days are hollow and melt fast. But ice from an ice cube trays thats been in the freezer will last much longer. This model is not well made in my opinion, like you said the physical aspects are cheap and its just extra bottons that are already whats expected. The different sizes are nice but what does it brew if you do strong and 12 oz? Does it taste as good as 8oz strong?
I bought a different version of this which is pretty much the same thing but it's not slim. I have the box sitting right here unopened I'm trying to decide if I should open it or not LOL but I'm wondering if adding ice after the coffee has brewed will help prevent the ice melting as much because when it first comes out it's hot so it melts ice immediately
That will get easier as you use it. But yes, I thought the same thing. Try this push the kcup down yourself so it sits in the hole and then pull down the lever. This should make the process smoother until it gets worked in.
Make sure you don't get coffee grinds in the water supply hole or cup hole. They will clog up fast & trip the thermocoupler switch & it wont power on. You have to take it apart & reset it so it will work again. I was getting ready to throw it in the trash.
Thanks for the great honest review. My husband and I have been using cuisinart grind and brew for the longest with a good quality bean. Either that or I will grind my own beans and French press. But lately I’ve been wanting to get a Keurig also just for the sake of time and not having to clean a pot. I know it sacrifices flavor. Is their any model of Keurig you recommend that’s semi decent? I was going to buy this one since I also like iced coffee too but now I’m weary of all the little quirks. Thanks!
I think that will depend on your preference. For me, a casual ice coffee drinker it was what I expected. But if you really are into ice coffee, it may take some work ( the right amount of ice and type of coffee plus additional flavors) to get it just right.
Oh, also, if you are buying it for just ice coffee alone, you may not be blown away. It's more of a casual ice coffee maker but mainly does hot coffee. If you only want iced coffee and never drink hot coffee, there may be other options, but they, of course, take a lot of work lol
@@AtHomewithLucas It is brand new, I filled it to the top. Called keurig and they talk condescending like I was a 3rd grader. I returned it to Wal mart.
I bought one about a month ago. Not loving it. Prior to my purchase, i would brew coffee, then put the cup in the freezer. Would then pour over ice. It was delicious. I was hoping this new machine would make my iced coffee quicker. Very disappointed. Coffee lackes flavor, very watered down. Back to my "old school" technique!!!
Definitely...but it's all I had at the time. Also, you can't say this machine only works with one size of ice that's not good. So it should work with any size of ice. I did hear one person say add the ice a few seconds after you brew to get a perfect ice coffee.
@@AtHomewithLucas only thing is that it brews at a lower temperature for iced coffee, it doesn't brew with cold water. So I think it would be impossible for it to work with any size ice. But yes more ice in your cup would help I believe. I just bought one yesterday, haven't used it yet. Thank you for your in depth review, now I know what to do and what not to do! Anything to keep me out of Starbucks LOL
You did it completely wrong. you’re supposed to use a smaller glass and fill it completely up to the rim with ice not 1/4 of the way. That way after what does melt you still have plenty of ice and you will have some room for creamer.
Yeah... it's very unfortunate. Keurig just isn't what they used to be. Their quality has gone down significantly, including machine materials and longevity. They're more toy-like now than a kitchen appliance. It's sad, because I loved the Keurig brand for many years, now I own a Ninja.
That's awesome to hear. Looks like Ninja just went public this year, so let's see how they hold up over the next few years. Might become just like Keurig lol 😆
why not use your hot coffee brewer and pour the result over ice??
Good idea

Yes that's a great way to make iced coffee but that's not how Keurig wants you to do it.
Have you seen this HyperChiller a.co/d/d8tXwQo
I also want to say that it is not over melt the ice so you still have a big cup of ice in your coffee. It’s really quite nice.
