Good timing... I just started into a buddy's 04 600RR literally last night. The first hurdle I came across may be worth noting. Crank-No start because the fuel pump wasn't priming. Realized he had an aftermarket ignition switch that was sending a full 12v to the ECU. ECU no likey. It only wants 9v, theft deterrent thing. The textbook fix is a zener diode but I made it happy using a circuit with an LM317, a couple of caps, and two resistors. It's not stupid if it works.
I will watch out for that, although from first glance all of those pieces are still stock. It is insane some of the things you find on other people's bikes. Especially when they're old, but you're absolutely right if it works it works!
I just picked up a 06 cbr 600, the wire harness is a rats nest looks like someone did some LEDs an someone might have just yanked them off, cut wires spliced an bunch of BS. I want to just remove the harnes an rebuild it but ive never done it before so iam afraid ill eff it up, so weighing my options soend $300 on new harness or spend hrs on end figuring out this one. My first streetbike only rode dirtbikes in the past.
I think with some patience and time building a harness is a great experience! A good skill that not many people have, that being said, if you can find a cheap harness ready to go that would be much easier and faster.
@@workingclasscustoms i want to do it myself but id also like to ride before summers over lol, probably gonna do it myself tho an well it was bought at a good price so i wont be so butt hurt if i end up jacking it all up. Ive got the manual so ive got no excuses right. Stay safe brother
@@wolverinebear5357 if you watch the 2nd and 3rd parts of this build I rebuilt this one, it was my first time doing anything electrical besides plugging and unplugging if that gives you any hope lol. Hope you get it done and get to ride that beast!!
I have a cbr600f4i, a 2001, and the most difficult thing right now is wire management, the wires for the lights and the push start are on the left side, where your front vent covers should be, and I don't know how to manage them or hide them because they are also wrapped in electrical tape because I used it as a daily bike. This means the wires are quite stiff, but they are just hanging exposed, and I don't know what to do with them besides keep them hanging, do you have any tips?
There is weather proof flexible electrical tape available that can often help with more flexible wires. That and zip ties is usually how I get things to stay where I want them. Or most hardware style stores will also have wire loom available.
@@workingclasscustoms I will definitely look into that tape thank you, do you just let your wires hang once they are tapped or are they ziptied to anything like the frame or fairings?
I usually ziptie to something nearby, either frame or if it's up around the forks you can ziptie to a fork tube as long as it won't impede the suspension travel.

That’s a hot bodies undertail kit. I had a 2001 f4i!
Good to know! The question now is whether or not they came plug and play...
@@workingclasscustoms from my memory that would be a no. You had to cut wires and make it work
@vr46nh69bs11 good to know! We'll get it figured out

watch@23:25 you pulled a used air filter out over your open throttle bodies.
Do believe throttle was closed so all flaps are closed. If there is a better way to do that please let me know.
