- Peace on the Prairie. Randy Newberg heads to Nevada to hunt pronghorn with friend and veteran Ray White. Ray served in the army for 21 years, did 5 combat tours and recently retired a few years ago. He suffered from some depression and some symptoms of PTSD. Having not hunted for a few years and never hunting Pronghorn, Randy invites him on a hunt to do just that.
Ray is a thankful and optimistic person, with a contagious sense of humor. Despite what happens on the hunt, Ray is determined to enjoy himself and is grateful for the opportunity. They are able to locate several groups on antelope, and not they just have to get within shooting range. With plenty of time to hunt, hopes are high that Ray will be able to tag his first ever antelope.

I wish this was a more popular take. Thanks for putting out something like this. Sometimes we just want to have tunnel vision on the outdoors and we forget about men and women that put their lives on the line while we drink coffee with good internet.
I think this may be the best episode of Fresh Tracks. The story. The raw emotion. The vulnerability mixed with humor. I felt it like I was on the hunt.

A friend of mine hunts pronghorn with a bow. He took a piece of plexiglass and bolted two wooden trowel handles to it. He sprayed it with mirror spray. He puts the plexiglass in front of him and walks to the pronghorn. He says he can get within easy bow range as long as he keeps the mirror tilted downward so the reflection the pronghorn see is of the ground and shrubbery. He says if you tilt the glass upward it looks like a spot of sky opened on the ground and all you will see of the animals is dust.
