I don't think I have ever seen 10 meters so hot like it has been in the last couple of years. That radio is a monster. Another great video Walt. Thanks so much.

Wow, How did I miss you? I was on 10-meters yesterday and today. Great radio. The 100+ watts is great, plus the Stryker looks so cool. I'm still rocking the G90 and QT80 (which I've gotten 97 watts on). Some of the guys in my radio club were a bit snobbish about export radios. However, when they started seeing the results I've been getting, I've been changing hearts and minds! I'd rather have two or three exports than one of those brand name fancy radios. I just have a lot more fun and feel like I've really accomplished something with my G90 (or QT80) and a homebrew antenna. It's more in the spirit of ham radio's earlier days when you had to make your own gear. Thanks again Walt for inspiring me and expanding my radio knowledge. I hope to talk to you on the airwave soon! 73...Hugh...KN6KNB

That's a very sexy radio, Walt. Congratulations on your new toy. It doesn't seem to be available anywhere yet on this side of the pond. Not that I'd want one. I have my FT-891 for 100 watts operation and I already own too many of these "export" radios. Give me a G90 with 100 watts and I'd buy one.
Wouldn't it be depleting your 20 Ah battery pretty quick when on max power?
The 10m band propagation plus the EU contest provided from some good DX over the week-end. For me it has been Indonesia, Suriname and French Guyana among the best QSOs. Would have liked to catch you though. Best 73s!

I will warn you about the antenna. While it is fairly wide band, it's not as wide band as the sirio mag mount, but, keep an eye on it for water infiltration. Mine was showing a high SWR one time and when I too a loot at it, inside those little dots where the led light is visible, I saw like an inch of standing water, inside. Just something to keep an eye on.

Great video, Walt. The radio looks cool and seems pretty badass. I never Heard of Stryker in my Cb days but that was in the late 60's early 70's. 4 watts was the legal out put then. I had a QSO with some Air Force guys in Hawaii one afternoon pushing my full 3.5 watts!! I hope your wife is well and also I hope for a nice Spring as you're back up here with we New Englanders.

Great contacts walt !! I have a local buy me with the older version of that radio. Sounds nice on AM . He uses a old 10 amp power supply with a big heatsink on back like the radio .It does run radio just fine. I think it is 15 amp surge . About the same on 10 meters last I was out . But was early sun rise and England coming in to NY . later as sun set is VK land for me and west coast . I have gotten Alaska on 10 meters. Nice you got 20AH LiFePO4 battery. With that radio you do not need that peak and tune mod . The ones I hurd done that way sound distorted on AM. It is loud modulation . It does not sound crisp and clear. I see you got great tune on that antenna . Scott's Radios does sell that one. He sets them up the correct way . I got my QT 60 from him and it does great !! Covers the same just 60 watt max. 741 got a QT 60 like mine and did a great video on that one. When the weather gets into spring take that radio to the beach with that 20 AH battery and put counterpoise in salt water. Will be Awesome !! 73

Hi Walt. I think that a possible market has been missed by the big 3 Ham radio manufacturers. I think that there could be a demand for a single band 100 watt 6 meter radio. I know that HF+6M+VHF/UHF radios are common, but I prefer separate all mode transceivers for 6m and 2m.

I have to thank you Walt
Back in April 2024 you issued a challenge of sorts - why haven't you upgraded your license (video title - Ham Radio Is Not Hard)
I took Tech and General in a single day in 2019 but life happened and I didn't get on the air until mid 2023
When I got back into radio in 2023 I felt it would take far too much study time to acquire the knowledge to pass an extra exam (an odd thing considering that a desire to learn morse code is what brought me back into radio)
Just 24 days after your challenge I tested and passed the Extra exam.
Even though I largely memorized the question pool, the exposure to the questions was itself a good education and a springboard into experiments/trial and error with different antennas and an (as yet - someday) unmet intention to build a radio from parts
    73 and many Blessings

I was thinking you said the Stryker SR-955HPC+ is a 100 watt radio. I looked them up on the Stryker website and it said AM 15 watts/FM 55 watts/SSB 60 watts. Who or what vendor soups them up to 100 watts ? I know about several of the vendors who sell and modify the export radios but I don’t think I saw any claims about souping them up to 100 watts. I’ve met owners of the Stryker SR-955HPC who claimed their radio put out 100 watts as well as some other RUclipsrs. Thanks, Jack Daniel / KF5SGC / Richardson, Tx.

Does this radio fit in a standard CB radio slot in a tractor? It could be an optical illusion but it looks big. I drive a 23' KW T680 with the standard cb radio insert up top with regular CB radio plugs/cables. I just ordered this to replace my cobra 29ltd so presumably I would just connect this radio into the same slot the cobra was in. I keep seeing videos of this radio being used as a base station so I don't know. What say you?
