I am from NE and want to add that separatist of NE(Abrahamics/Maoists) refer to India to the west as “Mainland India" as if we are some people who are not supposed to be part of India. The thing is; Akhand Bharat to the east is The Mainland because it is the region where Hinduism is most populous. Mainland Hinduism is NE India(Buddhism is not a religion seperate from Hinduism)

One of my friend was from Pithoragarh district of Uttarakhand and he once told me before China's conquest of Tibet they used to do commerce with Tibetan people and most probably his ancestors came from Tibet too. Here is an interesting thing about Bhotias of our state - from those who live in Garhwal region of Uttarakhand follow Buddhism but in Kumaon region they follow Hinduism. During the medieval period, garo priests used to do the ceremonies there, not the hindu priests. After adoption of hindu religion by the local rulers, this temple was converted into a hindu one.

These are not races my friend. Linguistic groups do not represent an ethnicity. Its good that NE promotes it’s tourism and culture via this so called ‘tribal heritage’, ‘headhunters’ etc. But it is not indicative of the whole region. There are various pastoral communities, who don’t share that history. For example Assamese, they are mostly farmers, others are jhum cultivators for generations, for example Bengalis. Are you gonna say Bengali as a ‘tribe’? For me there are only 5 states in the NE with a very different cultural root than that of mainland India. Assam and Tripuri culture is very similar to mainland Indian culture. Manipur is heavily influenced by Hinduism, but yet they maintain that princely state heritage and history. The other areas were all tribal and hilly areas, the map of ahom kingdom is Assam. After subjugating ahom(assam), the Britishers charged towards jaintia hills, khasi hill, garo hills, NC hills & manipur, mikir hills etc. And lastly tripura, these tribal areas along with assam(ahom) was deemed as one British administrative zone and they named it after ahom(assam). The tribals areas were put under "partially excluded areas" where indians without British permission wouldn't be able to enter. Even today in assam, there are still two tribal areas called as dima hasao(NC hills) and mikir hills(karbi anglong) where the Assamese and outsiders cannot settle or buy land, the Assamese language isn't used here. And the people are governed by autonomous rule and not by assam government.
In the past numerous times assam has tried to impose it's dominance or control over tribal areas , similar to what's happening in mizoram and manipur. The mizo government is trying to gain control over lai, mara and chakma autonomous areas and manipur over the tribal areas of it's place. This led to states being carved out again and again. Even right now, the karbis and dima hasao people aren't happy with Assamese policies to establish control on the region

I don't know when it started. But I'll try to answer how it happened. Firstly, it didn't happen only because of the British - yes, they made it worse. Let me give you an analogy. Suppose there's a poor guy who's from upper caste and there's a rich guy who's also from upper caste. The rich guy won't treat the poor guy same way as he would do to other rich people. Why? Because of socio-economic differences. And this creates a hierarchy in which rich are treated fairly and poor badly (doesn't matter if they're an upper caste Hindu or lower). So, in the same way, people back then who got rich suppressed the poor for generations, so that the poor people remain poor and lower rank in social-economic hierarchy. Therefore, the people who remained poor for generations got a label, dalit or achhut, by rich.

Here, most of the tribes are having mongoloid facial features and they have mixed genes. Sir, I would like to say that the tribes of North eastern regions are feeling insecure in their own lands many illegal Bangladeshis are taking our own lands we tribal people are becoming minority in our own land just as in the case of Tripura, we tribal peoples feel that government of India donot respect us they are wanting us to come under Bangladeshi rule and other states people are becoming more in terms of population in our own state of Assam. The demography of the state is changing and will harm the tribal people on ground level as many of the tribal people are uneducated in worldly knowledge. The tribal communities of Assam feel disrespected by other communities in their own lands we feel like puppets used by governments for their own benefits not really understanding the peoples demands. We feel we are under dictatorial rule in our own land. I personally think anyone can come and go in any state of India but by destroying the native peoples culture, heritages is not acceptable and moreover the Demographic changes is too fast for many tribal people on ground level. We tribal people want more states in NE Indian region protected under Constitution of India and people of India so that we can prosper at faster rates with our own tribal leaders who understand our tribal people.

Mongolian ethnicity, refer to people who have facial and colour similarities of the Mongolian, the word Mongolian ethnicity does not refer to the mongols, the word has been used mainly, because of the easy analytic reference to a type of ethnicity. The swath of geography from North East Pakistan all the way to to East of polynesia, Canada and the whole of Americas , down to the tha south east asia were of the mongol ethnicity. India has aryan, dravidian and mogolian ethnicity. Indian continent had many kingdoms, it was not a monogeneous nation until the independence in 1947. North East Indians are mongol ethnicity, the North West and Central India are of Aryans ethnicity. While North of Pakistan has a mix of caucasian and mongol ethnicity. None of the ethnic races are any superior to the other. For any one to believe that they are a superior ethnicity have a inferiority complex.

Tibeto-Burman is also from where the Sinitic branch or the so called Chinese languages also arise.
But the origin lies in North-East since the highest genetic & linguistic(language) diversity of the Sino-Tibetean branch is here and it is from here that the migrations to China happened.
Most Chinese don't have a pale or yellow skin, especially the Southern Hans who are darker and have looks closer to the Aboriginals. Han Chinese is an ethnicity which has absorbed various earlier cultures and should not be seen as a homogeneous single origin ethinicity or culture.
The Southern Hans are more Austro-Asiatic and Astronesians in looks and genetics (rather than Turkic or Mongolic which is dominant in Northern Hans and understandably so, because of the migrations of these pastoral Hunas, proto-turks and proto-mongols from the deep tundra forests of northern Siberia), much like the people of South East Asia and have been absorbed by an evolving Han Chinese tribal identity with each heaven mandated conquest.
FYI, Much of Central Asia today is Indian & Iranian maternally in gentics as the Hunas, Turks & later Mongols overran the region in various waves, killing men and taking their women as their wives or concubines and thus creating new ethnicities!
Also P.S. The whole Mongoloid feature stems from the Denisovan mixing with already mixed Homo Spaiens & Neanderthals, based on current theories of migration(should not be considered as ethched into stone since these theories sometimes change over time due to new evidences from various allied fields of study).

As a fellow northeasterner, if we must refer to ourselves as anything other than our nationality, we must refer ourselves in terms of ethnicity rather than race bc race is nothing but a prejudiced and flawed system and as far as i know based primarily on physical characteristics of a population as opposed to ethnicity and genetics.
I've come across a lot of fellow northeasterners like myself who often say that they're "mongolians" when they actually mean they're ethnically sino-tibetan or tibeto-burman for example.

You are really wrong here. We are of mongolian origin( country not the race) . However due to gap of many generations , variations in dialects and practices developed. Meanwhile, till today, some words, names, surnames, some cultural practices are similar to chinese culture (not tibetans). Tibetans were our business partners, they provided us Himalayan salt mostly. In barter exchange , we gave them food, meat, animals, animal skin etc.
It is believed that our ancestors were nomads thousands of years ago. From mongolia they reached Eling lake and gyaring lake and then to nyigchi and atlast settled in tsangpo river basin. Even from todays myanmar also ,people migrated thousands of years ago which wasn't demarcated at those times as countries.
