Dev, in 2005 I owned a home in Lauderdale. We got 4 hurricanes back then. We got gallon jugs of water, like 15 of them, cleaned out the freezer and frozen all of them. Then when power goes out move 3 or 4 od them into the fridge and it will keep everything cold. Then when they defrost replace them with frozen ones and you have ice cold drinking water. That allowed us to use the generator for fans, tv, internet and xbox! Just an idea. Good luck to both of you from North Carolina. Yeah, the damn things followed me up here. I can't get away from the hurricanes.

Sitting here in Tampa with little money to leave, and taking care of a veteran who cant be moved. BUT were hunkered down with lots of supplies, gas, and a generator. Hope we make it through. Having gone through a Cat 5 in Panama City Fl with Hurricane Michael, you really should consider evacuating. The devastation that comes with a Cat 5 is unbelievable. Prepare for no food, gas, cell service, power for at least 2 weeks. Praying for yall!!

Currently on vacation in Orlando and stuck🙃 (got here before the storm was even a thing) Been to Disney during a hurricane once before and it was honestly a great place to be. Felt very safe and entertained! But it also wasn’t this strong of a storm. Praying everyone is safe during this hurricane 🙏🏾
stay away from windows !!! Anything outside , if you have outside doors or windows .
We cut our Disney trip short. Just got home early this morning. I was telling my mom she experienced back to back hurricanes as a kid in Connecticut. The flooding was unimaginable then. NC mountains were demolished here, I can’t imagine going through another storm this soon.
We’re here in Tampa! Just going to hunker down! We have all the things - hurricane shutters, generator, grill, 2 full propane tanks, food, water, fans charged, flashlights, extra phone battery packs, got cash, will fill everything up with water and plenty of TP!….the list goes on. We’re ready! We’re definitely anxious! 😢

Praying for you guys!
If you have freezer space fill up jugs, bowls, containers with drinkable water. It will keep your freezer cold longer and as it defrost if you need water to drink it is there.
If you leave you place unattended, put a coin on top of a frozen cup of water. When you come back, you will have an indicator of how long the power was out.
I would make that easier and do what I do all summer, take a sip off a water bottle & pop them in the freezer. That way they have room to expand. I do that so my water stays cold, with a frozen center (esp good with Sports bottles). But for a storm, it is like having easy ice packs, but drinkable!
We stayed at Shades of Green during Ian…we the greens on the golf course flooded to where you could go swimming! It was crazy! The banging all night during Ian’s impact was crazy! And it came through Orlando directly. Never will forget it. But the parks were dead the next day! Plus beautiful weather! Stay safe Dev!

I'm a boston boy, i live east of you now. Ian was my first one and ya, the people who just moved here, donno what is about to happen. I'm no stranger to weather events, and Ian surprised me and i think this one is gonna be similar. I'm stocked up and intend to try and get a few things tonight or tomorrow, too. As one staying in Florida to tank this beast of a storm, I’m hoping the best for you, and all of Florida, especially in Tampa.
I understand how you feel. I was sheltered in Cabana Bay in September 2022 and Ian was my first hurricane. The airport closed the day(a Wednesday)I was supposed to fly out, but Cabana Bay let me stay in my room for two more nights. I've been through tornadoes in Chicago, but that experience was crazy. Southwest Floridian here. It’s gonna hit us hard, my town just got out of the cone of the storm’s path so relived about that. But the storm surge is gonna be the thing that hits hard like Ian and Irma did. I recently left my college to head home since I go to USF Tampa and immediately when the storm was announced to be a cat 4 hurricane(before cat 5), the university closed and ordered all of us to head home so left on Saturday with my best friend (had to drive to Gainesville tho to pick up my cousin at UF). So hopefully everyone that will be impacted by Milton is safe when it makes landfall on Wednesday(hopefully it weakens to a cat 3 or lower hurricane)

I live on the outskirts of Tampa away from the water and not in an evacuation zone. Also my area has underground power lines. Keep in mind yes it’s a category 5 but it’s a small storm which means it can weaken quickly when it goes through wind shears. Also the intense winds in this storm are only like a 10 mile radius given how small it is.
What about it supposed to hit that wind shear and explode in size?
@@RyanNodal305 I also live in the outskirts of Tampa and mot in a flood zone either. And our power lines are also all undground. Just a little nervous about a huge oak tree in my backyard 😒
I've only ever been hurricane adjacent; and it just so happened to be during my first ever visit to Disney World. It was during Hurricane ANDREW's attack on Florida. We had rented a car for the trip & while leaving WDW at park close, the traffic was insane. At first we thought it was just Disney traffic, and were shocked the park could have been THAT busy; but, when we turned on the radio, we figured out it was evacuees escaping the storm. I felt so bad for everyone trapped in that storm. We did worry that we might not be able to fly home, but we lucked out. I pray for everyone down south.

Hey Dev. Great to hear that you are prepared for the storm. But storms are crazy. Keep in touch when you can. Don't worry about being in the parks this week, take care of the fishies, yes, fill the bathtub, fill extra bottles and pots and pans. Once the storm passes, you can report. Take care.
Stay safe Dev and family. We first moved to Florida several years ago and withing 6 months hurricane Sally hit us direct on. It was way more than I imagined and cause so much damage....scary.

I’m here in Texas when we got hit with hurricane Burrell we went for almost a week with no electricity, but I’m also a Camping fanatic. I’ve learned over the years get gallon jugs of water. Put them in your freezer ice packs put them in your freezer. it will help the food in the freezer. Stay cold longer, if you have Camping lanterns, make sure you have plenty of batteries you have a camping stove you can still continue to cook if you need any other helpful hints please just let me know. Please be safe. You’re all in our prayers.

I think the recent storms over the last few weeks have people on edge. Hopefully, everyone is just overreacting. My father is a little disabled now, so when I flew down to Sarasota two weeks ago, I helped my mom put water tubes and sandbags around their house. Best of luck to you and Bianca. Stay safe.
