The fact that we all thought he actually did it, shows how good the director and Anthony Starr have made Homelander look as villainous as possible
It's amazing how so many people still don't realize he's a villain.
Nope. It shows how much of a cheap fakeout this is, trying to get a big reaction without actually making the sacrifices that are requred for a big reaction. Exactly like when a character dies but you know they're not really dead, so the purpose of "killing" the character in the first place is gone as we feel nothing because we expect a fakeout. And when they actually kill a character still expect a fakeout. Maybe hollywood never heard the story about the boy who cried wolf.

Most interesting part of this moment is that you can see the fantasy just ended up making Homelander feel bad. It's why he doesn't actually do it. Homelander wants so badly to be loved; he's not interested in mass murdering a bunch of randos, outside of his darkest impulses, which make him sad and that he's deeply ashamed off. The sad face with the glowing red eyes says it all.

Angering a superhuman with insecurities is probably one of the worst mistakes you could make
I mean there’s ultimately a reason he didn’t do this, he would have lost everything, the facade would have been over and he probably would have been hunted down and killed (The Boys superhero’s are implied to be weaker than the full might of the military) having died despised by everyone.
@@shady8045 Where was that implied? The military can obviously handle low tier Supes but they definitely can't stop Homelander, that's kind of the point and it is implied many times. Stillwell herself said on season 1 there's not a weapon on Earth that can kill him.

@@berlin4103 Almost true. There are some examples of powerful monarchs and people that did not abuse their power, although rare. Plus a responsible and fair king/queen makes for boring history, so your less likely to hear about it. Humans are not perfect, but not everyone will use their power maliciously.

Anthony Starr played this character so well...every scene that Homelander is in gives so many uncanny vibes...you can feel it that he is on the verge of snapping every time something doesn't go his way. No other Supe has made me feel the same way and honestly that's a good thing because the worst one of them is Homelander
At first this seemed like a one-off fantasy moment of him losing control. After the season 3 finale, this is foreshadowing.

This makes me realize Homelander had a lot of luck the last season. It s only a matter of time before he finds himself way over his head in a moment like this and snaps completely. It s like he doesn't even realize he s saying everything he s not supposed to say in this scene.
When i saw that i thought now what, there is no way the series cant finish after this but he was day dreaming so i guess we still have the show for a while and he probable ends up doing this for real near the very end.

It's even worse when you consider the further away you were, the more likely you got mowed down by his eye moving just an inch left or right.
Just wrapped up season 2 the other night. I honestly haven't been this jaw dropped since No Russian in Modern Warfare 2 or Snape killing Dumbledore in the Harry Potter books. I actually feel genuinely scared of Homelander every time he shows up in a scene, which is crazy because I also genuinely feel like things are gonna be alright when Superman appears in any medium that's not Injustice. But even Injustice Superman doesn't give me chills quite like Homelander does.
His facial expression when he is killing everyone pure enjoyment and evil then when he stops he looks like he’s so broken sad and confused, THAT is acting . I’m new to The Boys only just finished it but Homelander is the best on screen character I have seen for a long long time 👏
God I hope before this series ends after like every bad shit he did gets exposed and when he has nothing to lose he just goes on a rampage before butcher finally kills him with maybe a weapon he’s been preparing for a while now to finally kill him.

I’m pretty sure it’s just a bright red laser coming out both his eyes. He can also adjust the heat of it which is why he didn’t light stormfront a blaze when they were getting freaky. But yea no crazy stuff it’s just a super hot laser beam.
