And create some tools also for a 3D redactor you picked or probably interested in a future, probably create a game if you have some logic and mathematics. Nobody needs just random 3D models from a different universes. You have to choose your niche : characters, tech, environment, exterior, interior. Just remember to create quality first and sell later. I've been contacted by lots of people offering me opportunities because they saw or bought things that I put up for sale.
It's ridiculous when artists sell models for a couple dollars. They can actually only earn like 50 cents from the sale and product that has 50 sales capacity. 25 dollars over 3 years yay! On a bright side, solid works sell at proper pricing.

Everything you said is true. Furthermore, can be applied to any freelance industry. Its those who do not value talent try to evaluate it as manufacturing and this is where the economics clash.
Yes, but doesn't matter if that is what is in demand. Indie devs would rather use free assets or contract someone to make specific models for them than buy a premade generic soldier for example. The reason why is because time is something indie companies have. Same thing with larger companies it would be easier to just contract a studio to push deadlines. This applies to 2D art as well when it comes to art styles, platforms like instagram and tumblr favor a graphic shading style of pininterest women models with eye catching colors.

Awesome video! Is it ok to sell models with loose parts or is loose parts a mistake? Do all the vertices need to be linked or is it ok for parts to intersect if it looks good?
Game assets usually should be merged, if it's for animation loose parts usually are preferred. Ideally, everything that is one part in real life should be one part in 3d. So for example a bolt can be separate from whatever it is bolted to.
When he said vrtices I think he means if the edges and faces must be together or not... for example you have a perfectly good cube but when you click on it that actualme you have 6 separate faces and yo be honest I hate when that happen cause it make it sometimes more complicated for me depending on what thing i wanna do with that model

I sell 3d models for over 9 years and I can say the market is suprasaturated and is harder and harder to make money. Image 300 products on same car or tank. The buyers will go with the cheapest and most realistic one. On archviz image 500 products with same chair or bed and each one undercut. On game models is harder because each game engine have it's own standards. If you image you work for 160 hours a month and get 4000$ better do college and get a job.
