what if b was 1 what would you do then? I have a problem where I have ended up with 1+ or - 12 times the square root of 3@@brianmclogan

did you get 2 radical 6 from 4.6, also why 4.6 and not another paired factor?

So if I have x^2+6=0 , is it the same process??

The answers would be imaginary numbers, so with the formula you would get + or - √-6 which you can write as + or - i√ 6
