You are great interviewers, and from all of the interviews with David Allen that I have watched, I think this is the only one that goes right to what is at the core of this methodology. I truly think GTD is a tool for practical spirituality. Thank you so much. I wished you did more interviews in English. You are awesome. And by the way, I feel this was a conversation more than an interview. That is one of the things that made it so good.

Excellent interview. I discovered David in 2003. Yet I have to retrain myself in the martial art of GTD every day.

I dont often leave youtube comments but I had to on this video. I have watched it a few times in the last few months. It is easily one of the best interviews I have seen. So much insight into how GTD works-- not just the outer game of making lists, capturing etc, but the inner game of thinking affirmationally and how the mind actually is activated to get things done by using the GTD methodology. The insights on spirituality were so profound, i wasnt expecting that from David also. Thanks for this interview guys! And thanks for not just asking David some pishy questions such as what are his favourite GTD apps. 5 Stars ;)

    SUMMARY
This is not natural for us, but it’s not rocket science.
We are building in a Mental Framework, and employing an Outer Brain.
    25:00 - the 5 I’s
“Nothing is hard and fast in this, other than the principles themselves. Feel free to rearrange.”
“If you haven’t arranged the next action step, then you are not appropriately engaged and the thing will continue to Bug you.”
Handling the mundane opens up the space for the profound. Not in reverse.
Much of the things we must do are that which we will not get a pat on the back for, or fulfill divine potential.
“Outcome thinking”: keep the end in mind - what would success look like in this task/project?
Inner and Outer: “I was much more interested in the inner world than the outer world, but I had to pay the rent.”
“I’m an any-time type of person. Some days I’m a morning person, night person, late-morning person, etc.
Taking afternoon naps has become valuable.”
“Perspective is the slipperiest and most valuable commodity on this planet...build orienting maps.”
This is a Life-Art, and Anyone can fall off the train.
The difference is maturity. There comes a point when life’s anomalies do not throw one off, but further solidifies the routine and commitment.
Keep it very simple and consistent: whether it’s an email or someone stopping you in the hallway, it’s Input.
    1:18:00 - 1:36:00 Spiritual Discussion
1:56:30 - Jordan Peterson notion: clean your room and get things off your mind before setting profound goals. You’ll just overwhelm yourself further, and you might lack the maturity to set a good goal.

Awesome interview! I am not someone who dives down paths where I can't prove whats what properly, so the spiritual stuff is interesting but not really for me, but it was nice to hear him talk about it and get an insight into how he 'see's the world'. I understand that 'level above/connected/part of something bigger' feeling, because of MDMA, I guess for me it's just chemicals created by the brain, but I would be very happy if tomorrow some research proved something else was going on :)

Ok so I heard about "Getting things done" from reading about Marcy Turk who is a higher up at Sirius Radio and the Howard Stern Show. Anyway, I have heard that she is very meticulous and systems oriented. Some say its bad, some say its good. Obviously she is rich so ....
Anyway, I ordered the book for 3 bucks and can't wait to read it. I used to be an executive but I quit that job mainly bc I felt as if I was under compensated and always swamped. My job now is not an executive job, not even management, but I actually make the same salary. So I am not swamped with work. I basically clock in and clock out without losing sleep over stale projects and unanswered questions (emails). SO BASICALLY I WANT TO READ THIS BOOK BEFORE I ENTER THE MANAGEMENT WORLD AGAIN.
I am hoping I can get something out of this book. Has anyone had their life change after reading it?

hey ya'll this very interesting. david allen definitely has a lot of great incites! Thank you Mr Allen! I agree with all of this except the chanting of sanskrit mantras (words like "om") etc... btw, supposedly "om" means "source" or "supreme" and "ik unkar" supposedly means "one god"... but if you don't know what the phrases are? why say them over and over in agreement? many mantras are like "om namah shivaya" which basically means "I surrender to shiva the one true god"... so they are prayers... but to what spirit? soem say oh well shiva comes from hebrew seven that means complete ayda yada... but there are tons of idols for shiva... are you praying to a demon idol? if you are aware of the spiritual world, you know there are many types of spirits... a good litmus test is if they have a problem with THE HOLY SPIRIT, then they are not good and they really don't care about you... they are against the lover of your soul, the one true God. I think it's wise to test this with believing and agreeing with Jesus Christ the Messiah the Son of God Yeshua Hamashiach... when your heart is inline with Him and practice that by obeying and repentance, all other deceitful spirits will eventually not want to mess with you. when you make the decision to surrender and accept Jesus' love and follow Him, your senses will be more open to what His still small voice sounds like and what it has to say to you and all other thoughts not aligned with Him will be discarded more easily or not even heard at all.

David Allen sounds like a self-loathing American. He lauds the global while relishing in the uniqueness of Holland and the Dutch. He seems like a confused man. Theres no such thing as a 'global citizen'; you are only part of the nation that your ancestors created - you're a guest everywhere else. He should refer to it as 'global guest' because 99% of the world would never allow or consider Allen a 'fellow citizen'.
