Hey David, I started my first hive 15 days ago. Watching your videos and sitting with my bees is all I want to do now. Your passion for bee keeping and life is inspirational. Thank you.
I am liking your coffee talks more over time. I am not as outgoing and excited as you are naturally, but I do enjoy seeing how much you are. Don’t apologize or edit that part of you out of your videos. You give great information and have a great attitude and spirit. I appreciate your insight on bees and life!
Hi David I was handed a bee hive and a package of bees in May, I had no experience or education on bee keeping so I’m glad I found your channel now I know what to look for and I’m ready to open the hive for the first time. Thank you for the info.
Hey David, thanks to everything you and your family are doing for all of us especially newbies like myself. I believe your standards are inline with how I believe, perhaps that’s part of why I enjoy your channel. Thanks and God bless!
Thank you David, you really put so much effort into beekeeping and beyond. Dealing with the toxic environment it’s not an easy thing to manage. Thanks for putting it out there. Happy Beekeeping
Hey I wanted to tell you the heartfelt life lesson of toxicity and The question " it depends " was pretty cool of you. that makes me want to watch you even more because, it shows what kind of a person you really are. so thank you for everything that you do
I find your two word sentence very re-assuring. I give presentations regularly to clubs and bee schools and I have frequently remarked that the answer to almost any question regarding bees begins with "It depends". And it is very true. Every situation is different. Even two hives in the same environment can be different and the reason is "it depends". You're also right that it can apply to most of life's experiences. Thanks for validating my responses.
I enjoy your humble approach to teaching. I especially enjoyed your life philosophy. I'm not really a good club type of person so I have not sought out a bee club to join. You fill that gap for me. Thanks information
Thank you so much for the videos!! There has been a couple of times that I was not sure what to do with my bees and I would look through your videos and as you have said Cowboy Up! And it helps me to get back and get to the need of the bees! Thanks so much, and I plan on getting some of your classes. Thanks again!!!
Thank you David for your kind words and your kind thoughts you are 100% that people do need some attention and sometimes it helps a lot and sometimes it turns around and kicks you back but you’re a better person always have a good night Charlie PA
I'm in southern Delaware. I have one hive that came from a small fall swarm. I wintered them in 2 -5 frame nuc boxes. I put a deep 5 frame on end of May. At that time, I saw a handful of shb's under the top cover. Last week I checked the top box and there were no shbs anywhere! I looked between the the middle and top- not a sign! 🎉
I've found a hive journal seems to work best. Track observations of what the hive is doing and make a record of the things you've done to the hive. Highlight dates and hive name. Works best for us
I love, love, love your videos! Thanks for all the expertise. I’d like to see a video on honey gates. I got another 35 gallons of honey this year and am not happy with the gates I have. When the bucket is full, the pressure pushes some over the tops of the gates or the drips after closing slow down the process. Considering a small tank if it makes sense to get a high quality system.
I noticed washboarding after a robbing attempt. My partner speculated that they're washing the robbing pheromones off. That sounds plausible enough to me
Pollen patties, I cut the patties into 1/2" strips and spread them over the top of the frames. The Bees feed from both sides of the strip and consume it before hive beetles get to it.
Hey David, my hive is staying to be overrun with small hive beetles!!! I am using 3 it 4 beetle traps and there are sore beetles in them but not many. Last inspection i killed about 15 on the first frame! What can i do? I am using 2 deeps and a super and they are well populated.
Great question, you should consider asking it on my livestream this Thursday night at 7pm central time. The answer could help so many others. Here's the link: ruclips.net/user/livejAT5M7FJXTs
Doubt it, as it will be weakened by time it reaches down to the ground and where your hives are.

Hi David ….this years spring honey was dark even the capping was black and last years honey was blond and the capping was white…any thoughts in Riverside CA
I have a question about smokers : I have tried the pellets ( of several different types ) , burlap , pine straw and wood shavings . They don’t seem to be consistent enough for me . I watched a video concerning a smoker that works on the “ vape type “ . I heard that they are a bit expensive but I would like to get it a try . Do you know of any sources that sell the electronic smoker kits ? Thanks
What works for me (excessive maybe) packing paper fist size just enough to light as a starter. Then one timberweed twist (dollar store) pack with dry pine straw after it’s lit and flaming. About 1/3 cup of smoker pellets and then finish packing with pine straw. It lasts well over 3 hours.
It would be infinitely more interesting if you let the bees live in the tree as it is, in 3 levels. Sure, bees in trees live longer. They manage themselves, swarm when they want and so on. I let my bees do mostly what they want and my colonies are pretty successful.

I have some hive bodies that are/were dipped in wax and some that weren't. The only "scrubbing" going on is on the waxed hive bodies. The others have stain and urethane on exterior. Maybe I should get rid of the stained.
I love your enthusiasm so much! Please don't dull down : the world needs more people like you!

Is Finis your first name? My dad's name was Finis.
Love love your videos. People can drag us too but we just ignore them. You are wonderful. Thank you for being great.
You’re so kind
This was an answer to prayer! You are such a great teacher. Loved the raw unedited! lol
Thank you so much!
Loved your coffee time, David. Great content as always 😊
Thanks so much!
Good point about toxicity in people. I like it depends when thinking about people. Live is raw and raw is human…
You spoke perfectly about treatment/treatment free. I’m with you on that one.
Well thank you so much
Thank you David for your kind words and your kind thoughts you are 100% that people do need some attention and sometimes it helps a lot and sometimes it turns around and kicks you back but you’re a better person always have a good night Charlie PA

Good word Pastor David. Having church on the Long Lane.
Encouragement never hurts 😉
You are great!!
Thanks for watching.

Thanks David and Sheri. 😊 good livestream last night see ya Saturday live stream
Thanks Brian. See you Saturday
I noticed washboarding after a robbing attempt. My partner speculated that they're washing the robbing pheromones off. That sounds plausible enough to me
I do not see robbers sitting out on front of the hive though.
Pollen patties, I cut the patties into 1/2" strips and spread them over the top of the frames. The Bees feed from both sides of the strip and consume it before hive beetles get to it.
Cool.

whats the longest to wait to inspect or gather the honey?
Great question, you should consider asking it on my livestream this Thursday night at 7pm central time. The answer could help so many others. Here's the link: ruclips.net/user/livejAT5M7FJXTs
Thanks for your time and information. May I ask,
Will my smoke from my fireplace upset the bees.
With many thanks
Doubt it, as it will be weakened by time it reaches down to the ground and where your hives are.
Hi David ….this years spring honey was dark even the capping was black and last years honey was blond and the capping was white…any thoughts in Riverside CA
Isn't that amazing. They just found a different or new nectar source.
I live in ns Canada controversy with insulation wrap I was thinking of using house wrap ?
Great question for my livestream tonight at 7pm central time. Here's the link: ruclips.net/user/livew20kzB2itrQ
If you use a push in queen cage, how long can she stay in there and the workers will continue to care for her and not try to supercede her?
A while, but a week is enough, and they may try to raise queen cells. They also try to dig under it to free her.

You may have seen me testing some in a video or two, but I love my traditional smoker.
I've switched to a piece of junk mail and use dried grass from mowing the lawn. Cheapest best smoke that I have found.
The commercial hive boxes are not thick enough to have bees survive.you can make your own.thicker wood.more insulation.

Sure, bees in trees live longer. They manage themselves, swarm when they want and so on. I let my bees do mostly what they want and my colonies are pretty successful.
Glad that's working for you. Bees in trees never to good here in Illinois from year to year. Mites usually get them.
