Absolutely. You are 100% correct. I just didn't bother with this run due to already knowing the guts were wired correctly from the previous installation. Thanks brother!
did the same thing with my zakk wylde les paul, swapped the emgs for sd emtys, love it. gonna swap the emgs in my dean old skull v for the ahb2 blackouts.
Its very cool that you offer info to others, its really appreciated here, we love to play music and gear but like you say it sucks when people get EGO mania and put down others when they need info
Awesome. I was hoping nothing had to be done with the wiring. How do you find these pickups clean-wise? Is the neck pickup crystal or have any slight crunch to them?
Could. But I would have ended up with 8 holes totally visible afterwards where the screws were to hold the rings in. Wouldn't bother most people but does bother me, so rings stayed. Thanks buddy!
Hey there I just subscribed so there's that Now can you tell your opinion of the blackouts in comparison to the EMGs and so you have a preference between them because I've got several guitars with the 81/85s but no SD Blackouts and I am dieing to try them I'm beginning to question if I even like my EMGs Thanks
I'm no expert, nor a pro musician... but my 2 cents - they both have their sweet spots in different genres of music I think. I do love the Blackouts a bit more as they sound less sterile and more organic while not losing out too much of aggression. \m/
hey could i get some help? i just tried to do this with seven string versions of these blackout pickups and when i was done clipping them in there was no sound or response from the pickups. did i do something wrong?
Hey there GGG! I watched this video and figured I should ask you a question I've had for quite awhile. If I wanted to swap out the EMG pickups that shipped with my seven-string guitar, the process is basically the same, right? My Schecter Damien Platinum 7 needs a more aggressive tone really bad.
If your Damien came with an EMG set that is ACTIVE, then you can swap that out with another EMG Active set or Seymour's Blackout set without tempering with wires and pots etc.
hey, how can i change pickups from a schecter hell raiser extreme with a floyd rose? does it make a difference? idk I'm gonna get black outs nd have no idea how to do this or if i need to do extra stuff. solder stuff or something, idk any advice?
If your Hellraiser has EMG actives like 81/85/60, you can just pull those out and blackouts will just fit in using the existing pots and connectors. Nothing to solder. If you have passive pickups, you will have some work to do.
Hey GGG, I have a schecter blackjack with Seymour Duncan Active Blackouts AHB-1, and I want to put active emg's, 60/81, Can i do the same procedure as you did in this video, just swap them?
Yep. If output sounds thin afterwards, you may have to flip the 3 pin connector. But you don't need to change pots and wiring. Should be able to leave as is.
We need you to make a proper demo of these pickups

old video...but I would have bought that guitar as I've been looking for one for years

thank you. hopefully it was helpful... all i hope for. rock on!
Considering swapping the blackouts in my Monarkh for EMGs. I'm assuming it will be just as easy, hate soldering pickups in, it's such a hassle.
I want to do the same, the PUs are solderless in the jackson ?

You should have more subscribers, this is such a great channel.
Yamaha THR10. Good lil' amp for sure. Does a lot of things well.
Could. But I would have ended up with 8 holes totally visible afterwards where the screws were to hold the rings in. Wouldn't bother most people but does bother me, so rings stayed. Thanks buddy!

thank you Gareth. I do appreciate each and everyone subscribing regardless of number. Thank you for your time watching. |m|
Shouldn't you also check to see the other pickup is not responding when trying the selector switch?
Can the pickups be installed without the pickup ring?

would you recomend a floating bridge for an ambitious average player?
Wait, so you can use the whole emg solderless system with the blackouts? Nice
That's what I'm wondering too.
I switched my blackouts with emg and now it is way to hot ?
That's what I'm doing too... Just waiting for wires
