- Here's a better effort at compiling some clips from our trip to Blazer Bash 2017 in Moab Utah.
I ended up breaking the rear ring and pinion on gold bar ram. I heard the rear diff making some extra noises earlier that morning and it finally let go on double whammy. I rode out the rest of the trail on the end of a Bubba rope, driving everything I could in FWD. A couple friends came up from Moab with a trailer and towed my ass back to town.

Video credit to my awesome wife Christy!
Finally a four wheeling video with decent music!🤘🏻
Such a bad ass video, this footage is priceless man! Cheers from Chicago 🤙🏼
😎 just picked up a 1 owner rust free 85 hilux & have high hopes for it. thanks for sharing and giving us a look at your beast
YES ! FINALLY! A wheelin vid with some good music. I'll tell you what, moab is one of my most favorite places. I've laughed and cried there. I'm kicking the roof back up and the wind shield out and putting fullsize axles on my yota right now then driving back.
Music was a let down just motor is better then that. The video was great other then the music but I'm not into basher sounding "music".
We will be heading back to moab this spring for our 9 time running it.love it one of our favorite trails. We are at windrock this week some pretty awesome trails out here too.we have a jeep wrangler Rubicon jk 4door with lift Dana 60 axels floating axels front and rear lockers 513 gears and a hemi engine and 8 speed automatic. transmission
Love that truck. Well done 👍
It was a fun one. I wheeled it so hard in the few years following this video. Cut the cab off, caged it, broke it repeatedly and eventually sold it.
@@Crawlerscott I'm setting on an original 1980 long bed that my grandfather bought new when I was 8. My son and I are getting ready to go through it. We live in Moab. It's time.
@@ephjay6t87 hell yeah man. Throw some gears, lockers, transfer cases and armor at it and go have fun!
Great video!
Towed back to town? Why not drive in front wheel drive?
5.71 gears and a slightly bent front shaft. I was going to but my friends insisted on towing it. Haha
Awesome truck 👍👍
I gotta get out to Moab!😥
Goregous truck man!! Love the metalacalyps soundtrack!!!
Nice rig, and solid music choice to boot 💪💪💪
in a normal road (streets) , how much weight-load the chassis and suspension can handle ??
not much, the suspension is set up for rock crawling so it's pretty soft. i never carry or haul anything with it.
@@Crawlerscott thanx man
you can always count on a squarebody chev to pull you out
Aand R most of the time, my square body was stuck in Moab with a dead transmission that whole weekend. Lol
Scott Martin what trans is it?
A 4L80E. It wicked having to replace it in Moab. I planned on wheeling the suburban some but it stayed at the rental house all weekend. Trans got installed on Monday and we left town at 5:30pm with a broken yota on the trailer behind it. Most expensive wheeling trip to date.
Sucks your rear end failed on ya, I hope you built it back bigger and meaner!
Everyday Outdoor oh yeah I put it back together and I’ve been wheeling the crap out of it.
Whats the name of the song playing?
Detharmonic by Dethklok.
Beautiful pickup!
CrawlerJamie it’s not so pretty anymore!
Sxs are better. Will destroy this truck
Gsfbffx Pdhhdf have both. They’re two different machines for two different purposes. Trucks>Golf carts 😁
Bad ass video man sorry about the end
What brand were the 5.71s you broke?
Adventure Escape I done actually know. They were in the truck when I bought it. I’ve since replaced them with Yukon 5.29s.
@@Crawlerscott Any problems with the 5:29's ? My mechanic friends tell me not to go above 4:88 but eh... the internet says otherwise haha.
@@yoboo6167 nope. I had problems with 5.71s but never 5.29. I wheeled 5.29s with spartan lockers in 4cyl 3rd members for a few years on 37” stickies without issue.
What was the cause of failure? You running 5:29?
Cal Okie I am now, those were 5.71s. At that time the rear diff was the only thing I hadn’t gone through and rebuilt myself. They might not have been set up or broken in correctly. 5.71s are weaker than 5.29s, I killed one more set of 5.71s after this trip. I’ve since re-geared to 5.29 and haven’t had an issue.
whats your tire size?
djego 4x4 offroad 37x12.50r17
What size tire
Those were 37x12.50 BFG stickies.
What gears ?
@@Elisrecoveryoffroad it had 5.71s at the time.
Yoda Torque.😃
Toyota’s are definitely the best!! That’s why I love my 1991 Toyota Pickup. I bet a Jeep wouldn’t make it.
Ever notice when you own a certain brand that you just hate on others instead of going out and enjoying yourself?
We have made it 8 different times in our jeep wrangler Rubicon jk 4door and no break downs at all there yet.
Sweet
Cool video horrible music choice
That’s a third gen pickup
Ok bud.
@@Crawlerscott it is
That’s not a first gen taco that’s just a Toyota pick up
Kameron Eleftherakis Show me where I claimed it to be a first gen Tacoma.
better with no music
I’ll be sure to check with you next time.
Dana 60 time!
Bad music choice
Russ Murphy next time I’ll run it by you first. 😉
Dethklok is never a bad choice of music
Russ Murphy is a doucher.
The first 12 seconds of your intro it says “ wheeling Moab Utah in my first gen “
Kameron Eleftherakis yeah it’s a first gen pickup dude. 79-83 was the first generation of the pickup.
Its first generation that is 4x4, I have a yellow 1980..
ayotochtli I used to have a yellow ‘81 pickup.
Got a 1980 Hilux beater original 20 R running 35. Wouldn't trade it for a brand new Chevy.
