Oh. Fancy seeing you here. Totally agree. One of the great skills of tracking was getting the timing just right. Another classic in a similar vein to this is "fumble.xm"
He didn't. Every other his output known to me is usual aggressive techno pitiful tracker piece. It's almost like, somebody logged into his mind, created Guitar Slinger, logged off and left poor Jogeir in his techno mindvibe. This song is not only tracker/Amiga creative, it is one of the best songs created ever, rivaling many Beatles, Floyd, Genesis, MJ, you name it, songs. It has 90% perfect control over which instruments to use (who would use a flute in an Amiga tracker song, cmon), rhythm to use, mood to create etc. The song is great, one of 30 top pieces created by human civilisation Id say, but its background is suspicious.
@@maciektrybuszewski9964 many of his other popular songs were "borrowed". Considering his habit of making up a new song title and signing it with his name without crediting the original, I agree that it's unlikely that Guitar Slinger would be an entirely original creation. That said, I love the arrangements, and no matter where the musical ideas come from I love listening to his particular renditions.

This sounds like a band playing for a friend, probably the bass player, as a gift for being such a comrade to them in their journey. They get in the car, drive over to his place, and start playing this tune. It sounds awesome, but then the tone gets serious as they come to terms with the loss of their friend as they finish at his tombstone.

Damn... This takes me back... I'll never forget when I first heard of MODs. I couldn't get my hands on enough of them. And this song was the one that made me fall in love with them. It wasn't until MP3s came out that I was able to experience that euphoria again...
First time I listened to this it was a module from some UK magazine with a Amiga disc always included (Amiga Format?). It was truly awesome... I really like Jogeir, and this show's of his musical skills really good. The samples are amazing and he probably knew how to use them in what way before he sampled them... made the finishing touches in Protracker (or some other program, OctaMED was around then as I remember with better tuning but still sound/protracker compatibility)... I rank Jogeir high with the other musical geniuses out there on the C64 for example.... Although at the time I still listened to lots of SID music, Jogeir was among my favorite Amiga musicians! I think I have him still on Facebook! :-)
What words I'm thinking on at 0:14 to 0:33: "And with it came a new computer music known as the ModTracker. These were music files contains samples of different sounds and then the associated music information. The original ModTracker used a four track system designed around the Amiga sound chip, but later versions eventually added many more tracks for more sophisticated sound cards."
This was the tune that got me into Amiga tracker music specifically. I was aware of FearOfDark's music, but I had not explored the Amiga era yet. It was like 3 years ago since I discovered this track, I think, in a compilation made by a RUclipsr named "off1k". This was the tune that really hooked me in.
Very well composed. One of the better ones. I used to make tunes but had I only continued to learn all the functions of the tracker sw. Bend, the ecco/reverb tricks etc.
I heard this tune today playing snooker Pro on Android. I could swear I've heard it from something like schools and colleges TV in the 70s but it came out in the 90s. Argghhh. Why do I know this tune?
Yeah, the stuff you can do with 4 PCM channels and a whole lot of sample modification is awesome. The trick is having good samples. This is clearly Jogeir himself sampling guitar chords (or having someone else play them) and using said samples to the fullest.
Oh gosh a heart on a comment 4 years ago, i did not know much about the Amiga at the time but very impressive what people can do with just 4 PCM channels and limited memory
This man wasn't even 20 when he made this. He had to know how to compose music, use an Amiga computer, make music on an Amiga tracker and make copies of it on a floppy disk. And these days some people are too lazy to even search something on Google
Was this used on NRK TV once back in the day? It sounds like it could have been used in a sort of "images of woodland streams in between programmes" thing back in the early '90s. Jogeir? Do you know?
